   Excellent food. Excellent service. And I highly recommend getting the wine pairing as well. Derek was particularly helpful with the wines. They also made me a mean martini. I will definitely be back next time I’m visiting York some of the best food I’ve had in a very long time.

   An absolutely fabulous meal! The food was prepared by top class chefs and served by knowledgeable and friendly waiters and sommelier in a beautiful setting. The menu was inventive and portions were just right. Not a single thing disappointed. We have stayed at the Grand on a number of occasions, and had been encouraged to try Legacy. This visit coincided with a birthday, so we took the chance and were so glad that we did. There were many highlights - too many to decide on a favourite. A cheese and pickle sandwich like no other I have ever seen. We thought this would be a "once in a lifetime" experience, but may have to reconsider.

   This was my second visit to Legacy, and once again, the food and service were exceptional. The option to choose dishes for certain courses adds a personal touch that really enhances the experience. The recent addition of the cheese trolley was a highlight—an excellent selection of cheeses, with the team on hand offering thoughtful and helpful recommendations. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

   The food and the menu concept are well studied and executed. The restaurant is in a beautiful room inside of an historic building. Service was good, specially Charlie was present and precise in her explanation and support. you can feel her enthusiasm. the dinner is too long for a 6 course menu + amuse bouche and bread. there was too short waiting between two mains and too long between pre-dessert and dessert (over 20 mins). the dessert didn’t meet my palate, but it is just personal. the premium wine flight is too expensive for 4 glasses and no refill. specially if you add Cloudy Bay sauvignon blanc among the premium selection, which is not right to me. I found the pairing not 100% correct: first two wines where sauvignon (first blended either viognier) and might be better to offer something different. they were a little bit overpowering vs food. the Syrah from Chile was nice but not a good pairing with the sweetbreads, but good with the duo duck. Desert wine was a good pairing but didn’t meet my taste. Price was probably just above the overall experience. might be an experience for £130/150 a person and not £200 (including service, water and other drinks). it is a 7 out of 10.

   We have been so looking forward to this evening ... it did not disappoint in fact it exceeded our expectations! Everything from the ambiance - staff ( professional yet friendly and knowledgeable) to the outstanding food and wine pairings We cannot recommend this restaurant enough !

   Fantastic tasting course menu with excellent service to match. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and tweaked the menu for my wife as she was pregnant so she was till able to enjoy the full experience. Looking forward to the next menu change!

   I was looking forward to my birthday meal at Legacy and it didn't disappoint, the meal was perfect from start to finish. The staff were attentive without being overbearing, the sommelier was very knowledgeable . We opted for the eight course tasting menu with wine and every course was fantastic. We also opted for the monkfish course from the Great British Menu , a great experience having watched the programme. Ahmed also came out to talk to us at the end of the meal, which was a nice touch . Would highly recommend.

   We really enjoyed our tasting menu at Legacy - the ambience was lovely and the staff were excellent, making us feel very welcome and explaining the different menus and wines. We had the ‘stone’ menu with the related wine pairing, and each item was delicious and filling. It was, unsurprisingly, very expensive so a very special event and not something we could do very often.

    Not really convinced that the “stone, water, steel” have any valid thematic meaning as (only slightly) different tasting menus but the food is excellent. Over-explaining food and wine seems a trend at the moment so I can’t downmark for that, particularly when done well and with knowledge, enthusiasm and humour. Some genuinely terrific dishes here - scallop; the rhubarb, apparently only me. And the unexpected petit fours: negroni jelly!
