I ordered Bouillabaisse to go cost $38.00. When I got home it was about 1/2 cup and hardly no broth. Definitely not worth $38.00. Drink was good. Location was good.

Was super excited to eat here as it’s newer to my neighborhood. Made a reservation just in case but wasn’t necessary as it was nearing the end of brunch. All was great until we asked to move tables (before ordering our drinks) so a friend could join us. As we were moving we immediately let the server know we were ready to order and eat (since 15 min had passed since being there). He didn’t really acknowledge it and muttered something about taking care of us etc. Once we ordered drinks and pressured into getting a starter special, we also ordered a salad that was forgotten about. I want to say it was about 30min before we got to even order our mains, we were practically begging, mind you this was BRUNCH! Lol. We kept feeling like we were getting pranked….once we got our meal as soon as the server dropped my dish off I asked for hot sauce and they said right away. They just disappeared, and I’m staring at the hot sauce at the sever station 10 feet from us. SO confused! We just kept laughing lol. I could go on and on but I won’t. Thank goodness it was a gorgeous day and we had a view of the water. I will try once more for dinner but please speed it up!!! A near empty restaurant should not be holding us hostage for 2+ hours ;)

In general, we really like Left Bank @ JLS. However, there were a few issues with the kitchen in our last visit. Several of the dishes were overcooked. The side of green beans, which is usually delicious, was limp - beans were overcooked/mushy and the shallots were burned. Usually there is a slow cook on the shallots and they are very tender and mild and the beans still have some life in them but not this time. Similar issue with my burger. It was generally cooked to medium, but the outside was pretty darn charred so most of it tasted burnt even though the inside was still pink-ish. A side of squash was also completely charred over on one side of the squash, the other sides had no color at all. I also think the portion size for the sides is a bit skimpy. I'd rather pay a bit more and have a decent portion size then spend $8 on such a small amount.

It’s hard to find authentic French cuisine., but the menu at Left Bank is perfect. The cocktails look great, too, although we didn’t order any. We celebrated a birthday at 3 p.m. We brought our small dog and had a wonderful outdoor table. The waitstaff was efficient and genuinely friendly and attentive (but not bothersome). The food was divine: oysters, escargots and mussels. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We had a fantastic time at this new Left Bank location. The interior was beautiful, though being such a nice day, their deck seating couldn’t be beat. Between my six colleagues and I we pretty much covered the entrees and as near as I tell, everyone was thrilled. My trout almandine was perfectly seasoned cooked. Highly recommend.

The location is great and we were able to get a table right away. However the food was mediocre at best. It is hard to think how their cook could mess up such simple dishes. Service was very slow - probably due to a slow kitchen and lack of trained staff but our waiter was nice and efficient when time allowed him to pay attention to us. Wines are way overpriced. Overall this was not a place I would recommend to anyone.

Dining tonight in one of their booths. Wonderful service by our waiter Josh. Lemon drop Cocktails are flowing. Noise level is quiet as everyone sitting outside by the water. Out table enjoyed a shared salad and fries. I enjoyed the seafood bouillabaisse with delicious sauce. Other e trees ordered were roasted chicken, trout almond one, hamburger- food is consistently good which is why I like coming here.

Outdoor seating is lovely with plenty of heat lamps if cool weather’ good food and drink’ we celebrated adult daughters birthday and they gave her a surprise dessert’ very enjoyable dinner with good service’ on weekends there are also live bands outside in the summer providing great music

Jerrod was our server and he was great. Did a great job describing the special and making sure that the courses came out on time. We didn’t feel rushed nor did we feel hungry after the plates were cleared. When the dessert course came around a breeze/wind kicked up and he offered us a table inside to have dessert. Great idea and a fantastic way to finish up a great evening out on the town

We arrived after lunch and before dinner so it was quiet. Wait staff very attentive without being annoying. Food was so good. We each had a tomato watermelon feta salad. One of us also had French onion soup. Not disappointed- exceeded our expectations.

I’ve been a regular for many years in Left Bank, Menlo Park, so I was excited to find out that the same restaurant opened up in Oakland. Unfortunately though, food was just ok. My steak was disappointingly chewy, while the fries and arugula salad were both too seasoned that they were very salty. Kids’ macaroni and cheese was also just ok, nothing special. The pork chop, however, was a decent size and tasted better than the steak. Escargots and fried calamari appetizers did not disappoint. IF I come back to try this location again, I will pass on steak frites and order something else.

Great zero proof drinks and excellent food. If you like escargot Left Bank has it on the appetizers and it is excellent! It’s a large space so it wasn’t very dull on an early Sunday evening.

This was our second visit to Left Bank. Our first meal there was lovely but unfortunately this time the service was very slow, although the wait staff was very friendly. Perhaps they were shorthanded in the kitchen and bar. The other concern was a couple of large VERY loud groups of patrons. Their commotion made it difficult to hold a conversation among our party of 4.

This was our second time, and for the second time we were left kinda underwhelmed. No fault of our server, Jared, who was phenomenal, but they were obviously understaffed, and both food and drinks took over 30 minutes to come out. We were seated a little before 7 and didn't have our main course in front of us til 815.

The food was okay. Not many options for vegan. My friend (non-vegan) joined me and her salmon was not seasoned. I had a mushroom dish (they took out something that was non-vegan. It was okay. We spent about 60 dollars a piece which seems really over priced for what you get. I wouldn’t order it again. Loved the wait staff and would go back for drinks.

Sitting outside in Jack London Square on a warmer-than-usual summer evening is a great set-up for an enjoyable meal. This was our first visit to Left Bank and it was an overall success! The French Onion soup was perfect, even to the extent that it came to the table at a temp that was easy to enjoy right away (rather than boiling hot). The Mushrooms Bourguignon was a delicious blend of flavors, and the Steak Frites was as it should be. However, the Stone Fruit Clafoutis was a disappointment - there was no discernable fruit in the dish, and the texture was more rubbery than custard-like. (I've also enjoyed a version of this that was cake-like, but this was neither).

It was a beautiful day at Jack London Square yesterday. We had not been to this restaurant before and loved their patio area. Food was very good. Service was also very good in the beginning but kind of tapered off about halfway through our meal. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and will return.
