About Legal Crossing

Legal Crossing is an urban neighborhood restaurant inspired by the vibrancy of Downtown Crossing, then and now. It's a cross between all of the Legal Sea Foods concepts, evolved into a new, singular experience.

The menu showcases the freshness and purity of our seafood. Tried-and-true favorites from all the Legal Sea Foods concepts (Legal Sea Foods, Legal Test Kitchen, Legal C Bar and Legal Harborside, Floor 1 and 2) - evolved by preparation and/or presentation - along with exclusive offerings, comprise the menu mix. At the same time, we’re shaking things up with our cocktails. Many of them are a playful nod to Downtown Crossing’s colorful past, while the influence of Chinatown is seen in some of the exotic ingredients used.

Six of us came for a birthday dinner. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was very good. They do seafood well. Try the shrimp and black garlic and the calamari.

I've eaten here many times and food is always excellent. Service today was just terrible. Ordered tea and told it would take a while because no one washed the cups. Asked for milk on the side, got lemon. Asked for milk again took 10 minutes, tea gone by then. Ordered salad with dressing on side. Told dressing "comes on the side" so no problem. Salad came dressed. I told the server and she said "I'll tell the kitchen" - no apology, adjustment or offer to exchange. Ordered coffee and it was plopped in front of the other guest at the table. Oh, and it was not busy. Food is always good but frankly I'll be very careful who I invite to dine with me there again because I choose the venue and was embarrassed. Luckily, again, food was very good.

First time at legal Crossing. Food was amazing. We sat near the kitchen so it was a little noisy. Waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu.

Great pre-theater selection for our family. Delicious menu of seafood and seasonal accompaniments to round out the meal. Great suggestion on wine pairing as well. Never disappointed with a meal at a Legal property.

Wedge salad and lemongrass soup was exceptional but the salmon dish seemed like just a jumble of ingredients and not particularly good or appetizing. Waiter was exceptional and very entertaining

Perfect place for a business lunch! Love the convenience of reservations available at lunchtime. The food was wonderful and received rave reviews from UK business associates, especially the clam chowder. The service was impeccable, attentive, and friendly. Could not have picked better.

Love to go here before theatre, especially when the weather is not good. We like to share a bunch of small plates. We had bang bang cauliflower, chowder, shrimp cocktail, lobster Rangoon, and dumplings. All were good, especially the shrimp and chowder. You can't beat Legal for either of those. Our waiter disappeared at the end of the meal and didn't ask if we wanted dessert or coffee (we did) before he brought the check. We had plenty of time before the show, thank goodness, because the pace was a little slow.

I have eaten at many Legal Seafood venues including this one. Usually I give much higher marks as until now I would have said I've never had a bad meal at a Legal Seafood. Unfortunately on this night the food was barely warm and the coffee had to be sent back as it was quite cold as well. The server was very attentive but not overly so. There was a mix up with a credit card from another table but that was quickly resolved. Overall not a bad experience but not up to what I have come to expect from Legal Seafood.

Server was very polite and attentive wanting to make everything right.

The blackend swordfish did not come blackened and had to be sent back. Never got grilled into the fish.

There was confusion on base sides and premium sides which resulted in disappointment when we receive the wrong side.

The manager, without our asking did make a change on the tab for us.

Look, we’ve been here a number of times and I believe this was a one-off bad day. Still say “If it isn’t fresh it isnt Legal!”

We ordered coffee that came undrinkable. Must have been old. We asked that they make us a fresh pot and the second was delivered and was satisfactory. Server apologized. Clearly a management problem

We had a theater event and the server was attentive to the timing without making us feel rushed. We really appreciated it. We wanted a light supper before the theater, so that was not a problem either. Much appreciated. Delicious tuna sashimi and the salad

Decent food and good ambiance yet the lobster roll and its side dishes were way to oily and buttery, particularly the chips as once bitten into oil would seep out

Arrived for pre-theatre dinner and waiter was aware of time constraint for 7 pm show. My dining companion order salmon, well done. It arrived grilled on top, but raw on inside. She sent it back and it was returned still under-cooked. We were told it would be taken off the check, which it was. I had crispy salmon appetizer which was very good, although the sauce was a little to sweet for my taste. I also had the clam pizza, which was also good, but a little greasy.

It took what seemed forever to get and pay our check. We were standing waiting with our coats on for the waiter to bring our credit card slips. We left at 6:57, 3 minutes to spare for the show to start, cutting it a little to close for my comfort level.

I am a fan of Legal Seafoods in general. I know it's a chain, but I like it, and I'm a Bostonian. I can always count on delicious seafood, and the chef willing to work with any changes I might enjoy. Legal crossing is no different. Great for pre or post Movies or Theater, we went before the movies on Saturday night and had a wonderful meal. The noise level is good, energetic, but you can hear each other talk. I also LOVE Cakebread Chardonnay, and most Legal Seafoods carry that, so I was happy. I also got a chef recommended blackened swordfish steak, which was delicious. Date got salmon dish and loved his as well. Recommend without hesitation.

This is not your typical Legal. Hipper, food more adventurous. Slight Asian bent, with a little too much garlic for my liking, but still excellent. App portions were a little small, with the exception of the bang bang cauliflower which was large and delicious. Dinner portions were substantial. I had the mahi special which was delicious. Wine selection was nice as well and bottle prices were not outrageous Service was excellent and while it was a bit loud, the dining area is small enough that it wasn’t too bad. Substantial size bar if “bar sitting” is your thing!

Legal Crossing deserves high marks for an innovative fusion menu in an appealing atmosphere. Lunch tends to be quiet enough to have discrete conversations without lowering your voice; theater time tends to be more boisterous. OT should have a box to check for "great cocktails," which I certainly would check here.

My two beverage choices were not available and most drinks were premixed, leaving you unable to substitute your favorite spirit. Calamari appetizer was salty and may have been from the ginger sauce. The ambiance was very nice and cozy. Would recommend for a quick appetizer and drinks

I dined at Legal's Crossing tonight before the theater. The service was terrible. Our waitress never came back to the table after taking our order except to drop the check on the table. Never checked in once. As for the food, it was disappointing. My salad, for example, was drowning in dressing. Couldn't even eat it and it was my main course. And couldn't send it back for something else because I didn't have a waitress. Will go elsewhere before the next show.

We ate here prior to a show at the Opera House. We were two adults and two children. Our waiter was less than cheerful. He barely spoke to us and was very abrupt. I ordered a second drink and it came to the table completely different than the first drink I had (obviously a mistake). When I commented that the drink looked different and wasn't the same the waiter totally dismissed me. It didn't taste right so I didn't drink it but I paid for it. The food was okay but not excellent. My biggest problem was the service - one of the worst servers I have ever had on a night that was supposed to be special for my friend and our kids.
