Le Rivage Ratings and Reviews
We arrived early for our Saturday lunch reservation and were seated promptly. All of the staff was friendly from the hostess and waitress to the kitchen staff running out our food. Everything was wonderful. We would definitely recommend and would gladly return. We were very pleased with the entire experience.
This was a delightful French bistro near the Broadway shows. The pre-fix menu offers plenty of options and we actually had tons of time before our show. We enjoyed everything from the escargot to the filet mignon. Not a fan of the cold bread pudding but most everything else ordered was good and the value was nice.
We were looking for a convenient (Rodgers Theater) but "special" place as we were celebrating my fiancé's birthday. Le Rivage was absolutely perfect! It is cozy and quaint, imbued with the feeling of a "small French bistro." It was tough deciding among the many French Appetizers, Entrees and Desserts, all in play with the reasonable $39 Prix Fixe menu. My fiancé had the Calves Liver entrée and Beet Salad Appetizer and I had the Pork Chop entrée and Pate Appetizer. The food was authentic and extremely satisfying. She had the Flan and I had a Peach Tart for dessert. Again fantastic. In all, a perfect preamble for a historic night that included Hamilton (one of the best show's we've ever seen). A memorable evening indeed!
I could not ask for more. From the door to the entire time, the waitress was so nice, attentive. They take their times to speak with you. The place is really good, feels like you are in Paris , decors and those arts are really amazing. The food were well served, delicious.
Will Go back again soon.
We have had dinner and or lunch everyday for almost 2 weeks. My husband and I think this is one of the best restaurants in NYC and for us personally, the best NYC has to offer. We will truly miss Le Rivage when we go home. Some of our favorites are the frog legs, shrimp dish, leek potato soup, French onion soup, and Coq au Vin. We have enjoyed every dish we have tried and the staff are wonderful!
Our first time having dinner at Le Rivage and we were very pleasantly surprised. The $39 pre fix theater menu was extensive and everything we had was wonderful. Started with the baked mussels (similar to clams casino but with mussels), trout almondine...excellent and well done. Fresh strawberries and apple tart for desert were also great. Greeting by the French manager and found that most of the servers were French but spoke excellent English. Having just come back from France for a vacation, it felt like we were back there again. Would definetely go back. Perfect for pre-theater dinner. A bit noisy but everyone seemed to be having a great time including the servers. Just added to the fun atmosphere.
Our food was excellent. Service was prompt, but servers would ask a question and then walk away before the question was answered. It felt like they knew what they were supposed to say but didn't really care. As a result we had to ask several times for the same thing. Even that was ok, but we were really unhappy about being asked to give up our table before we were able to finish our coffee and dessert.
This was an ezcellent buy for the price. We got some fabulous french onion soup and my escargots were great.. (we paid extra for those add ons) and my duck a l 'orange was fabulous (also an add on charge). My husband said his veal with bacon was the best he's had in years. The dessert was the only disappointment; my bread pudding was like a slice of bread with creme anglaise over it.. no taste whatsoever.
Great location for a Broadway show. The only option was the $39.00 pre-fixe ($29.00 for lunch) which consists of an appetizer, main and dessert. Each course was very good and the portion sizes were larger than expected. Nothing fancy, just very good French Bistro fare. The food comes out fast but no course arrived before the last had been finished and cleared. Service was very attentive. They are moving a lot of people through to get them to the shows on time but they know what they are doing. We never felt rushed. You can get in and out and in hour if you want to. I would strongly suggest making a reservation. I would go again and recommend.
