Legal Harborside - Floor 1 Restaurant and Market
Choose to eat at one of the picnic tables for an authentic throwback experience or grab a seat at the oyster bar and watch our shuckers at work (up to 14 varieties of oysters are offered daily). A large elliptical bar offers both wine and local beers on tap. Patio seating, along Boston's HarborWalk, affords a clear view of the Boston Fish Pier, the oldest working fish pier in the country, and the city skyline.

New England Clam Chowder
A consistently great choice, whether for date night or to bring the parents.
First time at this restaurant and it was great
Food was amazing and service was fantastic
There was a concert at the amphitheater near by and the music was loud
But other than that this place is great
Been there, done that, will never do it again. Not worth the hype. Chowder was mediocre. Ordered baked stuffed colossal shrimp and got 4 small burned shrimp with flavorless unseasoned rice. Best part was the asparagus.
Great service. Great food. Would definitely return.
Good service, great lobster, nice wine. What else can anyone ask for?
Excellent experience. The best clam chowder I’ve ever had. Tuna tataki is incredible.
Good consistent food at Legal's. Great service. Wife's lobster roll was best she's ever had.
Food was delicious! Physical space needs updating. Good experience.
Legal Seafood dining is usually consistent. The Harborside location is exceptional for the view of the harbor. However, the space is aging - the tables are chipped and sticky and it has more of the atmosphere of a tourist trap than a nice place to dine. The food is consistently prepared however and while nothing special is adequate for the price. The service is robotic but again consistent. Not fine dining but a great place to take folks from out of town to sample seafood.
I look forward to visiting again! Ans may very well add this place to my "must go" on every trip there after to try other menu items. We were able to get patio seating with a direct view of the harbor and it was wonderful! Watching the seagulls , the boats, and listening to the sound check from the amphitheater next door was entertaining as well.
It was breezy with being that close to the water, so definitely suggest a light jacket if you're on the patio depending on the time of year. The food was an incredible fusion of flavors unlike what I had tried before of seafood restaurants. If you like sushi and lobster, I highly suggest the lobster sushi roll. The presentation alone is worth the order, but your taste pallette will not be disappointed.
Great Food - Great View-Great drinks I hope to return soon
Legal SEAFOOD. As in oysters. This was my husband birthday dinner which I booked 1 month in advance. THEY DID NOT HAVE OYSTERS and gave 3 different reasons why. The food we did get was mediocre, the service was horrible and no toilet paper in the bathroom. This was a really bad experience. We will not be returning to any Legal Seafood again. REALLY!!!!!! How can you not have oysters when the restaurant down the block does?
Great patio view of the water and excellent service. Highly recommend reservations.
Great dinner and great service! Please beware on outdoor seating! On this app and in the restaurant they state we cannot guarantee outside seating nor reserve outside seating! Upon arriving saw outside tables and was instructed that no outside seating is available for they are all reserved! I replied how can this be? He said we take outdoor seating reservations! I asked for the manager he replied the server was mistaken! He immediately sat us outdoors! Great food great service!
Highest quality seafood in a very comfortable casual environment. Loved it!
Consistently great food and service
I went for my birthday dinner primarily to get oysters and they told us they didn’t have any oysters when we sat down. Very disappointing and the server just left tons of empty plates scattered all over our table. Had to grab someone to get them to take them away. Felt pretty small time for ordering a $40 meal.
The wait staff was great and professional. The atmosphere is also wonderful right by the water. The food is good but not phenomenal and way overpriced. I have the signature crab cake which is delicious and then ordered two sides to go with it for a meal. The sides are definitely just so so and not worth the price. Overall you pay for the name and the atmosphere.
Superb food and service harbor side. What more could you want!
So far my experiences with the new ownership of Legal Seafoods have not been encouraging. The new french fries look like they're going to be great, but the flavor and texture don't follow through on the promise.
Most of all, though, as someone who's gone to Legal for years for its gluten-free options, I'm really disappointed in things that have been taken off the menu (the crispy green bean appetizer that used to be at Harborside, for instance). I hope that Legal remains a favorite for years to come, but I'm concerned.
Great food, good service and a beautiful atmosphere beside the harbor! The only downside was that the hostess failed to acknowledge us while talking on the phone approximately 5-minutes.
Love the view. Disappointed with a cold rubbery “hot buttered” $42 lobster roll. After just returning from Maine, the seafood unfortunately did not compare.
The lobster roll was perfect; big and very fresh chunks of lobster, fresh hot dog bun grilled golden brown with butter still warm, golden tender fresh French fries, tasty coke slaw. The Caesar salad was one of the best. The day was hot and humid, so we chose inside, but sat next to the window with a great view. Our waitress was friendly, yet professional. It was a very enjoyable experience.
The food was excellent and our table had a nice view of Boston Harbor. Our waiter, knowing we only had an hour to eat before attending a concert, made sure our food was speedily delivered.
Fantastic harbor location. Great wait server. Prompt service and well cooked food. A total delight as we luxked out with a table overlooking the bisy harbor.
We have always enjoyed Legal’s. Never ever have had a “Bad” piece of fish. Always fresh!!
However, 1st time Legals had run out of some items such as oysters and the espresso machine was broken. Is this a buy product from the recent sale of Legal’s? Hope not!
Fun interior, great food, fantastic for Celiac! Would highly recommend and plan to come back.
Went for oysters. NO OYSTERS!!! what? Total disappointment!
Waitress forgot our appetizer.
Over rated experience, Legal Seafood was barely legal in our humble opinion!
Great seafood :)
The crusted haddock dish was very tasty. Fish was flaky and very good. Scenery is very beautiful for sure. Fried shrimp looked a bit overdone but ok. Boston cream pie spot on
Outdoor patio seating was amazing on a hot summer day, with some breeze from the water
Classic harborside vibe with great food and service. A must experience for visitors to Boston.
Waitress was great with food allergies. She made sure I could have the bread. Also she came back with options of how a meal could be altered so it would be safe for me to eat.
The BEST Legal location in the city. I always bring out-of-state guests here, and it never disappoints!
Great view, nice to sit inside yet open to the outside.
Consistent quality, very good service, priced on the high side.
Despite a beautiful evening with many people desiring to get a table, our reservation was filled and we were seated at a prime location on time.
Legals was always a sure bet. Not so much anymore. Waiter must have been new. Not very attentive or didn’t have a good feel for menu or drink list. Legals ran out of butter for bread? Sounded very bizarre to me. Will give legals a little rest in my rotation of Boston restaurant.
A great location on the Boston harbor, especially on a gorgeous sunny day like Sunday. Also a good people watching spot. The noise level was a bit high, with not great acoustics there. But we all had an enjoyable family birthday celebration lunch.
