Quiet respite on Restaurant Row near theaters. French-speaking staff. Authentic and delicious French cuisine and wine.

Don’t go during Wednesday matinee. It’s very busy and my group of five was seated at a very small table. But we waited until the matinee crowd cleared out and the hostess kindly seated us at a more comfortable table.

I enjoyed the food. The waitress suggested that the burger was something special and it was. Excellent dish. A friend had the salmon which was a bit dried out. But overall a very pleasant experience.

I've dined at Le Rivage many times and have never been disappointed. Although delicious, my chicken cordon bleu was a little difficult to cut this time, and I've noticed the pieces are being pounded to be a bit thinner. Nevertheless, it was still very tasty. Overall, I feel Le Rivage a great place to dine if you enjoy good food and great service.

We have been to this restaurant numerous times. Their prix fix pre-theatre menu is priced right, the food is excellent, and the service is excellent as well. It's a great place if you want to have a conversation; the noise level is just right -- not too quiet, but not so noisy that you can't hear yourself think.

LeRivage has been a mainstay of Restaurant Row as long as I've been going there. And it's actually gotten better! This is good, basic, solid French food in a nice well-run restaurant.

Great for a pre theater pris fixe. Atmosphere was quiet, lovely, not too stuffy. Dinner was quick but not rushed, staff was extremely nice. The food was very good for the value. Limited wine list especially by the glass, but again it was good for a pre theater dinner.

Deja vu ! Felt as though we entered a time warp back to an era when we had many happy meals in the 46th Street French restaurants. The quiet ambience, with music by French singers, the colorful decor and paintings, and most of all, the delicious classic dishes. ...... mussels, beef Bourguinon, salmon, creme caramel. And all this at a reasonable lunch prix fixe $29.

Another relaxing and enjoyable meal at Le Rivage. Love the beet salad and rice pudding with caramel sauce. The salmon was delicious (three of us ordered it); and the seafood crepe was equally very good. And, as usual, the wine was excellent. Once again I must say, Le Rivage is truly a neighborhood gem.

Rivage is decorated like a NY interpretation of a French bistro and like many of the smaller NYC restaurants the tables a very, Very close together. This does give you a clear view of what some of the dishes look like if the neighboring tables have ordered before you, but pray that you’re not seated next to a loud party or an arguing couple. The wine list is short and the menu has mostly typical French items. The escargot were far too salty, while the other dishes were as expected but nothing special. Wait staff were busy and no one stopped to check on us after we were served. I had to flag someone down to get silverware.

I made the reservation for 4 people - they added one no problem. The prix fixe was outstanding and very good value. Two people were off to the theatre. The waiter was responsive about that. I had a great time. The food was served at the right time. A good time was had by all

Le Rivage is the perfect place for a pre or post theater dinner. Food is reliably good and the place is charming. The prixfixe menu is a great bargain. Service can be a bit hectic and hit or miss, but you’ll certainly get to your theater on time!

The place was packed with pre-theater diners. The tables for two along the wall are very close together-a money machine for the principals! We felt rushed. Our fish arrived under-cooked and luke warm. Very disappointed. Our prior experiences were much better than this one. Perhaps it was just an off night? Management tried to make accommodations with complimentary after dinner drinks. It was a nice gesture, but it’s very tough to overcome an unsatisfactory main course.

This restaurant is consistently excellent. The three course lunch specials are a superb value.
Its location on Restaurant Row (46th St) makes it a wonderful choice for pre/post Broadway show meals. I highly recommend it.

I have visited thousands of restaurants in NYC throughout my life and I have to say that Le Rivage was among the worst meals I have ever had in the city. The pate tasted like Spam. The French onion soup was good but it lacked the quality gruyere that defines the appetizer. I was disappointed at my burger which according to their advertised sign outside won some kind of burger award. No way I have had better ones at franchise restaurants. My daughter's duck was dry and tasteless and my wife signature Shrimp dish "Gambas le Rivage" was horrible. I was kind of glad they didn't have the advertised frog legs. Probably because they all hopped away after seeing what the chef was going to do with them. Save yourself the couple of hundred dollars they charged and find a better meal at any fast food restaurant. Too bad it was my daughter's birthday and we had the only bad experience of an otherwise wonderful day. I do however have to say the service was courteous and kind. Gentlemen your good skill of hospitality are being wasted at this restaurant which such bad food. I would definitely remove the sign outside the says "French Cuisine" There is absolutely nothing French or Cuisine about Le Rivage.

This is classic French food at its finest. The seafood crepes and beef bourguignon were amazing. Flavorful and delicious, prepared perfectly. A wide selections of traditional appetizers (we recommend the escargots and bisque) and desserts (the peach melba and black cherry sundae are perfect endings to the meal). The portions were good sized and left you satisfied (although the taste was so good, you did want more). The pre-theatre three course prix fixe menu is a terrific deal. We will make certain to include Le Rivage in our dinner plans on our next visit to NYC.

Delicious pre-theater dinner reminded me that Le Rivage, for its efficient but unrushed service, friendliness and great French comfort food is an unbeatable choice for theater district dining -- even if you're not going to the theater! Great value.

Love going here! Our server was very attentive and upon sitting, asked if we were going to a show. He then made sure that everything was nicely paced for us to take our time while also making our show in time. My husband and I have never had a bad meal here. This time I had the beet salad and my husband had the onion soup as an appetizer. We both had the duck for our main. And I had the blueberries and cream for dessert, while he had the mousse. All was delicious! I had wanted the strawberries and cream for my dessert, but he informed me immediately that they didn't have strawberries and had replaced them with blueberries and asked if that would be acceptable. They were the best blueberries I've ever eaten!

I can't count how many times I have returned to Le Rivage but that draw should bear witness to how much I love it. From the moment you step down into this little French gem on Restaurant Row, you will be met with warmth and professionalism. Either the maitre d' or Gigi will greet you and welcome you, escorting you to your table and, from then on, you might as well be sitting in Paris. The price fixed menu is generous and varied although I have long ago settled in on the lobster bisque and salmon in mustard sauce. Both arrive piping hot and always considerate of your timing for the evening. The entire staff is attentive without being fawning. The tables are close and, if you are fortunate, you may even strike up a brief conversation, discovering that you are not the only returning loyal guest. Desserts are attractive and delicious. I hope Le Rivage never closes. It is be an irreplaceable oasis in the City.
