The cocktail shrimp were exceptional as was the presentation. The swordfish chop was another exceptional portion, very well prepared...fresh and delicious! We loved everything but can't go there often because it's quite pricey. The staff was professional, knowledgeable and helpful.
The food and specialty drinks were delicious, the service excellent and the view beautiful.
Service was excellent. Food was good. Go with an appetite.
Beautiful view on the 2nd floor. My only comment is I felt the service was rushed. We ordered drinks. When we ordered the starter, the server demanded we order our entrees then. We like to linger over each course. Had to then make snap decision on the bottle of wine for dinner along with enterees. When asked why we had to do this ...She said the kitchen required that the starters and enterees be ordered together. I have never been forced to do this before. I felt pushed. Put a bit of a damper on what was to be a relaxing family dinner.
Note: we weren’t asked for sides. We had to ask for the Au Gratin potatoes which came out half way through our enterees.
Great food and excellent wine selections. We had a wonderful evening.
Took a group for lunch and learned, once again, that Legal is great for fish, but not for a burger (i.e. beef). My companions enjoyed their fish, but the burger (way overcooked, dry and hard) was clearly the worst burger that I have had in the world. My suggestion - add another fish entree, and drop the burger. Focus on what you do best.
Went to Legal 2 a number of times. Took Family (9) for Easter Dinner. It was good and it was not.
Food was mostly up to Legal 2 Standards. Appetizers of Shrimp Cocktail, Octopus, Tuna, Calamari, etc were all very good. Main courses of Lobster, Halibut, Salmon, Lamb and Boulibase were also very good. The Abalone was not! something changed and not for the better. Instead of the normal 4 -5 small piece portions that are usually served, the waiter said it now comes in 3 bigger pieces. Never had Abalone this size and it was not GOOD. Asked waiter for shell that usually comes with the Abalone dinner, and was told not available. For $56 a serving - Very disappointing.
Service was slow because of Holiday probably, but we were not in a rush. But, deserts were a disaster. They came out in shifts, coffee came much later than the deserts and 2 were missing. Waiter said they were having problems in Pastry area and would bring us the 2 missing cappuccinos right away. they finally arrived and both were cold!
In Summary, Food was almost Legal 2, Service was NOT. Perhaps they weren't ready for Easter Service!
Delicious meal. Window seat as requested.
I went to Legal Harborside on a Tuesday evening for a business meal thinking it was the same menu as Legal Seafood. I had my mind set on Crab Cakes, but at first glance of the menu, there were NO CRAB CAKES! The waiter graciously offered to check if the kitchen could make me crab cakes. Long story short, the manager, Joel came over and talked to my table and letting me know they could make crab cakes. I was very impressed by the service and the accommodation Legal Harborside was able to make. I also tried the scallops which were made extremely well. In addition, great atmosphere and good cocktails.
The chicken was under cooked, but really what surprised me was the COD was way overcook and so was the swordfish, it was very disappointing for the flag ship of Legal...
He was a very beautiful dinner the food is fantastic we enjoy every single moment
The meals were definitely not worth the money. I had short rib and lobster it came with 1
Piece of short rib and a small lobster tail, not worth $56.00. My girl friend had baked poached 2 LB.? Lobster , was mostly stuffing and a small amount of lobster once again not worth $59.00. Service was good and noise level was low . Unfortunately we left hungry.
We had a lovely waitress ~Francis~ and a special Birthday welcome waiting at the table for us. The view / table was very nice but we were disapointed with the limited menu. We were expecting a full menu selection.
The food was nothing special...appetizers were so so and the octopus specifically was an odd preparation ,very heavy and pasty tasting. Next time I will stick to the downstairs with full menu and hopefully better preparation of fresh ingredients.
Great restaurant, awesome experience. They even give you a post card to mail from the restaurant to someone special. It’s a nice spot! Totally satisfied
In Boston for the NCAA Sweet Sixteen Tourney games. Took my wife and son here for the view and some Boston seafood. Great place with a great view but do not order the Lobster. Apparently there is a Lobster shortage and we paid a premium price for Lobster and ended up with not much Lobster and what I would call Lobster filling instead. Too pricey for getting short chained on the Lobster in my mind. Go there for the view, but don’t order the Lobster !
Wonderful experience, great view. My scallop entree on white beans was excellent, as was the creamed corn with pancetta side.My wife's butter poached lobster and braised short rib was very good as well. I would say the octopus on peanut and honey aioli was "out there" and didn't quite work for me. It was properly tender but I missed the char and smoke taste of a grilled octopus and this rendition was too sweet and dessert-like. I kept thinking that "this is what a peanut flavored gummy bear would taste like". My wife's octopus mortadella charcuterie platter was excellent. The house gave us a surprise "Happy Anniversary" slice of cake. I would definitely come back. Oh, service by Nicole was very good.
We had a fantastic sweet sixteen dinner for our daughter. My boys both ordered the steak and raved about it. The lobster rolls were also exceptional. The staff brought out a beautiful piece of cake for my daughter with a candle so we could sing to her. It was a memorable night.
