Le Taj Ratings and Reviews
I went there with my girlfriend on Valentine's day. They imposed us an valentine's day menu (which was not indicated on their website nor on the phone when I confirmed my reservation). It was expansive and the food seemed like industrial food (shrimps not so fresh, a lot of fried things, etc.). For the service, they forgot to serve us our starters. After a while we had to ask for our food... This restaurant wants to show the public a nice image of a luxurious restaurant, but it still has to improve its food and its service before.
Nice atmosphere with decour from the Expo 67 on the walls. A buffet at lunch, this restaurant turns into a place for fine dining Indian cuisine. The lamb and lentils was very good. We went for a New Year's Eve special menu, which was very good and an enjoyable evening. One of the nicest places for Indian food in Montreal.
We thought that the food was very good. The service was also excellent. They sat us down as soon as we arrived. The restaurant was packed...not an empty table. Everything moved along at a great pace...no slowness even though the restuarant was busy. All in, a great experience.
We very much enjoyed our visit to Le Taj this past Saturday evening - - our third visit. Everything was very good, with one exception. It was rather frustrating that our first two choices for wine were out-of-stock, and that we were only told that after ordering and waiting for both. This was a very minor inconvenience only, and our third choice was quite good. We definitely will visit Le Taj again when in Montreal.
I used to go to this restaurant it was really good before
Dont know what happened i even asked if they change the cook
Went a week ago and i found really not good food
I was thinking maby a bad day it happens
Then i took another reservation i m really disappointed
Food really not good even the naan is differente
I will never ever go again i cam eat the same food on any restaurant
For 10 box
I really dont recommand this restaurant
From the beautiful ambience, to the impeccable service, to the food, to the wine list, this has to be one of the finest restaurants in town. The decor is enchanting - from the pendant lights that reflect in the windows and give an optical illusion that they are hanging from the trees to the well-appointed white table cloths to the tin embellished menus - this place is tops! Now the service couldn't be better. We ordered a meal that they affectionately call "The Feast". And that is what it is! We highly recommend it. And take home what is left over for the next night's meal. The management and servers are quite gracious. New York Indian restaurants need to come here to take a lesson in what an Indian restaurant should really be offering!
I can see how some people would find it slightly expensive, and if you do, I suggest you go here for a special occasion. It is absolutely worth it. For those who just want some great Indian food for no particular reason, come here! Naan bread was delicious as was everything else. Service was wonderful as well.
We came here for the first time last year to celebrate our engagement and had a wonderful experience. We were eager to come back again during our visit to Montreal this year. Unfortunately, the service was very poor and the restaurant was uncomfortably hot. The waiter took 15 minutes to greet us and take our order for a bottle of wine. 10 minutes later, he was back and tried to give us the wrong bottle of wine.
The food was as delicious as we remembered, but we will hesitate to visit a third time after this last experience.
We visit Montreal on a regular basis ( we live in NYC). La Taj is a must on our list of things to do. I've brought my extended family there this time, and everybody had a great time. I love the way the space looks after a renovation, the staff is very pleasant, and attentive without being overwhelming, and the food is so so good. Thanks La Taj for making our dinners so special!
I dine at Le Taj every time I am in Montreal. I have eaten Indian food in many places, but Le Taj is in a class of its own. The food is almost always superb; four stars this trip because of the onion pakora - mushy and flavorless - must have had a trainee making them. The soup, bread, and lamb saag were excellent. The chicken korma was a religious experience.
Go! Eat! You will love it!
This is a great Indian restaurant for many reasons. The food is excellent. We have taken many friends here who say they do not like Indian food but are surprised how much they enjoy it. The food is quite tasty and spices it according to your wishes. Very good service and friendly atmosphere. They renovated it a few years ago and it is a nice restaurant. If you are open to Indian food you will be happy.
Went there on a Tuesday night. The pace was packed, which made it overcrowded and noisy. The food was bland, not at all the rich blend of spices that Indian food usually is. The Mango Lassie is good though. Regarding service, the waiters are attentive but there were were simply not enough waiters for the amount of people in the restaurant.
Overall I feel that I payed way too much for this dinner and that I could have gone to a cheap place and have the same dining experience.
