Lee Chen is an Asian bistro in Yorkville. It captures the spirit of the tapas experience with an Asian twist offering a wide variety of small plates that are perfect for sharing. The menu depicts flavorful and colorful presentations that do not overstate the actual items received. A specialty at Lee Chen is the xiao long bao, which are soup filled dumplings that are freshly made and steamed to order. Other specialties at Lee Chen include steamed vegetable dumplings, Chinese crullers, almond fish, guai guai chicken, Thai green curry chicken, Korean beef lettuce wrap, ma po tofu, fried noodles, General Tso shrimp and Szechuan shrimp. Had the soup dumplings - amazing. The vegetable fried dumplings - great but vegetables aren't really my thing. The rice cake soup which was big and very tasty. The chow mein is also very flavourful and generously portioned.

Don't trust Open Table for reservations. There are many times available by phone that are not listed and five minutes before my reservation I mysteriously received an email that my reservation had been cancelled.

I had gone to this restaurant once before. The food does not disappoint. The food prices are on the higher end. However, the food quality is excellent. The food is consistent and comes hot and fresh. The interior of the restaurant is unique. Their Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) are worth the trip here.

the hostess and waiter are excellent - attentive but not intrusive. Respond to special requests - very accommodating. food is excellent and waiter is very helpful in making recommendations. noise level is low and so conversation can happen without shouting.

Visited Toronto for a week with friend and I cannot recall WHY I made a reservation but I had. The day before we were perusing the menu, and were considering cancelling but I must say we were glad that we did not. The food was incredibly delicious, not typical Chinese cuisine, flavos were wonderful. Service was also excellent, especially Cecilia and Vincent. Lved the cold sesame noodles.

The soup dumplings and onion pancakes are my favourite! Great for appetizers or a light meal. Plenty of other great dishes on the menu.

Lee Chen has very nice decors and vibe located at the heart of Yonge/Bloor. The dinner menu has a lot of options but the authentically of the food is just not there. For example spicy beef noodle soup wasn't spicy, Lychee bubble tea tasted artificial with not-so-fresh tea, etc. Overall price to taste ratio is not very high and I much rather prefer Asian Legend. Having said that, I have also been to the restaurant a few times during lunch and the lunch specials are very good and tasty.

It's almost as good as what one would find in Markham and unlike many Markham places, it's friendly to those who cannot read Chinese. I swear, as someone of Chinese descent but born here and unable to read the language, I often run into issues at 905 Chinese restaurants. They somehow don't "respect" us as much. Anyway, I would highly recommend the soup dumplings (xiao long bao) and green onion pancakes (chong yao beng) as well as Thai green curry chicken spaghetti (fairly unique to the restaurant - I don't think I've seen this elsewhere in the GTA). The pulled pork bao is also very good. One thing to note: Many dishes (e.g. Wuxi spareribs) are SUPPOSED to come with Shanghai bok choy (according to the menu), but are really accompanied with gai lan. Not that it really matters, but dishes should reflect the menu, no?

The soup dumplings (xiao long bao) reminds me of Shanghai (my hometown and where those dumplings originate). They are the best and most autheic dumplings I ever tasted in downtown Toronto! The soup noodles is a must try as well. Very impressed!