Dinner is always amazing.
The tiger shrimp cocktail served in a frozen bubble is a must. Surf and turf lobster tail & braised short ribs special was so good. Thank
The martinis are 1970s sized.
The view is spectacular but the glass window wall can be chilly if it’s in the 20/30s. Request a round table as opposed to a booth if you get chilly.
Our server was fantastic, the food was as well, and the view is amazing.
Been here several times. Its never boring. The wine and food selections are good and service is outstanding.
Perfect combination of a view with excellent service and food! We went for a birthday celebration and an amazing experience.
Totally loved it! We were expecting a Legal Seafoods menu and experience but we were so pleasantly surprised at the unique menu items and upscale ambience. Our server was excellent and there was such attention detail during our meal. We will definitely be returning!
Beautiful setting and view there on the 2nd floor but the food doesn't live up to it. A pretty uninspiring menu and not executed well. I had the surf and turf, the lobster was mushy but the spare rib was good - just wished there was more of it. My guest's fish was just ok. Legal is really good at the simple stuff - lobster rolls, chowder, etc. - that's probably where they should focus their efforts. For an upscale seafood experience, I would send you to Ocean Prime.
I and my wife enjoyed spending our anniversary dinner at the Legal Harbor on the 2nd floor. A "State of the Art" service combined with the exquisite kitchen and the extra-attention to our special occasion made the difference. An unforgettable evening, Thank You!
Oysters were fresh and wonderful. Main course "Dover sole" was nothing special and for $50 per plate not worth it, somewhat rubbery. Service was excellent and the view is special.
Great place for a date with great views on the water
not good！dont go
I had been looking forward to this visit as I had never been to the “infamous” 2nd floor for a few years. I was so happy when they called and confirmed the reservation and asked me if there were any dietary restrictions. I said yes “chocolate”. What showed up as the surprise birthday dessert? Chocolate. I was assured a substitution would be made.
The food is just ok. They miss not having some Legal standards like chowder on the menu. The high light is the bar. The bartender is talented and the drinks really unique.
The service was slow. We ordered wine that showed up after our entrees which is unacceptable at these prices.
My husband had the filet that measured about 3 oz. I had the braised short rib and lobster. I was accompanied by a strange mouse that ruined and overpowered the dish.
Advice is stay on the first floor if your looking for the great seafood Legal is known for.
This was not our first time dining here. It has become our favorite place to go. And the food was the best ever. The Swordfish Chop was perfect for sharing and it was delcious. Our server was outstanding and helped make it a memorable evening
The view was great , service too . Crab starter outstanding and the shrimp platter on ice all good . The Halibut was over salted , and the Steak was just average .
Roger Berkowitz never ceases to get it just right. Above and beyond service, atmosphere, and the best waterfront location of any other restaurant in the greater Boston area, bar none.
If you like wine, you'll LOVE the depth and breadth in a wine cellar stocked with well-known Wall St. guys' greatest hits as well as lesser-known butoften as good-or-better than the pricey bottles.
Raw bar selections still avaiable on 2nd floor, and a bit more sytlized seafood dishes (although some are hits/some are misses). Freshest seafood served by a highly professional staff. We will keep coming back, either upstairs or downstairs (esp. when there isn't a big bar scene on the 3 floor harbor-facing level - better know as "the cougar lounge". Stay away from late-night reservaitons in July and August, or you'll likely encounter a 20 something, hanging on the stairwell railing for dear life!
Food was consistent with legal sea foods high standard. Well prepared. The night fell down in every other way. Dining room looked tired. Wait staff was disinterested and hurried. Not as good as previous
The setting was very nice. Our service was ok. People that came in after were served every course before we were.
The food was good but nothing I would rave about. We had to wait a long time for our check. I would go back but I wouldn’t rush back.
Great views and service
They told us to quiet down, as a party of 10 noise should be expected.
Had a reservation and no table was available. We sat at a high booth which was adequate.
My experience at Legal Harborside is always fantastic. Food is very good, service is attentive but not intrusive. The wine selection is amazing and the wait staff is always helpful in picking a great wine.
We sat at the bar before we were taken to our table. The bartender Jack made a killer old fashioned for me and a great drink for my date.
Overall I would absolutely recommend Legal Seafood to anyone, but particularly Legal Harborside second floor takes it to the next level of service and food.
Our waiter was Daniel and he did an excellent job. He was knowledgeable of the menu and wine choices and very pleasant. His "assistant" was attentive to any needs such as topping off waters or getting dishes cleared when appropriate. Daniel and the assistant both were very professional and you didn't really know they were there unless you were looking for them to help. The food, as always was great. Everyone in our business group of four enjoyed their meal and Daniel suggested the peach and jalapeno vanilla yogurt and it sounded so wild we of course had to try it. It was delicious and split 4 ways so we didn't pork out on it.
Beautiful view. Great wine selection. Knowledgeable server.
This is our favorite Legal location. This particular evening was an off night. Our server was inattentive which is unusual and the food wasn’t stellar this visit. Hopefully next time will be better.
