One of my favorite places in the city. Great food, gracious and unpretentious vibe.
The staff, food and a atmosphere was outstanding! We highly recommend this neighborhood gem!
I switched my reservation twice bc I was unsure of what time I was going to make it and I basically got scolded by the Host. Not to mention the entire restaurant was empty, he made me feel like I had to apologize to him for going there, this really turned me off and I will not be returning to this establishment. The food was good, typical city brunch food, nothing special
Left bank was perfect for two couples. Food was fantastic and the setting was very comfortable. Not too noisy—yay! Hard to find that in a restaurant. Service very prompt and friendly. Highly recommend
We love to hear it! Thank you for the kind words.
I’ve been seeing their cacio e pepe all over Instagram and have been dying to try ... and it did NOT disappoint. It was AMAZING. I dined on Valentine’s Day (and showed up an hr late due to a wardrobe malfunction) but they were sooo accommodating which was very appreciated. We sat the the bar and had great drinks made by Max, and a great meal. I’ll for sure be back!
So happy to hear you had a fabulous Valentine's Day, wardrobe malfunction and all! Glad our cacio e pepe lived up to the hype. Want to know what makes ours so special? Shallots!
Great staff and amazing food, really comfy environment
Our first time here. We enjoyed our meal, but there wasn’t anything SO spectacular we felt makes a return visit a high priority.
Went in for brunch. Waters we filled super fast but our lukewarm coffees did not arrive until after the meal sadly. The food was tasty and well portioned. After the table was cleared we waited for a lengthy amount of time for our server to see us so that we could ask for the check. Overall, we were in good company in a comfortable atmosphere but the large amount of time waiting may deter a future visit. And if we do, we will be sure to have our caffeine before hand!
Sorry to hear we did not put our best foot forward during your Sunday brunch experience. A lukewarm coffee is most definitely disappointing. We take constructive criticism very seriously and continuously choose to learn & grow from our mistakes. We hope you do decide to return- we'll be sure the coffee is piping hot and that you do not have to wait for your check!
After having provided my credit card to hold the brunch reservation for a dining room table, I arrived (early!) only to be told that there is no dining room table available and that I should sit at a high top table right in front of the drafty front door (it’s February). We sat at the high top table and asked to be seated in the dining area when a table opens up. We were told we can start eating at the high top and then be moved. No server came to offer water - I asked to be served. About 20 minutes later someone came w water. We were moved to the dining room and the wait continued. 20 minutes later someone asked if we’d like to order. Still no water. We were in the restaurant for an hour and fifteen minutes before we received our food. God help anyone who asks for water, food, bill, etc. each step takes at least 30 minutes and no one seems to care.
This restaurant isn’t anything special. Everyone does farm to table and you have to be a moron to mess up brunch.
This is way way way ridiculous of atmosphere (white, hipster, pretentious), very average food, and horribly infuriating service.
Great food and attentive service, what more can you ask for?
Nothing was bad but nothing was exceptional either. I guess I was expecting something memorable as it was part of Restaurant Week. Plus, many choices on the Restaurant Week menu require supplemental payments. My over-all review would be "just okay."
The Trout, chicken, mussels, and steak frites were excellent. Service was considerate. The dining experience was well worth our visit.
Great food from apps to dessert.
Where Left Bank excels is in it's first impression. It has a lovely ambiance, and is filled with really warm & comforting decor. For the food itself, I don't have any real complaints outside of being a little bit uninspired when it comes to the sides & it's presentation. Frankly, the poor taste which I left with had almost entirely to do with the service. As someone who's served in a multitude of Manhattan restaurants growing up, It's rare I take a position, but it was inattentive, rude, & forgetful from the moment we sat down.
When your busboy is the most polite & attentive service member, you might have a problem. When you politely ask your server for another round of drinks, you'd expect to get that round of drinks... If you don't want an appetizer, than you don't want an appetizer. It's simple as that. It's very easy to see through curt attempts to upsell, especially when followed by a complete lack of interest & care in your experience when told no. I left disappointed, and frankly a bit embarrassed as I was hosting family & friends from out of town who rarely make the trek into the city for a visit.
I just love that place, we had sunday with friends we haven't seen for a while and we felt comfortable to stay there for at least an hour after we were done with food, and the food was VERY good. Every time we r there, everyone was super pleasant. Thank you again!
The food was good but not great at this West Village locale. There was no mention when making the reservation of choosing a high-top table or regular seated table, and we were stuck with a high-top for this night out. Service was great and the ambiance was as expected, but a couple things about this place keep it below that Grade A experience.
