Le Rivage Ratings and Reviews
I could not ask for more. From the door to the entire time, the waitress was so nice, attentive. They take their times to speak with you. The place is really good, feels like you are in Paris , decors and those arts are really amazing. The food were well served, delicious.
Will Go back again soon.
We have had dinner and or lunch everyday for almost 2 weeks. My husband and I think this is one of the best restaurants in NYC and for us personally, the best NYC has to offer. We will truly miss Le Rivage when we go home. Some of our favorites are the frog legs, shrimp dish, leek potato soup, French onion soup, and Coq au Vin. We have enjoyed every dish we have tried and the staff are wonderful!
Our first time having dinner at Le Rivage and we were very pleasantly surprised. The $39 pre fix theater menu was extensive and everything we had was wonderful. Started with the baked mussels (similar to clams casino but with mussels), trout almondine...excellent and well done. Fresh strawberries and apple tart for desert were also great. Greeting by the French manager and found that most of the servers were French but spoke excellent English. Having just come back from France for a vacation, it felt like we were back there again. Would definetely go back. Perfect for pre-theater dinner. A bit noisy but everyone seemed to be having a great time including the servers. Just added to the fun atmosphere.
Our food was excellent. Service was prompt, but servers would ask a question and then walk away before the question was answered. It felt like they knew what they were supposed to say but didn't really care. As a result we had to ask several times for the same thing. Even that was ok, but we were really unhappy about being asked to give up our table before we were able to finish our coffee and dessert.
This was an ezcellent buy for the price. We got some fabulous french onion soup and my escargots were great.. (we paid extra for those add ons) and my duck a l 'orange was fabulous (also an add on charge). My husband said his veal with bacon was the best he's had in years. The dessert was the only disappointment; my bread pudding was like a slice of bread with creme anglaise over it.. no taste whatsoever.
Great location for a Broadway show. The only option was the $39.00 pre-fixe ($29.00 for lunch) which consists of an appetizer, main and dessert. Each course was very good and the portion sizes were larger than expected. Nothing fancy, just very good French Bistro fare. The food comes out fast but no course arrived before the last had been finished and cleared. Service was very attentive. They are moving a lot of people through to get them to the shows on time but they know what they are doing. We never felt rushed. You can get in and out and in hour if you want to. I would strongly suggest making a reservation. I would go again and recommend.
My mother and I went for bite to eat before a show and were pleasantly surprised by every part of our dinner. The service as friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was cozy and happy and the food was OUTSTANDING. Plus the theater pre-fixe theater menu was fantastic at $39 per person. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
My friend and I always go to this restaurant not because of the value but because of the wonderful food and great wait staff. Since this is a hot spot for pre-theater people, the best time for a relaxing dinner is after 8:00 p.m. Even though we made reservations for 7:30 p.m., it was hard to get our table until 7:45 p.m. when the theater people vacated the restaurant. From now on, we will simply make our reservations for 8:00 p.m. to assure our favorite table in the back.
Le Rivage was excellent as always! The pre-theatre dinner is fantastic. My friend and I had the pate and filet mignon. We then enjoyed a peach tart for desert-all for the fixed price of $39. Service is excellent. Wine list was excellent. This is always my first choice when I am going to dinner before the theatre.
Picked this restaurant for preshow dinner based on ratings and website photographs of the interior. The salad was drowning in dressing, the mussels overcooked and tough, and the duck swimming is sweet syrupy sauce. The place looks worn. The waiter kept complimenting the food. When I said to him the mussels were tough and chewy, his response was "very good".
In the past several months, I have eaten here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. Both meals were pre-theater and spot-on.
Open Table, when I went to reserve this time, there was a choice of Standard or Bar. This was the first time I had been faced with this choice. Standard was (Not Available). I reserved Bar with thoughts of revision, and left it to fate.
Fate smiled on us. I quickly received a phone call from the wonderful Gigi (Gabrielle) inquiring if we would like a table. My thanks to Gigi!
I went to Le Rivage with a friend before the theatre. I have eaten there before and the food has always been delicious. This was my friend's first visit to Le Rivage. We did not leave a drop of food on our plates. The meal was delicious and the service friendly. A wonderful experience, I would highly recommend this restaurant.
