Legal C Bar - Hingham Ratings and Reviews
My raspberry sangria had no rum in it?
We were embarrassed for Legal when they brought shrimp cocktail....5 (not 6) medium shrimp on a huge iced oyster tray??? Pad Thai noodles were not cooked; green beans were swimming in chopped garlic Noticed that no sides are included with the choice of fish and preparation. Years ago, it was 2 sides, then one side, now a la carte.
However, the coconut rice was very good, the hoison salmon also good and the sashimi appetizer never lets us down. Too much expansion; quality suffers. ($$$)
Always had a good meal here at Legal C in Hingham but this evening was a bit disappointing. Went to celebrate Mother's Day. Service was great. Sat down right away. The food was disappointing. Ordered the special appetizer Cajun Soft Shell Crab. Great pr sensation but the crab was extra salty to the taste. Order the Hoisin Salmon which came wth a veggie pad Thai. The salmon was ok but the veggie pad Thai that the piece of salmon was one was swimming in a very salty soup. Wish there was less sauce.
I have been to this Legal location several times and have never had a bad experience. They really came through on Mothers Day which is known as the "Super Bowl in the restaurant industry. We started with an app of Thai Curry mussels which were quite tasty. Entrees selected consisted of fish and chips, sole imperial which was a market catch special, grilled shrimp and crab cake and scallop combo plate. Everybody enjoyed their meal. Meal was topped off with a delightful slice of carrot cake. Yum! We were seated promptly. Service was spot on. For such a busy day the restaurant seemed to be well managed.
We had an excellent Mother's Day dinner at Legal C Hingham. They handled special dietary requests easily and expertly. Appetizers, entrees, wine, and carrot cake dessert were all delicious. Very good service from the entire staff made it an especially good experience.
My first time at this location. This was for a day-before-Mother's-Day luncheon that included two mothers, a grandmother, and a baby. Very accommodating of the baby (they brought a high chair promptly). Great food, attentive service, scrupulous attention to GF issues (all Legal Sea Food restaurants have been very good on that for us, and I have been to at least seven). I had a shrimp Po' Boy special; the fried shrimp were perfect, and the french fries were thick-cut and stayed hot for quite a while. They also had appetizers (sweet/spicy ribs, deviled egg with bacon and blue cheese) that I had not encountered at other Legal Sea Foods locations. Although our table was toward the back, we got a decent amount of natural light from the large windows at the front of the restaurant. When we arrived for our 12:30 reservation, the restaurant was maybe 1/4 full; when we left at 2:30, the place was packed. I am looking forward to coming back.
We booked our reservation about 30 mins prior to checking in. We asked for a booth. Didn't get it as it was a Friday and prime time. UNDERSTANDABLE. Thankfully we didn't as our waiter Thomas G. was UNBELIEVABLY AWESOME. Wicked on point from greetings to drinks to being truthfully when asked about entree. Having the Manager come over personnally to ask how everything was. Nice touch and nice to see they are in the moment. To seeing and having staff help each other out clearing empty dishes. That is not seen very much or even at all. So now to the food, my husband got the fish and chip, he loved it. Perfectly crisp and fries on point. My 9 year old got the lobster bake. She loved every ounce from clam chowder to the Lobster (perfectly cooked). And me, the Seafood Paella. It was perfectly cooked, plenty of shrimp, clam, calamri and chicken. We skipped dessert as we were pleseantly full.
We went to Legal C Bar on a Sunday evening at the end of school vacation and it was quiet at 6 pm. Food great - as usual. Both of us had the filet of sole (enormous portion) with 2 sides. Heather was our server and efficient and friendly as usual. No problem in changing sides that came with meal. Enjoyed dinner and think good value for what you get.
Disappointed in the service this weekend. The restaurant wasn't too busy this past Saturday. We arrived at around 7 had a drink and were seated by 7:20. Ordered our soup and meal with the waitress, we barely had a bite of soup and dinner was delivered. Mentioned that to the person who delivered the meal, not our waitress ...who we only saw when we ordered. Very disappointed it all came so fast. Felt we were rushed through our meal. We were done by 7:50 . Not sure if we will come back soon.
I am a fairly frequent diner at this Legal location. Food is consistently good as is service. We started with an appetizer of calamari which was just ok. Calamari were small in size and slightly over cooked. I enjoyed an entree of shrimp pad Thai which was very good. My dining companion thoroughly enjoyed perch fish and chips which was an evening special. Portions more than adequate.
The best place for a group to meet - or - to have a date night. Really go there anytime your on route 3. Food is way better than the sports pubs in the area and bartender are educated and don't just play on their phones all night. Make a reservation especially on nights that everyone else's is going to hang out there. Summer is coming.
I am a frequent diner at this Legal location. Food is always good. I enjoyed a seasonal menu special of skrei. It was delish and cooked perfectly. Skrei was served with a pea purée and side of a light slaw. My dining companion chose fish and chips which were very good. Large portion of fish with fries and cole slaw. He deemed it one of the best fish and chip plates he has had. Service very good. Seated right away. A minor pet peeve of mine is when servers clear the table of everything including silver ware while others are still eating. I did experience this while I was dining but chose to overlook it.
Always outstanding food! Legal never lets you down. We took out of town guests there and they thoroughly enjoyed the chowdah, calamari and crab cakes! But truly everything is delicious and so fresh! Have been enjoying Legal for over 30 years, in various locations.
Went for a family dinner to celebrate and called ahead for a reservation. Our server was excellent and didn't make us feel rushed on a busy Friday night. The food was delicious and the calamari in particular was cooked perfectly. Great cocktail selection- clean and well run.
The day we went they were out of so many items of which one of our party wanted to come here specifically for (Cali sushi rolls). We found errors on the bill - overcharged for kids drinks - and only 1 out of 5 kids liked/ate their food - kid loved the Mac & Cheese; kids did not like fish & Chips, patty melt or pizza. Ordered an overpriced steamed lobster which came out very chewy, too. Quality has gone downhill especially when hit with unexpected large crowds, like a holiday. Hmm.
This is one of our favorite place to eat. The service is always friendly and prompt. We are never disappointing with our food whether it is perfectly cooked steak tips or sweet & flavorful scallops. The wine list is varied and the cocktails change with the season.