Host was extremely rude. Made me and the others I was with not want to return to the restaurant.
Hi there, We are so sorry to hear that we did not put our best foot forward upon your arrival to dine with us on Friday evening. Thank you for letting us know and we will do what we can to prevent this from happening in the future. Danielle
Great round table! Wonderful time
We got there early for the special and had an amazing dinner. The butternut squash gnocchi was like Thanksgiving in my mouth. Another great dinner here!
We go here at least once every 2 weeks. Always a good staple place to go to. The service is friendly, food is great, ambiance is perfect. There is a reason why this is one of the few restaurants who survives in this area of the West Village. The endive salad is a favorite as is the gnocchi. While I personally like a red sauce for the bolognese, their version is very good.
Left Bank is a delightful neighborhood restaurant serving delicious, seasonal fare in a warm atmosphere. Chef Laurence Edelman and his team use high quality, local ingredients and bring them to their fullest potential without overdoing anything. The Beef Tartare, for example, was classic, full of flavor and served with crunchy toast points. The pastas are all made from scratch. The potato gnocchi was soft, pillowy goodness served with late summer corn, cherry tomatoes and fresh herbs all at their peak. Service was friendly and attentive. I always leave Left Bank satisfied and looking forward to my next dinner there. I highly recommend this West Village gem!
Great place , amazing food
Great menu, food consistently good!
We had a great dinner - many thanks
Lovely happy hour bar with very reasonable prices! Lots of room and not too busy for a Thursday evening. We loved the Restaurant Week menu and enjoyed all of our dishes; however, something was off with the firing - it took an excessive amount of time to receive our appetizers and, in particular, mains. The hostess explained that they were busy; however, it didn’t seem any busier than most prime West Village restaurants (and I am a longtime neighborhood resident and know what I’m talking about!). I appreciate that things may be busy, but the length of time made it a bit of a subpar experience vis-a-vis my other top WV dinner picks. Still - the happy hour and delicious, high quality food saved the evening, and I would visit again.
Excellent service. Fantastic food. Off the regular menu we had grilled octopus and mac n cheese with tomato soup dip was outrageous!! Drinks were vibrant, flavorful and strong. Bolognese was great and dessert , chocolate mousse, topped it off. Highly recommend
Casual, service oriented restaurant with friendly staff and very diverse menu
The meal was lovely and the service engaging. The problem was that the ac barely worked. Not awful, but rather uncomfortable. The Restaurant Week menu was a great sample of the usual menu. This is a true neighborhood gem.
Eaten here a number of times . This evening the chicken wasnt up to par, a bit dry and too salty. Also the A/C was not adequate for a warm humid evening
All good, great entree just a little slow in service but not too bad if you in a rush.
Great music
This is a laid back, sweet place with usually good food, but today’s brunch left me wondering whether it’s worth ever coming back. The brunch menu is very limited, not even bread with salsa or entrees. Unfortunately, I had the tuna Niçoise. Nice tuna, but soupy with salad dressing, overflowing with those pitted, pickled green olives, not the expected oil-cured niçiose type. The overall pickled flavor ended up making it taste like a jar of supermarket pickles. Lovely service, but I doubt I can stomach going back. I used to love the food here. Today it’s like a bad chain place.
Poor menu. No flavor on salad. Bread expensive add-on. No ham. No almond milk.
Never again.
Great ambiance, but the food was a bit salty the last time I visited as well as this time. However, the food is very fresh and delicious (better with less salt). Recommend especially their happy hour.
I already have although last time there the noise level was too high. The service is very good and
the food is too. I can't remember if there is a good chicken dish on the menu, Either fried or baked.
I have recommended the restaurant and will again in the future.
Food was exceptionally good drinks with great a little pricey and the entire staff was very nice we were very comfortable and the noise level was not bad at all. for a small place it was very nice and relaxing atmosphere. It was our first time there and we were extremely surprised because everything was amazing. Can’t wait to go back. Enjoy
Love the guest chef program. Love the regular chef as well, so it's a wonderful combo.
Great atmosphere!
Bad service, maybe because it was during restaurant week, but good food.
Hello, We are so sorry to hear this. It being Restaurant Week should have nothing to do with the service you received. It is a way for us to participate in a fun, dinner promotion for locals and tourists alike. If you would kindly shed some more details as to what went wrong, we are always looking to grow as a restaurant and learn from our mistakes. Danielle
The hostess was awesome - very friendly. The guest chef stopped by our table to tell us about the dishes he was creating and then again to see if we were enjoying the meal. Our water was just the right combination of familiar and professional.
