Leatherby's Cafe Rouge
That food was delicious, except I was disappointed with the risotto, which had too much liquid in it. The waiter and servers were excellent!
Great service. We ordered the Valentine special with Filet Mignon which melted in your mouth and a wonderful caviar!. Our waiter was so helpful and extremely friendly. Beautiful decor right next to the performing art center.
The restaurant was very busy due to Valentine's Day so service was a little slower than normal. But understandable. Food was great as always.
We have always enjoyed Leatherby‘s, however it has gotten too pricey...approx $150 for two people. The convenience of being near the theater and the symphony is wonderful, but I think we will try another restaurant for the next event. Sorry...
It was not my usual experience when I've been there before. Server seemed rushed possible more servers needed. I was waiting for an offer for a second glass of wine ,which didnt happen til dessert which was offered ,after a longer than usual wait after the dinner plates were removed. We felt were we forgotten.
Service is usually perfect.
Always an enjoyable dining experience at Leatherby's Cafe Rouge. The menu is great. The restaurant is located perfectly for performances at the Symphony and you can actually hear yourself speak while enjoying great food!
Food is outstanding, but the menu is much too limited. There needs to be more variety.
The soup arrived promptly and was the perfect temperature. The salad was attractive and quite delicious. I was very pleased.
Setting and ambiance are good, especially location for dining prior to a show. Makes it easy to walk right in after being parked etc. Starters / salads were excellent. Ordered cocktails which were very slow to come out. Also brought one bottle of wine for $20 corkage. Wife ordered the halibut which was overcooked, I had the filet of beef which was cooked nicely but under seasoned. Service was generally good but nothing remarkable.
It is a very nice venue that it is so close to SCFTA. The food is good, but not great, and the menu is somewhat limited. We had to remind the waiter about our wine with dinner choice. There were a couple of issues with our Friends of the Center rewards, and wonder why Open Table points are not available when we can make reservations on its booking site. I'd recommend it with the above mentioned comments.
Limited but excellent menu. Very good service. The most convenient restaurant in the vicinity of Segerstrom Center
Leatherby's is the perfect place for a special occasion or before attending an event at the Segerstrom Center or South Coast Repertory. Our server was exceptional and went out of his way to make sure everything was exactly to our liking without hovering. The food is wonderful but I wish the starters were a little less expensive or that they had a "small plates" menu so we could try more items (or come more often), but with their location, they can charge what they want, although there were very few diners there on Friday night and I think it can only be due to the prices as the service and chef creations are fabulous.
A very special evening with George as our waiter. A quiet evening at the restaurant, but that was perfect. The food was good, but not the best I have ever had. However, no complaints.
I was expecting it to be ok but, the food was excellent. Great ambiance and service. If you're seeing a show at the Segerstrom Hall, it couldn't be more convenient. It is literally steps away.
Our waiter George is fabulous
The menu was the same as it was the last time we were there
Pre theatre dining. First time dining there. Food was really nice ...wine and food good value.
Service by Jessica was super, food was great, and always a treat.
Always excellent service. George and Carlos are cheerful and professional waiters. The manager is very welcoming. The ambiance is sophisticated and friendly. The menu varies which is good for season ticket holders. We like arriving early to the theatre and avoiding the crowds.
We especially appreciated the server's concern about which event we were attending at the Segerstrom complex, and his attention to the time we should receive the bill.
The food was delicious, and plated beautifully.
A perfect dinner for us all.
The caesar's salad was unimpressive although the dressing was very good; we liked the mushroom soup and the risotto was also well liked; I found the desert a bit small. It is a very convenient place to go to before an event at the Segerstrom; although there are many restaurants nearby it would be nice to have a more moderate cafeteria style restaurant on site in addition, like the Kennedy Center has, for instance. I found it annoying that the hostess just neglected to check our name and then we received an email about a no show.
I already sent you my review. my only complaint is the bread, soggy y tasteless.
It was a lovely experience for my 40th birthday .
George, our waiter was such a gracious host. Point on in suggesting wine and food paring . Excellent service and food . Will definitely come back here again and highly recommend this place.
Pre theater dining. Always pleasant with excellent food and drink. Servers top notch
The cassoulet was a complete disappointment. It looked and tasted like someone had plopped a few slices of duck over some canned beans. That's all that there was to the cassoulet - canned beans (possibly?) and duck slices. The server continued to tell us that the wine would be superb in about an hour or so, but the wine was never decanted. By the time it would have been perfect to drink, we had to leave to go to the symphony. A completely disappointing and expensive meal for what we were served.
Food and service excellent. We will be back next month!
Wonderful evening with great food. Ideally we would have allocated a little more time for our meal before our performance at the Symphony started but Leatherby's Care Rouge is a popular place! It was great to be in a restaurant and not have to shout!
Had not been to Leatherbys in two years so this was a leap of faith for our party of eight!
Pleasant servers, nice table. Wine ordered. Salads ordered.
Entrees ordered... the wait was 30 minutes for entrees!!
We all said the food was tasty, but not hot ! We ordered scallops, halibut, filet & salmon, for all 8 of us. Good food but slow service.
We will return with a smaller group.
It’s a nice place to dine before the theatre!
Excellent food & service. Staff very sensitive to time limitations & easily had us out in time to enjoy the performance we had tickets for.
Great food and excellence service!
We are season ticket holders at Segerstrom and have been coming to this restaurant for years. We've seen the ups and the downs. Luckily, Leatherby's is on an upward track. In fact, we are happy to say that we had an outstanding meal there on Friday night. Service has always been first class. The ambiance feels like a New York restaurant. We had filet mignon and it was juicy and tender. The Caesar salad was delicious. The apple tart was fantastic. The location is wonderful since it's right next to the theatre. We already have reservations for our next event!
Strongly recommended before visiting Segerstrom Concert Hall. Food was fantastic !
price is too high for the quality of the food. Not a very creative menu. It is a convenient location if you are
going to a performance there.
Filet was undercooked... sent back, returned steak was tough and had gristle, taste like reheated meat. Other party’s lamb was cold and unappetizing. Accompaniments were also unappetizing on both meals. Waiter took our plates away without asking why our plates were still half full .
Our server Jessica was great, the food and drinks met our expectations, and we enjoyed ourselves. We are looking forward to coming back soon.
A great place to dine pre and post theatre! Service is excellent ! Limited menu depending on what event is on but still a great place to enjoy a great night !
This Patina restaurant used to serve great bread, but to my regret the bread offered is very hard and no taste at all. Wish they will return serving the original bread.
I thought the portions for the Endive salad were very small for $16. The squash and orange soup was very good but very small. My friend had the duck and really liked it.
We will come back again when we attend plays at the Center.
I love eating at Leatherby's before a show, but was disappointed by the Miss Saigon menu, the duck, and a couple of the appetizers----next time I will stick to my favorites-short ribs and fish.
Great restaurant to enjoy a delicious meal and drinks, especially convenient location if you are attending a performance at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts or South Coast Repertory. The waiter was attentive, friendly and helpful. The ambiance with the from the glass walls and view of the plaza to the lighting and noise level was very nice. Food and service were superb!
Beautiful meal pre-performance. They watch your timing for you so you can relax. Everything was delicious. Chicken liver mousse & butternut squash soup especially. This will be a new tradition for us.
