Ledger Restaurant & Bar
Ledger is open with dinner service Tuesday through Sunday, as well as Saturday and Sunday Brunch 10am - 2pm. Come enjoy our Bar Bites menu and oysters from 4pm to 6pm at the bar!
Everything was as it should be. Service and food were top notch!
Went for our anniversary. Had an outstanding meal as always. Our waitress and the staff made our night very special with little touches. Every time we dine here we are continually impressed. Would not hesitate to come back soon.
For our Wedding Anniversary, we went to Salem, where we were married and Heard good things about Ledger. It is a beautiful space, no TV to distract. That lead to a lively bar. We were seated at a table. First we had the oysters. They were accompanied by a very different cocktails sauce. I assume it was house made, and is a bit addictive. The manager came over with a glass of champagne for my wife and I. That was a very nice touch. My meal was marinated hangar steak, and it was delicious. Highly recommended!
POPovers POP sensational
ICE cream Flavors out of this world!
Really great food. A bit pricey for the area but the food is good and our waitress was great.
Hands down my favorite spot when I come to Mass. make a point to get to Salem just so I can eat here. Pork belly was incredible, along with everything else we ordered.
We've previously had dinner at Ledger and loved it; we've also heard great things about their brunch. Unfortunately, our experience did not align with what we've heard. Our server was not very attentive, food arrived barely warm instead of hot, and coffee was charged by cup which our server didn't alert us to when we asked for a refill.
We were there the week end after Halloween and of course Salem was still hopping. We were 6 and all the choices were different except the pop overs 3 orders of 2 ea.. They were wonderful and both the honey garlic butter and beef drippings added to the experience. Everyone was happy with their meal and we felt the 3 best were the pork shank, chicken, and pasta dish with squash and spinach. There were also 4 desserts and all rated highly. It is a little loud but not horrible and I believe because of the busy week some of the beers on the menu were not available. We will be back especially since Salem is often a place we visit for dining.
The prime rib is perfection!
Our server was very helpful. Interesting wines by the glass available. Food was great.
Great food, top notch service and best Bloody Marys in town.
Ledger is top notch in Salem
Yummy!!!! Great everything. A must when you are in Salem. The building used to be a bank and it is cool to see the history that has been preserved.
Food was great!
That’s was amazing, I like the place.
Absolutely must stop here for dinner if you’re in Salem! I just happened to walk by and make a reservation and I’m so glad I did. The ambiance, food, drinks and service was just stellar. I would drive the hour back to Salem just to dine here again.
We were greeted as we walked in by the sweetest hostess and the bartender wasn’t any different. Great first experience!!
Good food, excellent service, a little noisy but we had a nice booth. Food was served hot and no wait! Would recommend it.
I had a great time at Ledger. Cocktails were awesome and the food was delish!
The food was absolutely delicious! The squash bisque was the best I've ever had. I will definitely be making a trip back here the next time I'm in Salem.
We love Ledger. It continues to be THE place in Salem not only where we take our out-of-town guests but where we take ourselves for date night. I love the beautiful decor, the inventive cocktails, the delicious and simple menu, and the excellent service. The hosts are always super polite and the servers are attentive and friendly, too! There's such a high level of care in all that the folks at Ledger do. Bravo!
Second time in a row I made a reservation weeks in advance and was made to wait 20 minutes for my table. Super annoying habit of theirs.
We're from out of state but will always always visit Ledger when we're in town. The food is incredible- not overcomplicated but executed to perfection with attention to flavor and detail. We've loved everything we've ever had there from the starter popovers to seasonal cocktails to desserts. Ledger nails it! Their staff is top notch as well. After learning it was our first wedding anniversary, our server Oscar brought us little glasses of prosecco and had the back of house write us a special message in chocolate sauce when the desserts were brought out. Even at the height of Halloween madness we felt valued and, frankly, spoiled. We recommend Ledger most highly.
