Always excellent food, always charming surroundings and service.
A neighborhood favorite for good, delicious French and French-inspired food. Always exceeds expectations.
The decor is classic French bistro and the food is an authentic match. If you're in the mood for French bistro cuisine, give yourself a treat and try this restaurant.
a visit to the old neighborhood included dinner at Le Singe -- it was exactly as remembered: a genuine French brasserie experience (if you know what that is and enjoy it, this is a winner) -- the only indiosyncrasy: real Parisians flock en masse to dinner at 8:30 -- but Americans apparently go at 6:30 -- plan accordingly...
I was introduced to this restaurant about two years ago and have been suggesting it every since for lunch get-togethers with friends. The ambiance is lovely; it has the feel of a French bistro. It's comfortable and cozy, the service is excellent, the menu is varied and well priced. Hamburgers are made with grass fed beef, which is a plus for me- and others, I suspect. The friends I have dined with have also put Le Singe Vert on their list of restaurants to return to. A winner!
The music was deafeningly loud. We could not stay.
Classic French bistro; have the steak frites or moules mariniere or steak tartare (y ou get the idea)
Love this spot. Food is high quality and tasty, service is always wonderful!!n’
If you love a quaint, neighborhood bistro, then Le Singe Vert should be on your radar. The food is classic French but far from fussy. Its cozy atmosphere and attentive staff create the perfect environment for brunch with friends or a romantic dinner date.
Le Singe Vert is a Chelsea favorite for locals but no matter where you're from, they'll make you feel right at home. Reservations for brunch and weekends recommended.
This restaurant used to be great. I don't know what changed but the food was poorly cooked and tasteless. It's off my list and I recommend you go elsewhere.
I am always such a fan of this restaurant but saw that it had a B rating last time I was there and that was dissapointing.
What a chelsea gem! When you just want a no-nonsense meal of real food, good French food, go no further.
Always consistently delicious. Great ambiance and friendly staff.
Excellent French restaurant experience. Not cheap. But Prix fixe lunch is GREAT deal.
Excellent French bistro with excellent food and excellent service. Location ideal for Chelsea activities.
Lovely neighborhood place with great service and excellent value.
Le Singe has specialized in authentic French bistro cuisine for many years. I was pleased to find the food and service is better than ever. Steak and escargot were delicious. Staff was attentive and generous, providing free desert for my birthday guest.
Brunch was delicious, especially eggs florentine, the béarnaise sauce has a hint of rosemary which tastes wonderful under the eggs and spinach. We had a "special " dessert of crepes suzette which was the perfect ending to brunch. Great spot for dinner also.
Always good food and people here.
The “got” in Escargot means you got to order this. The best ever.
Waiters need to be more attentive as we waited for our glass of wine and it arrived halfway through dinner.
The exception here, not the rule.
Wonderful French bistro that sd Be experiences. Our waiter was exceptionally friendly and helpful.
A dear friend and I get together when we can and this is our second visit. We love it and it's also a favorite with another dear friend - so it's a wonderful go to place with lovely food and a great vibe
Awesome food great wine selection host and managers were so friendly and down to earth and really cared about everyone guest. Can’t go wrong here.
This is our go-to place in the neighborhood for a hearty meal. We often have the mussels and almost always try the fish special and are never disappointed. It s a great place to bring a date or gather a small grooup of friends.
I have been going to this restaurant for years and have, in the past, liked it very much. This time, the onion soup gratinée was burned on top, the rest of my food was generally mediocre, my scotch and water arrived without water, and the service overall was slow and disorganized. I do not plan to return to this restaurant.
Onion soup tasteless, otherwise food was good.
Thank goodness there are still a few places like Le Singe Vert left in NYC. The crowd all seems to have been coming back for years. While hardly a 4 star experience, its good enough for a tuesday night dinner with your friends or spouse.
Le Singe Vert is always a good choice, whether you're meeting friends or just need a hearty bowl of French onion soup. It never disappoints.
We always go to Le Singe Vert for their outstanding escargots, and enjoy their French onion soup and salads as well. We go early because of the noise level, and also enjoy the ambiance, which is very European.
A lovely neighborhood spot.
The service is very good, the food is basic good and it is an attractive, cozy spot.
Service and atmosphere is very warm ! Good food also.
Excellent food and service. Just as good as it gets!!!!,
Good food but expensive for items. Wines too expensive per bottle. Should have $40 bottles
Although it was very busy the night we were there, we never felt rushed. The wait staff was exceptional: friendly and thorough.
The food did not disappoint. Soups,
Salads, and main dishes were tasty and nicely presented. The atmosphere is lively and what you would expect a bistro to be.
It was a perfect intimate birthday celebration.
Le Singe Vert always delivers
Good attentive service
Nice quiet brunch spot if u arrive around noon
Scrambled eggs and bacon were very good
Green salad was just ok.
Home Fries were not good at all... everyone left them on their plate... even in other tables. It’s not so complicated to make good potatoes... would love it if u could improve that... would really add a lot.
Our favorite NYC spot that we never fail to visit when in town!
Le Singe Vert has been a regular go to for me, but each time I go it gets a little bit more disappointing. At my most recent visit, I ordered the salade nicoise. This time less salad and cold tuna...which in the past was freshly cooked. The Moroccan meat balls were good as were the escargots. In the past I would say food was very good to excellent, but not sure I will venture back in the near future.
Food was very good. We split a good hanger steak and a great fresh tuna niçoise. The desserts were very good. Crème brûle and chocolaté panaché.
We had a very good glass of speckling rose. The place is very prettty romantic atmosphere. First date. Nice conversation for hours but not a romantic connection. I would go back. It was pricey for me $110 with tip for the two of us. I think a bit of a gem.
