French Onion Soup
So happy to return to pre pandemic atmosphere with such a friendly owner. Had sweetbreads appetizer and bouillabaisse for main course. Yum. Drinks were very generous. Place was very busy this Sat night. Thank you Georges.
Beautiful restaurant with excellent food and service.
A hidden jewel!
Food and service always first class. French cooking to perfection.
The food was delicious and George was so accommodating! We can’t wait to come back to try more items on the menu.
It was the third time my wife & I have eaten at Le Sanglier. The food is wonderful and the ambiance is intimate - the way we like it.
Wonderful service. Great food. Best French Onion Soup!!!
We loved our dinners and LOVED your red shoes! Next time we’ll bring our own bottle and share it with you! We were there a couple of weeks ago with Arthur & Deb Greenberg
The food was absolutely delicious!!! The owner as well as the staff we’re very helpful and the food was also displayed beautifully!!!
We celebrated a birthday. The moment we said our name the owner asked whose birthday it was. He even sprinkled rose pedals on our table. The food was terrific and the wait staff was very helpful.
The food and service was excellent. If you want outstanding French food prepared perfectly then this is the perfect place.
Mushroom and filo dough appetizer still great as was the brie. The duck was equally good and I loved the lamb chops, three double bone from the rack and lovely sauce. Cherries jubilee for dessert wonderful as the taste tartan. waiters all so nice and the owner, George kept coming over to be sure all was ok. We'll be back
This is a lovely spot for a real French dinner. It's pricey, certainly, but not outrageously so, and the food is often fantastic. In terms of appetizers, my wife's baked Brie was outstanding, and my endive w/blue cheese salad was nearly as good. For main dishes, I had a terrific duck a l'orange that was maybe a little too sweet, but still tender and juicy. And my wife's coq au vin was very tasty, just somewhat too salty. All in all, I'd love to come back and try a few more items from the menu. Next time...
Always wonderful in every way. Best restaurant in Tarzana.
It was our first time visit, the place was cozy, loved the food .. we been to different French restaurant so far I would recommend this place.. the owner was very friendly and helpful.. the food was very authentic and served hot.. try escargot it was tender and full of flavor..
There's a great selection of food on the menu and the quality of servings is very good. Both selections we picked were delicious, not to mention the onion soup.
Always enjoyable. Great local restaurant
We celebrated a birthday. The food, service and ambiance were exceptional. Can’t wait to do it again.
A truly wonderful old school dining experience. Incredible food and service. Small dining room allows the voices of loud guests (there were a few) to carry. An annoyance but we didn't let it detract from the quality of the meal nor from the talents of the chef and the wonderful server! Having a hard time understanding how, given that the place has been there since 1970, we've missed it up until now!
Tonight was a little miss with our food, my crispy duck was a little dry and tough and my wife’s beef bourginon was way too salty.
My wife and I have traveled extensively throughout all of France, and the food is one of our delights. If one had their eyes closed before entering Le Sanglier, and then opened them when inside you would swear that you were in a French restaurant somewhere in France. The ambiance is so perfect, can hardly hear anyone so intimate conversations are easily achieved. Now the food. I am certainly not a connoisseur of French foods, but my palate cannot be deceived. We have eaten several times over 40 years and have never been disappointed regardless of what we have ordered. If you like French onion soup, then this is the best that I have had. My wife ordered the duck which was 1/2 a duck that was perfectly cooked...not overcooked, but juicy with a crisp skin. I had sweetbreads which were not on the menu, but the chef made this dish specially for me. I also had mushrooms in a pastry shell that was perfect. The bottom line is that if you love French food, in a lovely intimate room with attentive service then this restaurant is not to be overlooked. It is centrally located off of Ventura Blvd in Tarzana. Bon Appetit
The food was delicious and the owner, George, is a delight.
Le Sanglier has been our favorite Valley restaurant for years. We save this special place for special moments. It is always great and never disappoints, The bouillabaisse is the best I have ever had and struggle to choose between it and the lamb chops. Don't forget the escargot, a martini, a nice glass of wine, and finish the evening with a grand marnier or chocolate souffle - Yum!!
Love this restaurant! Friendly service in a quiet atmosphere.
Excellent food with some unique choices. Perfect for a relaxed dinner. Good choice for an impressive first date. Try the lychee martini...yum!
We went Friday night as our date night. We have made Le Sanglier our special restaurant. The food, service, the atmosphere is always great. This is such a wonderful restaurant with an excellent chef, it is a shame it was not very busy. Most all the tables are in private booths and they take all the safety precautions. If you haven't tried this restaurant you owe it to yourselves to do so. There are very few restaurants left with this much old time class. This is a dress up kind of place that makes you feel like special.
Delicious food. Better than being in Paris. Great, quiet ambience. Good cocktails. Amazing desserts. Excellent and thoughtful service.
Food is mediocre. Service pleasant
We all ordered different meals.
Still one of the best restaurants in the San Fernando Valley. So glad to see that it survived the Covid shutdown.
We had the most wonderful meal. My mom had the duck and I had the sand dabs. The food was hot and so packed with flavor. Michael and his wait staff are so wonderful and attentive. Great experience all around. Can’t wait to return.
Always a wonderful experience. Have been coming here since the 70's.
Great food and good service. Too bad it's only open 4 days a week.
We are so happy that Le Sanglier has stayed in business. The pandemic has affected so many restaurants. This is and has been a fine dining restaurant. If you are in a hurry, this is not for you. The staff, the food, the atmosphere are made for those who appreciate slowing down to enjoy both food and company. Each dish is prepared with skill from the Cordon Bleu trained chef. Booths are very private and what a pleasure to be able to hear the people in your party. This is where you bring someone you love. It is dress up night at Le Sanglier.
A great dining experience. Hard to believe an upscale French restaurant can thrive after 50 years in the same location on a quiet side street in Tarzana but they have done it.....
Tasty food. Awesome place. Will go back.
Ambiance lovely. Wine nice. Food poor quality and overpriced for the poor quality. Would not go back.
I have been dating now for about 7 months. My lady loves Le Sanglier
This is a very nice family run restaurant. We will return very soon!
Great food! Delicious and not too pricey! Small and quaint. Quiet and intimate. Great for small family dinners or dates!
The food and service was good.
The only complaint was we ordered a chocolate soufflé and got grand mariner.
Customer service was really great. Despite being seated late due to a full overbooked house, the manager gave us a free round of champagne. Food was good, and we suggest getting the mushrooms in pastry shell. The filet minion steak was not too great and was burnt on the outside (literally crisp/crunchy/tough), the pork chops as well were quite tough and dry. The dessert tart seemed not fresh and too hard. The chocolate marquise was very rich and tasty.
Overall, the price was way more than it should have been for the quality of food, the parking situation they have is ridiculous and horrible (no valet, and good luck getting any parking).
The only thing that we found great was the quiet ambiance and nice service.
Classic French food. Nice atmosphere. Great for date night.
