Anchoring the renaissance of Rockefeller Center is Le Rock, a thoughtful revamp of a historic Art Deco space from James Beard Award-winning chefs Lee Hanson and Riad Nasr. From the team behind some of Manhattan’s best restaurants (including Frenchette and Le Veau d'Or) comes an updated take on a grand brasserie in a iconic space, hailed by The New York Times in a Critic’s Pick three star review as “truly exciting”. Though focused on French cuisine, the location is iconic New York - Le Rock is located on 50th St between Fifth and Sixth Avenues adjacent to the Theater District, as well as MoMA and Radio City Music Hall. Open six days a week (closed Sunday), weekdays with continuous service from lunch until 9 pm.

Freezing cold. Service indifferent. Ran out of vow au vin. Never brought coffee. Food ok but expensive. Wine expensive and so-so. Very disappointing.

Food was good though they ran out of the day’s special which we wanted to order. Noise level took away from the dining experience. We could not have a conversation across the table because of the noise level. We were really looking forward to dining at Le Rock and came away disappointed.

Probably no fault of the restaurant, but there was an extremely loud obnoxious table. The management might have considered asking them to chill out

Service was very good, but don’t know what it would be like at the peak of business (we were dining early prior to a show). Food was well prepared and delicious. Noise level can be quite high at the peak of business. On the whole, definitely recommend.

This was my third time dining at Le Rock since December and it was my new favorite restaurant when visiting NYC. Dining on the patio on a spring evening can overcome most shortcomings, but after the previous great dinners I have enjoyed here-the bison on the winter menu comes to mind- I was disappointed in both the escargot (bland) and steak tartare (way too tangy) that, as classics, any French-inspired restaurant should be able to do well. The wine list was interesting, with small-production houses that we appreciated learning about from staff. We ordered a bottle of champagne to accompany the oysters (delicious) and pate (pretty good), and were shocked to have it poured into what looked like a water glass. (All of our wines were served in the same type of wide-mouthed glass.) My dinner companion worked for many years at a sparkling wine house in Napa. As she told the server, flutes are not just about style, but about maintaining the effervescence of the wine. If a restaurant asks $600 for their top champagne, respect the integrity of the wine and serve it in the proper glass. If this had been my first visit, there wouldn't have been a second, but I know what this place can do so I will give it another try.

Food was great and service outstanding. My only complaint is that the restaurant was freezing. We moved tables in order to get away from vent but it was so uncomfortable that I couldn't enjoy my meal. Waitress said there was nothing they could do.
