Legal Sea Foods was born in 1950 as a fish market in Inman Square, Cambridge that expanded in 1968 into a no-frills restaurant where guests sat on picnic tables. The first floor hull of Legal Harborside celebrates this heritage and features a casual restaurant and market.

Here you'll enjoy an all-day menu of seafood favorites with a twist as well as shareable plates, pastas and pizzas made to order in an open kitchen. Choose to eat at one of the picnic tables for an authentic throwback experience or grab a seat at the oyster bar and watch our shuckers at work (up to 14 varieties of oysters are offered daily). A large elliptical bar offers both wine and local beers on tap. Patio seating, along Boston's HarborWalk, affords a clear view of the Boston Fish Pier, the oldest working fish pier in the country, and the city skyline.

Good dinner more casual. The wait staff looks like they belong at Bob Evans. Nice place

We are regulars - dining at Harborside both on the 1st and 2nd floors frequently. This meal was particularly great, though it is always very very good. Oysters were fresh and terrific; the bone in Halibut was out of this world; swordfish great as well. Our waiter (so sorry to forget his name) was just wonderful and his halibut recommendation spot on. Well be back this week or next.

Food and service was good but way overpriced. I get that it’s the seaport but still expensive. They were out of crab that day too. I was craving a crab roll and got a lobster roll which was just meh.

Great location and very nice atmosphere. Food was good but service was hit and miss. We did not get offered any specials and had to chase up a missing drink. Would recommend though and go again.

The seafood special was disappointing - tuna encrusted with a wasabi/panko combo. Tuna was overcooked and flavorless. The service was outstanding however and the view from the 1st floor seating area on a cold butclear day was impressive. My business guests liked the ambiance although the dinner entrees were not the caliber I would have expected from Legals...

Unfortunately we waited over 30 minutes even though we had a reservation. After going up twice, they finally realized they had marked us as “seated” when we were still waiting.
My husband had the fish and chips had no flavor. I ordered a burger (not a seafood fan - was there for the hubby) and could hardly eat the patty - it was entirely too salty.
The view of the bar or was great. Only wish we had ordered something better.

overall experience was pretty good. Although they cancelled my reservation by mistake causing a bit of a wait, the food was its normal...very good and it's a great environment for dinner with a small group.

Legal's Harborside is always reliably good. Enjoy the menu more than standard Legal Seafoods. Server very attentive. Did not disappoint. I will say though that it was not the best lobster roll in Boston. If that's what you are hankering for, try Yankee Lobster, next door, or Neptune Oyster.

Well, it started out really well and we ordered drinks and our fish dinners .... then the manager came by to apologize profusely and to say the gas line had tripped - assured us it was a false alarm - and we could only order cold food. We ordered salads and lobster rolls (AMAZING!) and half way through, our original meals showed up from a different server. Our original server came over and apologized and said not to worry about it. A few minutes later the manager came over again and REALLY apologized, but told us we had to evacuate because the fire department had arrived. He also told us we didn't have to pay for anything. When we left, there were a bunch of firemen at the entrance and fire trucks outside. All in all, it was a very amusing evening and we'll head back in a couple of weeks to try for a more leisurely dinner.

Very disappointed in the Portuguese Stew. All lobster meat and shrimp formerly part of the stew are now eliminated. Really? Is Legals becoming cheap and cutting corners.? Shame.

Very disappointed. The food is OK but overpriced. DO NOT ORDER CRISPY CALAMARI, because half of the basket are fried pickles and lemons that are barely edible. We ordered steamed lobster, lobster bake, crabcake, and they taste ok. Service is cold and not attentive. Our waitress "Jenaya M", didn't give us even one smile, and her service was very rush and unattentive. She treated the other White family that next to us with more respect and paid more attention. Basically a terrible experience at this place. It is not a place that you can relax and enjoy. I've got better food and much better service at the Legal Sea Foods in Framingham.

I’ve been here several times before and every time the food is consistently good. This time we dined here for our son’s birthday celebration. The children’s menu has good selections for the young diner. The view of course can’t be beat! Would recommend and return!

We had a generally excellent meal here on a weeknight. We have been to other LSF branches, and this was similar but perhaps more casual with some less expensive options and great water views.

FIRST -- A word of caution -- the "validated parking" they offer at the nearby Park Lane garage is useless. You get a couple of dollars off sky-high rates, and the validation is no good if you stay more than 2 hours. Our parking tab was $28 for 2 hours and 3 minutes. The valet parking is $20.

Oysters were fresh and tasty as always. The pan-fried trout was very good (I wanted it plain, but others may prefer some sauce.) Fish tacos were good but maybe not great. One of our party loved the yellowfin tuna, which was perfectly cooked to medium rare as requested.

We had requested a water-side table for 5, and we received one after a 15 minute wait. The benches don't have backs, probably because they don't want parties to linger at these prime spots. Service was good, although I saw our waiter try to bring one of our appetizers to the next table, then return to the kitchen, then brought it back to us after a 5 minute delay. Will return, but won't park at the ripoff garage.

Our family's favorite restaurant! Never had a bad meal!! LOT of gluten-free options, including fried fish, fried clams, etc. Kids love that they can eat "regular" food, including french fries, and not worry about getting sick. Not a huge fan of other Legal restaurants but this one is a GEM!!!

I've been to many Legals before, but this was by far my favorite. What an experience! Everything was fresh and light feeling -- maybe a feeling enhanced by the wonderful views. My friend selected the restaurant because she's Celiac and there were so many delicious options for her. They even brought out special, gluten free rolls for her. I snuck a bite, having never had one, and it was fantastic.

Raw bar was good/great. Only issue was my selection. I got it in my head the their rare grilled tuna would be prepared with a glaze etc. I was wrong (& they don’t advertise it as such so it was on me).

Just a recommendation, miso-glaze maybe..it could have used some more flavor.

Went for dinner with a group of 12. Food was hit or miss depending on the person. Paid $29.99 for a Lobster roll that was chewy and did not have much flavor. Prices were moderate, but with some food not being great, was not satisfied. Ambiance was noisy but tolerable and was not a reason not to go. Service was excellent.
