I love this place... the food and the ambiance is just perfect! Our waiter Santiago provided exceptional service. Can’t wait to go back.
Cool location on the water. The positives of our meal stopped there. Although we had a reservation, we waited for quite sometime. Service was terrible once we were seated. Our waiter could barely be bothered to make the few trips to our table during our meal. Food was underwhelming. Went for the clam chowder which was on par with Progresso canned soup.
ordered 14 oysters, 12 were delivered... service was slow and inattentive. I have been here many times, but it has started to feel like a food mill and turning tables is more important than an intimate experience.
We are Legal Harborside regulars because we like the overall quality of the food and the comfortable, laid back atmosphere. For this visit my spouse had the Katama Bay oysters which were wonderful. I had the trout, which is always good, and the hot zucchini/squash combination as a side was delicious. The staff replaced the bench seat with a chair for my husband, even though the restaurant as usual was busy and this caused some inconvenience for them. Our server was outstanding--very friendly and efficient. For once the restaurant noise level at our corner table was manageable. Overall, Legal Harborside delivered and we had a lovely evening.
Nice menu of seafood choices. All very good, but i would not say spectacular. Service was good until it got busier. Then it was pretty slow. Waterfront views are quite nice. In my opinion, the best menu items are the grilled fish. Very nice but pricey.
Terrific attention by our waitress. This restaurant was a fun place to be to celebrate my son's birthday. Not our first time and won't be our last - we'll be back!
Hoping to get some good seafood. What a disappointment.
All in all, a good experience but I was not happy with the salmon burger. Too much filler and not enough salmon, and too greasy. Wasn't thrilled with the fact that I couldn't substitute fries for mixed greens without having to pay more. Will not order this again.
Came here for my boyfriend's birthday on a Sunday night while we were visiting Boston and had absolutely no regrets! The location is perfect- right on the water with plenty of tables with amazing views. The service was exceptionally quick and friendly, and the food was amazing!! Everything tasted so fresh and flavorful. We split a bowl of clam chowder and then ordered a hot lobster roll with sweet and spicy eggplant instead of fries and also an order of the spicy chipotle fish tacos. They also brought out dessert on the house for my boyfriend's birthday which was pretty tasty as well! It was a great find for some good seafood at a reasonable price, and a nice location to walk around before/after. Would definitely recommend a reservation, as they seemed busy even on a Sunday night. We opted for the first floor (more casual) but the second floor looking more fine dining-esque, if that's what you're into. Top floor is a rooftop bar I think, which we didn't check out but definitely will next time.
Crabcake was to die for and service excellent! All food was great!
Great experience. Beautiful view. Service was outstanding and the food was excellent. I would certainly return.
The atmosphere was fun and energetic. The food was good but not great. Oysters were very good. Cocktail average. My lobster casserole was very heavy on the sherry. The sherry overpowered the lobster. Desserts disappointing. Scallops and salmon were very good.
My grilled salmon was good but on the salty side. I thought it was very nice of our waitress to split our crabmeat salad before bringing it to the table. I love it when on cooler evening, the windows are opened to the water. Creates a wonder ambiance.
Fantastic location! Wonderful, creative food and classic dishes. Enthusiastic waitress guided us to a couple of specials we wouldn't have seen. Great place!
Was here for my wife’s birthday/van Morrison concert. The waiter was great The food was exceptional as always, and location is probably one of the best in the city. Thank you for creating a wonderful evening.
The food is always top shelf. My husband will drive over an hour to come here for the portuguese stew. I love the tuna tacos. Great place to go before a concert at the Pavillion. There were seven of us this last visit and everyone loved their food.
Waited forever for entrees & when mine arrived it was tasteless. A friend ordered haddock & the piece was smaller than the size of a playing card. Collectively we gave him food from our plates to make it look like he ordered a full plate. Legal Harborside rests on its laurels of location & "Get them in & get them out!"
Went on a recommendation, never again! Overpriced waterfront ambiance....disappointing.
Wonderful fried haddock appetizer and large steamed lobster.
The food was great! However, it is a pricey menu and despite having a reservation, we still waited 30 minutes for our table.
