Legal Harborside - Floor 1 Restaurant and Market
Here you'll enjoy an all-day menu of seafood favorites with a twist as well as shareable plates, pastas and pizzas made to order in an open kitchen. Choose to eat at one of the picnic tables for an authentic throwback experience or grab a seat at the oyster bar and watch our shuckers at work (up to 14 varieties of oysters are offered daily). A large elliptical bar offers both wine and local beers on tap. Patio seating, along Boston's HarborWalk, affords a clear view of the Boston Fish Pier, the oldest working fish pier in the country, and the city skyline.
We sat outside and it was very cold. Other than that everything was great.
Bartenders were great. The raw oysters were delicious. Dinner was excellent, but we had a less than stellar server.
Having eaten at The Test Kitchen multiple times we decided to try Legal Harborside and we were not disappointed. The views were fantastic and each of us truly enjoyed our meals. The food was absolutely delicious and at a reasonable price. Would definitely return. Also took advantage of the valet parking which was very convenient.
Fish in the bag comes in a real plastic, non-recyclable bag. Not environmentally friendly, definitely not appetizing.
Great food and ambiance! The service was kind of spotty, but I'm willing to chalk up at least part of it to it being a busy Sunday evening. Still, we had a longer than normal wait time and we had to ask for water to be brought to our table two separate times before it actually was. The quality of the seafood was exceptional though, which was to be expected, and the view from where we were seated was pretty spectacular.
The food is always great. I was very disappointed on how dirty the bathrooms were kept.
Overall very positive. In general, the restaurant is dirty -and the restaurants very very dirty....
Pretty setting and nice, buzzy atmosphere but the quality of the food was extremely average for a premium price. Lunch (1 starter and 2 entrees) for 2 with 2 beers $100+. Have had much better for the same price. Shame because it has potential.
We enjoyed a delicious seafood lunch at a table on the waterfront with out of town visitors. Everyone enjoyed the experience very much.
The waiters were great. The food was delicious.
The noise level is high so I would not go there on a first date.
My friend had a lobster and it was like watching Tom Jones eating... she loved every bite and there was no meat left - just shells. I had a perfect crabmeat sandwich... hard to come by these days.... it was full of crab meat, light mayo, good roll (which for this sandwich has to be a hotdog roll grilled on two sides in butter). We have had some bad examples of both of these in places that tried to be “la la” and ended up being lousy. Good for Legal! We’ll come again.
I eat there at least once a week! Love this place! And the view is always stunning no matter the season!
Yes, the scallops were amazing but would not order the corn and tuna bruschetta again.
Food was great but service very poor. We were a party of four and ordered clam chowder as a starter which did arrive until our entree was being served. Waiter was very indignant when we complained. By the time we ate the chowder our entrees were cold, not a pleasant dining experience. Will give the manage credit he did take the chowder off the bill. Noise level was very high but not totally unexpected. If you want a quiet dinner reserve a table on the 2nd floor.
Awesome location alongside the water. Our server was excellent, even though he wouldn’t accept our ID for drinks—Canadians, bring your passports! The food was fantastic and the prices seemed very fair for the high quality meals.
Love the location, seating near the water. Food was good but not as good as previous visits.
Great food and view
Poor service. Food was just okay. We made reservations and still had to wait 10 minutes.
Lobe the view - best place in Seaport - Highly recommend this venue
We booked a 3pm lunch and did not have food until 4:15. The chowder we ordered never arrived. The view was wonderful and they accommodated 5 of us when the original reservation was for 4. Overall it took way too long to get the food we ordered.
Fun vibe in the restaurant. Great ambiance. The seafood menu was expansive and really terrific. The view at the seaport waterfront was outstanding. Highly recommend.
SO many gluten free options. I had the calamari and the lobster roll on gluten free bread and it was delicious. I will definitely be back. The service and the view were great as well!
Beautiful location right on the harbor. Lots of fun bars around. The food was okay, but unfortunately it was a little cool.
Legal harborside was BEAUTIFUL. If you go on a nice night, be sure to sit outside. The view is worth it and you still get the energetic vibe from the inside bar / restaurant as it has an indoor/outdoor open concept. The crab cake was probably the best I’ve ever had! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great date spot with an awesome view and fantastic food !
Just OK...it is a BIG Chain, and there are MANY other seafood restaurants in Boston to choose from...would do lunch there, maybe, but not dinner...Just OK....
Beautiful view at our table for 6. All our food and drinks were very good. Our appetizers were a bit slow coming out and we usually had to wave our waiter down to order more drinks or our meals. It was pretty busy of a Saturday afternoon with gorgeous weather so we attributed it to that. Overall we had a great time!
Our family of (6) had 1pm reservations on Saturday of Labor Day weekend - I was pleasantly surprised to find our table ready for us on arrival (no waiting!) on a busy weekend. The service was great, the ambiance was perfect and the food even better (a little pricey but we'll worth it) . We will definitely come back when we visit Boston in the future.
Had the halibut special and it many bones in it which wad disappointing.
The sides offerer with dishes are underwelming. Management of the front of front desk are always well trined and professional. I have been to this location many times. It was simply beautiful on Saturday, open to the harbor ... the clam chowder was on par with any in the city. Fabulous wine selection and oysters ... don't over think it - worth the trip. Sit at the bar or the if available, the upper bar!
As usual, Legal Sea Foods did not disappoint! As the President & CEO of a large cruise agency, we frequently pick up clients visiting Boston at their cruise ship and lunch at Legal Sea Foods. ALL of clients rave about Legal so what ever you're doing, keep it up!

Oysters were really good / food uneventful/ service was average - not bad but certainly room left to be bettee
Excellent harbor views. Dinner came to the table 5 minutes after appetizers. Tell them to space it out.
Lovely day to sit on the water and have an excellent meal with great service.
The host were nice and a bit entertaining due to the wait.
The waiter was nice and the food was good.
I did not like my meal - Stuffed artichoke were heavy and greasy(chef needs to reconsider these) Lobster roll was just okay , Caesar salad - lettuce was too wet so salad dressing was running off. Sushi roll was just okay - nothing to rave about. The setting on the water and open kitchen were very nice.
Our family with aunts, uncle and cousins met for dinner to celebrate a birthday and to send off a college bound cousin!!
Our food was amazing!! We love the view! Our server was so sweet and attentive! Thank you❤️
Really good food and great service. The waitress was helpful and kind. We sat inside, but it never became so noisy that we couldn’t hear ourselves. The view was very pretty too.
This is my new go to place to relax and chill out. Thank you for a great experience!
Standard issue tourist seafood, nothing inventive or creative, but everything was very well prepared and fresh.
