We made a reservation that was confirmed on open table. My sons were pretty excited about the menu. We got there a few minutes before our scheduled time and the hostess said they weren’t going to honor our confirmed reservation due to walk ins. She was extremely rude and said that open table is only a third party so they are not obligated. I opened the app and showed her the many open reservations still available for that evening which they obviously were not going to honor. I pointed out that she should at least close them out out of respect and courtesy and she continued her rudeness and told me that they will be closing their doors for good next week. I’m a pretty easy going and forgiving person but this was pretty appalling behavior.

I’d recommend this with reservations. We went on Mother’s Day after reading it was a neighborhood gem and the food was great. Well perhaps when it comes to finding German food in NYC it’s a gem. But it is really a dive —a dirty dive. But a dirty dive with good food. So don’t go if you expect anything more than that. I would not recommend it for a special occasion. Best for a stein and a bratwurst or schnitzel in very modest surroundings. Even themroof was leaking and there was a big Puddle by our table. You might want to wear wellies!

Lederhosen is a gem in the West Village. Great food, excellent beers and not too crazy. Also the prices are very reasonable considering the location.

Food and service were great! Seating is more family style with some regular and some picnic tables, but overall I would definitely go again!

Great beer and filling food. Come with a hungry stomach and be willing to get creative with food. Beer choices are varied and the sizes are challenging in nature. Das boot calls for me... next time. The food was tasty and filling.

Having lived in Germany and we travel there yearly, we were looking forward to a good NY German restaurant, we even invited friends to join us. Unfortunately this is not it. The service was quick and good with a good conversation. The beer and pretzels were good, the main dishes fair. Spätzle was actually long noodles not made in the restaurant, the meat was overdone, brotchen was replace by bread and the rot kohl ok. We have always had extremely good dishes in Germany and will continue to look for a NY equivalent.