VERY confusing for an out of towner. The person answering the phone for the reservation didn’t say there was “formal” dining and “casual” dining. I wanted formal and didn’t know it all wasn’t formal. When she said she only had the first floor available that didn’t tell me I was in the casual floor. Please train your hostesses better. Went upstairs and sat at the bar and was more than impressed with Jack the bartender! OMG! What a treat!!
Disappointed in the food. No presentation. Artichoke dip was served cold. Boston cream pie had no cream in it.
We met friends from out of town we had not seen in a while. Took us a little while to order and then our waitress was nowhere when we wanted to order. We decided to skip apps and get dessert although the waitress did try and sell us apps. Food arrived warm but not hot. Dessert was just what we expected.
Thank you Legal Harborside for a memorable experience. Food was delicious and service superb. All of our inquiries were answered and addressed in a professional and friendly manner. Our server was phenomenal; his name was Aung
We will come back
Incredibly good with gluten allergy!!
Legals is usually pretty good. I really didn’t care for the food this time, but it usually is really good. Good atmosphere...casual environment.
With the Legal name you expect a certain quality. We were a party of six women. Three ordered the lobster roll. We specifically asked if our server if it had a lot of mayonnaise. She said no. The market price was $30. The expectation was that it was be a large portion. Well, it arrived and all three were very small portions, swimming in mayo, and it also looked watery. All three diners were disappointed. Two of us had the shrimp tortilla soup. It was so much like chili we called the server over to verify we received what we ordered. I had one very small bite of shrimp in my bowl. We couldn't figure out what else was in the soup as we both swore there was ground beef, or maybe a ground chicken. It just wasn't what we expected. The views with the open air to the water were just beautiful. Next time, I'd just stop for a drink and the view and go elsewhere for dinner.
Unfortunately, not a good experience. Been here several times and it’s always been pretty good. This time, there was a hair in my salad and my crab meat roll was very fishy.
Did not eat either one, yet the waitress did not offer to take them off the bill. Shocking, actually.
Delicious meal, fresh seafood (of course). A beautiful location right on the water. Friendly efficient service and excellent food. We will absolutely come back again.
Sat outside at a lovely table at night. Food and service were both very good. Nice bartenders too.
You can't beat the location on the water. The fish is great. Mashed potatoes were soupy...I was surprised. This is pretty pricey though and the price to park is expensive. For me I will only go back if I do not have to drive.
Fantastic location. Excellent service. The food was good but not great.
lunch with family in the terrace looking at the harbour and the passing vessels is so charming and feels like we were on the beach
Great waitress! Beautiful view and scenic waterfront view. Great way to spend Labor Day!
One of the only restaurants where I will order swordfish. Always cooked perfectly and not over done. Drinks, wine, desert were all excellent. Sat on the deck over looking the water. Fantastic evening.
We are frequent diners here. It was my wife's 60th birthday. I asked for a table as close to the water as possible. No mention of her birthday by staff. No table nearer to the outside. No ice bucket for the bottle of wine I ordered (waiter said they were all in use). Appetizer had to be sent back as it wasn't what we ordered. When we left the manager (Russ) said he would make it better for us next time.
Fish was excellent
It's Legal. So not a lot more to say than that. Top quality food, decent prices. Gawgeous view. Ever-present gulls. On the waterfront.
Service was a little off, but perhaps because it was a back-to-school holiday weekend.
Front desk missed our request for the outside deck and seated us inside. We went back and asked nicely and were re-seated.
Dietary restrictions were honored, expertly. Kitchen messed up on a substitution. The roving manager fixed it instantly and very pleasantly.
The wait-staff was unclear about parking validation, but the front desk go it right. Be prepared to pay at least $20 for parking.
All of that said, it's a great place to go and second-to-none for the seafood-on-the-water experience.
Phenomenal seafood on the water!
Went to this place for Saturday night dinner while visiting Boston. Had oysters, crab legs and clam chowder as appetizers. All fresh and tasty. Got lobster roll and grilled tuna as main dish. Great as well! Overall delicious food, great atmosphere, outdoor seating and friendly staff!
