Seafood
Legal Crossing is an urban neighborhood restaurant inspired by the vibrancy of Downtown Crossing, then and now. It's a cross between all of the Legal Sea Foods concepts, evolved into a new, singular experience.

The menu showcases the freshness and purity of our seafood. Tried-and-true favorites from all the Legal Sea Foods concepts (Legal Sea Foods, Legal Test Kitchen, Legal C Bar and Legal Harborside, Floor 1 and 2) - evolved by preparation and/or presentation - along with exclusive offerings, comprise the menu mix. At the same time, we’re shaking things up with our cocktails. Many of them are a playful nod to Downtown Crossing’s colorful past, while the influence of Chinatown is seen in some of the exotic ingredients used.

Excellent server and the food was delicious! I find this location crowded and just a bit too noisy. The tables are very close together which means no privacy. The location cannot be beaten as we have theater tickets at the Opera house. I had the grey sole tonight and it was perfect! We’ll be back despite the lack of atmosphere.

It was just okay. Our server was very friendly. It was quiet (because there were very few people there dining on a Sunday evening). The food was very average - nothing wrong with it but not particularly great. If a blind taste test would have thought it was from a Ruby Tuesdays or similar.

Dined at restaurant Sunday night.
Was with 3 friends. One scallop meal had to be sent back. Scallops were undercooked!! Other meals were ok.
Maybe would try one more time. Very handy for Opera House.
Bar seemed great but our overall dining experience at restaurant would be just fair.

We had a great meal with super service from Nick. We were seated promptly and had a wonderful meal and desert before theatre. Starters, meal and desert all received raves from my group.

Legal is a well oiled machine of high quality food with great service. This was my favorite of many decades of dining at the Legal chain. On a date with my husband to enjoy a show at Boston Opera House.
Service was extraordinary - we had lots of time to enjoy 3 courses and cocktails thanks to our server. Linguini trio clams was delicious as was the roasted cod. The calamari was the best- so nice that it wasn’t breaded or fried!
The decor at LX was dark with black theater-like drapes. They had a nice booth waiting for our reservation. Highly recommend Legal Crossing.

We had a fun dinner at Legal Crossing before a show. The service was excellent. The food was very good, but not as outstanding as I've had at other Legal locations. My food--hoisin salmon-- was not very hot and a little bland, however people at my table raved about their dishes, including the shrimp, spinach and farro. The atmosphere is lively but not too loud to have a nice conversation. The waitstaff was friendly and service was good. I would definitely go back before other shows, especially because the restaurant is so convenient to the Opera House.

We waited a very long time to get our soup and salads which should be a quick turn around - we actually waited a long time to even get bread which was crazy. I ordered a Caesar salad with no anchovies and sure enough - after the long wait - there were anchovies all over my salad. And it was certainly overpriced for what we ordered. Terrible experience - will not come back. They just bank on local businesses going there for lunch but it’s not a good spot for food - only good thing is proximity

I could not have been more offended by the service at this place. It was an embarrassing experience for me as I was the only local and the rest of my party was from out of town and I had highly recommended this place.

Not only were they rude to my friend and refused to serve her despite having proper identification they had the nerve to threaten to take my drink away because they assumed I was sharing it with her.

This wouldn't have been such an issue if the rest of the service was adequate but it wasn't. The waiter never bothered to check in on us to see if we needed anything. We felt like we were being watched by hawks the entire night because of their "suspicions". When we are a bunch of 30+ year olds being treated like we are underage kids trying to sneak in a drink, you can bet that I would never make the mistake of returning to this establishment ever again.

We had a large group (7) on Super Bowl Sunday. We were seated in the bar area at a large round booth, which was a little tight given the size of our party. This set up worked for us because we were casual and wanted to keep an eye on the game. If you have a large group, you might want to check on where you will be seated since this location is not in the dining room. The food was very good - tuna, scallops, roasted cod - all enjoyed their meal. For dessert people had the fruit crumble and ice cream sandwich, both were good. The service was good, the waitress was mostly on top of things. An improvement would have been noticing when we needed additional drinks. For a chain restaurant, it would be hard to get better seafood.

The service was very good. Our reservation was on time, no wait. The drinks were very good. My issue is with my scallops. They were really under cooked. Should of sent it back and that was my fault. I thought is was typical Legal Seafood prices, but the food was just ok.

The food is always enjoyable, but the lighting is dim and annoying. It was difficult to read the menu. Bad lighting does not equal ambience, but if you are going to the theater, the food and location are worth the trip.

The location is perfect, the service was fine, but on this, my third trip to Legals, it was strike 3 on the food. My coffee looked like mud, and when asked the waitress said " our coffee is really bad". Easy to fix? The menu, for me, just tries too hard to be different. Even very familiar items have odd ingredients mixed in. The butternut squash risotto was ok, but very sweet due to the addition of maple syrup, why? My daughter did enjoy the fish tacos very much. My Cesar salad with chicken had a very unpleasant dressing, unlike any of the countless such salads I've had over the years. I had hesitated to go again based on past experiences, but the location is perfect for the Opera House.

Absolutely the worst of Legal Seafood's restaurants. The service was rude, dismissive and failed to deliver at minimal service levels. Sent back one dish that was dried out and overcooked. Left others only partially eaten as the preparation and execution was lacking. Local management clearly is ineffective, never checked in with our table despite sending food back. The wait staff , bar staff and hostess were all congregating in the front of the restaurant looking unprofessional. I will never return too this venue. Very disappointing.

The service was just okay. 2 of us had a Scorpion Bowl (menu said would serve up to 4 people) and neither of us were overly impressed with the quantity for 35$. We shared a number of small plates and found the following: The mussels were decent, the Octopus was good, the steak tips good, but the calamari was over-cooked and rubbery. This wasn't fried calamari, and we knew it prior to ordering, we've had it seared before at the now closed Crooners and Cocktails in Portland where it was delicious, and this was far from delicious, we didn't even eat it. We also had smashed cucumbers which were fine. Nothing here to justify the pricing.

Everything was excellent until......
The food was very good. We ordered 2 appetizers, a bottle of wine, 2 entrees, an after dinner drink, dessert and a latte. All of the food and drinks were delicious. Unfortunately, it was all ruined at the end of the night, when we were asked to leave! They told us there was another reservation at 7 pm and we had to go. We were actually shocked and embarrassed. We were at the restaurant less than 90 minutes! The after dinner drinks and latte were late and did not arrive until we had almost finished our dessert. We were unable to finish our Grand Marnier because we had to leave the restaurant. It is such a shame. Everything was excellent until that horrible customer service at the end of the dinner. What a finale! We are season ticket holders to the Boston Opera House across the street, but we will never return to Legal Crossing again. Too bad, the food was great, but customer service is more important. Blu also has delicious food and their customer service is unsurpassed! Looks like from now on, we will go to Blu.
