About Left Bank NYC
Left Bank is at its core a New York bistro, inspired by Greenwich Village itself, and influenced by European sensibilities. From our landmarked building in Manhattan's historic district, large bay windows on both sides reflect our open-book, unpretentious style of cooking and service. Our food is inspired by our local farmers, recipes of days gone by, and the relationships we have with our guests. Left Bank continues to evolve with an entrepreneurial spirit and a sincere desire to serve simple, wholesome, delicious food and drink to New Yorkers and passersby. We are now open for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.

Left Bank NYC Ratings and Reviews
It's always a pleasure to visit NYC and dine at Left Bank. This cozy neighborhood restaurant is friendly with many neighbors stopping in for dinner and a drink. It's reminiscent of New York in another time. However, the food is very serious and shows loving preparation by everyone in the kitchen. I started with the calamari appetizer and the newly added Coq Au Vin. The sauces were exceptional on both and showcased the high quality of ingredients as well as the skill in the kitchen. Pastas are housemade and served perfectly al dente with a variety of sauces. I had the Orecchiette, with sausage and kale ragu. The sauce was slow cooked overnight and the flavors were delicious, creamy and satisfying. The maple syrup pie with creme fraiche is a signature dessert and not to be missed. The wine list is well curated and pairs nicely with the cuisine. Service is always warm and friendly. Left Bank feels like home, and is a gem in the West Village. I love this restaurant and look forward to my next dining experience.
Food was really bad. Especially for the price. I wouldn’t feed my dog the steak I️ ordered. Given, We also got a few cocktails and appetizers, but everyone else at the table got pasta as a main course and for $400 I’d say we certainly could have done a lot better.
Absolutely loved this place! The atmosphere is wonderful, the staff were attentive and friendly and the food was delicious. I got the cacio e pepe which was incredible, and our waiter even let us speed-order to get the happy hour specials which was very nice. Overall a great experience and would recommend.
We read about the Left Bank's happy hour special so we decided to give it a try. The happy hour includes an appetizer and pasta entree for $25. Of course it doesn't include the entire menu and upon seeing the rest of the menu we got excited and decided to order off the full menu. We started with steak tartar and grilled calamari. The steak tar tar was kind of a deconstructed version as it was more untreated with all the accoutrements on the side. It was a fun treatment of this appetizer but not the best version we've had. The calamari was in a stewed red sauce with green and black olives and was really delicious. The calamari even had a nice charred hue to it.
For our entrees we got the potato gnocchi with butternut squash in an incredible butter sauce. It was decadent and scrumptious. A perfect fall dish. We also got the grilled brook trout with salsa verde and roasted potatoes. First of all the potatoes were crispy yet tender inside. Perfectly prepared! The fish was also perfectly prepared and the salsa verde was an ideal accompaniment although we would have preferred a little more of that.
We finished our meal with the dark chocolate mousse. I have to say that I LOVE chocolate mousse and it has been awhile since I have had a version that I thought was worth writing about. This was one of them. Delicious finish to a wonderful night. And not to be forgotten was the great wait staff that was spot on.
Wanted a quiet place to meet an old friend to catch up. Sat in the larger of the two rooms. Eli, our waiter was terrific. Had the chicken which was so juicy and the skin super thin and crispy. Delicious. Shaved brussel sprout salad with pignoli nuts was not what I was expecting but also very good. Reasonably priced and very cozy. Quiet enough to talk easily.
Our dinner was pure pleasure! Oysters were well-cleaned and smooth. Octopus was outstanding. Cacio e pepe just melted in your mouth. Roast chicken was hands down the best I've ever had! The hake was delicious without being heavy. And the desserts were to die for! Will definitely be coming back often!
The food is simply not up to NYC standards. The brandade (salted cod) was the only good dish of the night -- smooth, not too salty, with crispy browned edges and well placed olives and tomato. Everything else was a disappointment. Brussels sprouts salad was dry and lacked enough supporting ingredients. The octopus (usually such an easy dish) was totally misguided. The steak was utterly flavorless, though to be fair we were told upfront that it was a lean cut... but why serve a cut you know to have no flavor, and have it be the most expensive entree??? I have to say, though, that the accompanying frites were delicious. I was intrigued by the dessert options, but by then, we decided to just leave.
A delicious complimentary dessert (maple syrup pie) was brought to us. Steak tartare, capricci cacio e pepe and seared cod were all fantastic. Tiramisu was one of the best I'd ever tasted. The house rosè was very good. Staff was friendly, helpful and professional.
Menu seems very limited, more than we'd rememebered. The food is excellent -- we had the fish special (cod) and chicken, along with the delicious Brussel sprouts and oysters. Again, the food is delicious, just wish there were more options. Our waiter was great and the hostess called me, after we'd left, to let me know that we'd left a jacket at the table. We were very pleased with the service.
I went to dinner with an old college buddy. We got the endive Caesar salad. It was a little too salty but still really good.
For entrees, we got the Iron Roast Split Chicken. It was delicious. The skin was crispy. We also got the codfish. It comes with fried capers. I couldn't tell they were fried and didn't love them and usually do love capers.
Overall though, I loved the food. It's not as busy as Aria and the Spotted Pig down the block, but the food is just as good in my opinion.
Cute restaurant in the West Village. Interesting menu with several unique items (e.g., roasted onion and pesto soup, ginger thyme cocktail, maple syrup pie). Great restaurant week menu with full size portions (many restaurants skiing for restaurant week).
And on the night I went, they were donating 30% of their proceeds from 7-9pm to Best Friends Animal Society whose mission is to save all the animals and end the homeless people population. Loved that they were doing this!
Charming restaurant in the heart of Greenwich Village. Not a huge dinner menu but lovely choices. Our waiter was helpful explaining menu and suggesting appropriate wines. We followed his suggestions and had an excellent dinner. Service and ambience also excellent.
