The restaurant is undergoing a menu change, so they had limited options. Our waiter Rick was excellent, explained the menu and was very efficient.
I wasn't in love with the food though. I ordered the brick chicken and it was VERY salty - I even had my son taste it and he agreed. I think it had been brined because it was very moist but oozed saltiness. The sides were bland - asparagus and mashed potatoes. The Caesar salad was tasty but served in an awkwardly small, high rimmed bowl. Since the leaves were uncut - it was really hard to cut them in the little bowl. The popover rolls were awesome though - loved them.
Leatherby's was very disappointing. The waiter was the best thing but he could not make up for the slow food service (ask 3 times for their popovers) and ok food. My husband ordered a martini but there were out of dry vermouth and had to use sweet. Not the same! Very pricey.
Overall, the experience was very good. I, however, felt like it took them too long to take the order and then to serve our dishes
Food took awhile and they were out of a main dish but they did their best to make up for it. Worth the wait. Food was delicious and great presentation of plates both dishes and dessert.
Leatherby's is next to the theater and gets seatings with the expectation that diners will be served on time to make the performance.
Our waiter knew we were going to the theater. He forgot our drinks (on the house once we asked again), we had to ask about bread service ($5), and our entree was brought to the table less than 15 minutes before curtain time. Needless to say we gulped down our meal. The food was very good though.
My prior experience was not that at all, so I will give the restaurant another chance.
We had a delightful pre-theatre dinner. I had the prix-fixe menu related to the show. The portions were well sized and it was delicious. The bartender made me a customized blood orange martini which was outstanding. I have been to brunch here in the past and that was great also. Service is impeccable.
We had a delecious pre theater dinner. Potato leek soup was rich and creamy. The beef stroganoff was excellent, made with tenderloin. The highlight was buche de Noel modernized by the pastry chef. It was a chocoholic’s delight.
Nice soft music and good service.
This restaurant has gone down hill since my family last visited. Our waiter, Jonathan, although attempting to make the best of the situation was doing everything except cook as they were understaffed that evening. The wines listed on the wine menu were not in stock. The Brussel sprout appetizer had 5 Brussel sprouts (yes, I counted them). Two in our party ordered steak - they were brought duck and pot roast as the steaks were not getting cooked in the kitchen. I ordered the striped bass, however it was not edible. After pulling back the flesh, the meat of the fish was a dark gray color and had an earthy smell. A bite told me it was well past its prime. Our reservation was for 4:00 and we were almost late to our 5:30 show which was in the same building.
How sad that such an elegant venue has turned so sour!
The food was very good but the kitchen is very poorly managed. Even though I reminded our waiter that we had a show to get to, we had to wait 25 minutes between the soup and salad to get our entrees. By that time, we only had time to eat half our dinners and we had to leave so we couldn’t have the desserts, even though they were included. We felt very rushed and we were very disappointed. The waiter didn’t offer any type of compensation. We will not be back. They are certainly aware that people come because of the proximity to the performing arts center, but apparently they don’t care about getting the food out of the kitchen in a timely manner.
the seabass and the steak were absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. The endive salad was also to die for!
