I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The service was amazing and the food is just divine. This culinary adventure through the cuisine of pan-sub-Saharan Africa is worth it. Not only is the food delectable, the drinks are bursts of flavour that pair really well with the dishes.

C'était ma première expérience de cuisine africaine. Ce n'est pas traditionnel, c'est plutôt mis au goût du jour, nous a-t-on expliqué. J'ai découvert la viande de chèvre, qui est délicate et vraiment très bonne. Le service était très bon, sauf que la serveuse s'est montrée réticente à baisser le volume de la musique qui était envahissant. Il n'y avait qu'un seul autre couple qui terminait son repas. On l'a quand même baissé légèrement. Le décore est agréable et soigné. Bref, dans l'ensemble une heureuse expérience qui sort de l'ordinaire.

I don’t usually write reviews, but this place was a truly great find. Local ingredients, deep flavors, creative and authentic use of flavor ranges you can’t often get in North America from the wide flavor opportunities of sub-Saharan Africa. Refined, but also alive in flavor. And well presented and a sweet space and staff. Came back again with more people before I left Montreal and we all loved it.

Came to this restaurant while in Montreal, wasn't sure what to expect, but this restaurant blew my boyfriend and I away. Food was AMAZING, very reasonably priced. Everything was so good, we couldnt decide what we liked best. Highly highly reccommend
This is hands down my favorite restaurant in Montreal. I go to Montreal at least 4x a year and I go to Le Virunga at least 3 of those times. If you’re looking for some good comfort with elegant plating, decor and ambiance Virunga is your place.