The Ledger was outstanding. It made out night in Salem just perfect!
The red headed bartender was slow, and not friendly. The restaurant had just opened at 11am and was not very busy. People actually left the bar where they were seated because it took to long to place their drink order. Menu very limited. They add on a 3% fee for kitchen appreciation. Ridiculous!
Good food, good service. Way way too loud, but what can you do, it was packed with people. Regardless I couldnt hear myself think at points. Still Id go back if I was in town.
Great service, great food, good location. Very noisy inside but quiet outside
Great food, one of the best meals I have had in awhile.
Amazing food and dining
We made a point to come back here after visiting last year and it did not disappoint! This is by far the best food in Salem. We enjoyed brunch cocktails and non alcoholic beverages as well. Me and my fiance both had different yet equally amazing dishes. The service and speed was amazing for how great the food was. I recommend this restaurant highly and cant wait to visit again.
Great ambiance and location, but poorly executed food. Dishes were bland and uninspired, aside from dessert. Legder tries too hard to be trendy and avant garde, but suffers from unrefined cooking and plating.
Superb evening provided by lively setting, attentive staff, great drinks and excellent food.
Every bite of food and every sip of drink was absolutely delicious. I never write reviews and i felt compelled to write one about this restaurant. SOO good. Get the apple drink (i forgot the exact name) it tastes like an apple pie. Burger was incredible.
We were here for dinner our first of five nights in Salem. The pork shank was incredible, as was the steak and tuna tartare. The skirt steak was cooked perfectly, the only reason I took away one star on the food, was the wild mushroom campanelle, which we had last visit, this time the mushrooms weren't cooked. Will definitely be back.
Everything was great but the popovers were incredible!
It was probably a mistake to go to Salem in October. We went to see the new wing at the Peabody-Essex Museum, but I had no idea how crazy the town gets as Halloween approaches.
We arrived about 15 minutes early, but they had no problem seating us right away. The place is gorgeous, an old bank building with high ceilings and exposed brickwork, turned into a modern and spacious restaurant. I ordered a glass of Riesling and my wife a half-bottle of Champagne.
Our appetizers came out quickly: a pair of giant popovers with a little cup of beef dripping - delicious and decadent - and wood-roasted carrots with some sort of cheese and bits of toasted hazelnuts, also outstanding. My wife decided to order two appetizers instead of a main: fried calamari and Brussels sprouts with Parmesan and za'atar. I ordered the Berkshire pork shank with smoked cheddar grits, grilled cabbage, and apples. The calamari were so-so, the rings a little tough. The sprouts were fine. My pork shank was enormous, but not good enough to make me strive to eat the whole thing. The sauce was fairly bland and lacking anything - mustard, acid - to cut the fattiness of the meat. There were two small apple rings on the plate, and they helped, but they were insufficient to have a piece of apple to go with every bite of meat. The grits were OK, nothing special, though the wedge of grilled cabbage was very good and I ate it all.
We don't often order dessert in restaurants, but they offered a stone fruit upside down cake and a red velvet tiramisu. The presentation was lovely, but the tiramisu was nothing like a proper tiramisu and the upside down cake lacked that essential interplay of yellow sponge cake, caramel, and sweet-acid fruit. We each had one bite of each and that was enough..
So all in all a so-so meal for a fairly stiff price. The service was excellent, attentive but not overbearing. Our waitress took the desserts off the bill and I left a generous tip. I doubt we'll go back.
The brunch was amazing! Everything was great and it is a terrific atmosphere.
The food and ambiance are fantastic. Have only ever tried their brunch menu, but it's enough to make me want to come back. Only thing lacking a little was service, as our server took a while to get to us after we sat down and the restaurant wasn't all that busy for first thing in the morning. People who were sat after us had drinks in hand before our server made his way over to us for the first time. Thankfully, the food made up for it.
Great food foods quick lunchtime bite and lovely service
