About Legal Harborside - Floor 1 Restaurant and Market

Legal Sea Foods was born in 1950 as a fish market in Inman Square, Cambridge that expanded in 1968 into a no-frills restaurant where guests sat on picnic tables. The first floor hull of Legal Harborside celebrates this heritage and features a casual restaurant and market.

Here you'll enjoy an all-day menu of seafood favorites with a twist as well as shareable plates, pastas and pizzas made to order in an open kitchen. Choose to eat at one of the picnic tables for an authentic throwback experience or grab a seat at the oyster bar and watch our shuckers at work (up to 14 varieties of oysters are offered daily). A large elliptical bar offers both wine and local beers on tap. Patio seating, along Boston's HarborWalk, affords a clear view of the Boston Fish Pier, the oldest working fish pier in the country, and the city skyline.

My fiance and I love Legal Harborside, it's our go to place whenever we are in Boston. The food is always amazing, the service is always great, and we just love the vibe of the restaurant. I would recommend this place over and over again to everyone.

Amazing food and a great value! The food was quite good, and great ambiance. Book in advance because then you can get yourself a table by the water view!!

Good Food. Had (12)Oysters(3.00-3.50 each)(all yummy)but not shucked well/gritty. Bacon Wrap scallops(3)for $16 . Scallops were Average Size on a bed of grits.. too pricey for 3 lil scallops. Wife Ate Sushi (she loved). I had Shrimp Scampi with asparagus(yummy). Had a tasty Bottle of Riesling for $35(reasonable price)(forget name). I request a table by a Window for Vday,

Cons-
I ask why we wasn’t seat by window when another couple right behind us was seat by window. Hostess said you can but you will have to wait 1hr but I clearly requested it through open table/when the restaurant called to confirm reservation . I was upset that a walk in got a better seat than someone that made reservations

Valet Parking has to paid in Cash Only and must be paid before/not after. So you need to bring cash only for $20 valet plus Tip. This is needs to be shown on website.

Overall I would revisit because of the Wait Staff and yummy food. No Valet again...and will not choose to make reservations for special occasions.

Visited the restaurant for Valentine's dinner. I definitely don't recommend it. The tables were too close to each other, so we had no intimacy at all. The waitress was slow and careless. Perhaps she had too many clients to attend.
The overall quality of the food was good, but quite overpriced given the size of the dishes.

To start the night off, our 8:30 reservation didn’t get sat for over 20 minutes. It was Valentine’s Day so this was somewhat expected, however not even an apology was offered. We get to our table and unroll our silverware, which was disgusting. Food was literally caked on both our sets with disgusting spots all over. We were fine with eating with our fingers. Our server was awkward and quiet and seemed upset with us at one point for asking for one of our drinks to get more mixer because it was so strong, it wasn’t a complaint just a preference. The food was decent. The atmosphere was nice minus the filthy silverware. Maybe legals harborside is more in their game in the summer months.

great place to grab some great seafood. Atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly, not rushed. Great views of the harbor and of course, wonderful lobster.

We've had better experiences here but I think I'm done. The food has gone downhill and it's too mediocre for the price. Our server to top it off wasn't up to par.

It was the day of the Patriots Super Bowl. We took our mother out for dinner it was her birthday. Shout out to our waiter he was great; he was very attentive and personable. Recommending the specials and talked about the oysters on the half shell but we do not eat them but gets an A for effort. We ordered apps and drinks the Bourbon Mule was especially good. We all ordered the cod Anna and it was wonderful as always when we eat here at Legal Seafood. I love the location of this new restaurant and being right on the water it is beautiful. The hostess seated us right a way and the meal was terrific we highly enjoyed our afternoon. We also walked up to the upper levels in the restaurant and it is very impressive. I will definitely be back again! Thanks so much!

The serving team transitioned while we were dining - we had to ask a host to send someone to give us our check. Aside from that our original server was good and let us know he would be leaving. The second server dropped the ball. The clam chowder and lobster were good - we had some clams that were mushy but that is probably inevitable when cooking that many in a day! Beautiful setting on the water.

Big fan of Legal for over thirty years. Legal has always been consistent in its offerings. Fresh and prepared well. Last three visits though we have experienced significant drop off. Drop offs on cleanliness, service and most notably food preparation. Last nights visit was simply awful. We pointed the specifics out to the manager on duty and he tried to address as Best he could but it was too late and not enough. They say all good things must come to an end. Hope not for Legal but after three strikes in a row we are going to look at other options going forward.

Great view, but the menu omits some items I've come to love at other Legal Seafoods outlets. Also, could be cleaner. Floor and seats a bit dirty, with crumbs and other stuff about.

The Japanese Sweet and Sour Eggplant was spicy, it should have indicated that in the menu.

Went to Legal Harborside with my two college student daughters and a friend. I'm from out of the area so this was a new restaurant for me. We dined on the first floor which is more casual and less expensive than the upstairs dining. We were all happy with the menu - there was definitely something for everyone, including sushi. Those who don't like seafood might be a little disappointed in the menu as there aren't many non-seafood items. For those who do like seafood, you're in for a treat. In our group, we ordered 2 sushi rolls, fish and chips, caesar salads, clam chowder soup and a pasta dish with chorizo and scallops. The clam chowder and sushi rolls were especially good. The fish and chips were also good. Would definitely dine here again.

Did our now annual drop-in. We were early and the table was ready right on time (12:30 PM, Sunday), looking out at the frigid January harbor. Menus, beverages, ordering, rolls, and meal moved along at a good pace. About 90 minutes later we were on our way back to the weekend's event we were in town for.

You really can't go wrong at Legal Seafood. The food was very good. Service was excellent. Meal was fairly priced. The location of the restaurant features beautiful views of the Boston waterfront. The chowder is world famous. The scallops were juicy, meaty and well prepared. The swordfish was delicious and flavorful. A great meal for the price.
