We made a reservation and all went flawlessly with our arrival and we were seated promptly. From beginning to end, the experience was top notch. We even had a little mishap with an extremely hot plate ( my husband didn't hear the warning) and our waiter promptly brought ice and ointment. This is the second experience we've had with a wonderful dinner close by to the theater district. Food preparation, service, and value can not be surpassed. Definitely a gem! Looking forward to our next trip.
My daughter, granddaughter and I enjoyed the price fixe meals at Le Rivage very much. There were quite a few selections and we had trouble deciding between appetizer and entree choices. The desserts were very good, but perhaps the weakest part of the meal. All in all, we felt like it was a very good value. Best of all, we were served promptly and were able to get to our Broadway show in plenty of time.
This restaurant was outstanding. The service and the food were both excellent! My boyfriend and I have a recent interest in French cuisine and wanted to find the perfect place to experience it during our weekend trip to NYC. We went for lunch and couldn’t have been happier. Le Rivage and the staff more than exceed our expectations. We will definitely be returning when we take our yearly trip!
I have dined at Le Rivage many times when I have attended Broadway afternoon shows. I have always
enjoyed everything about this restaurant. My lunch on Sunday, 11/10/19, was a disappointment. It began
okay with warm, tasty bread and butter. Next came La Bisque, a seafood and lobster appetizer. The consistency was thin, that of a broth, not a bisque. I requested parmesan cheese to add flavor and thicken it. Next came the salmon entree with grilled broccolini and fingerling potato, unattractively presented. A garnish would have helped. I requested the salmon be cooked very well. Instead it was served medium rare and was returned for another salmon cooked to order. The chocolate mousse dessert was delicious. Service was superior. The manager apologized and allowed me to order a complimentary beverage. The rustic French ambience is appealing as is the $35.00 Prix Fixe lunch. I do hope that the owner/chef pays closer attention to the food coming out of his kitchen and what each diner requests for future patrons.
First time, repeat for sure.
Food was very good, price fix menu, very busy before theater, done on time for easy walk the show.
Great food and great service Very accommodating
Convenient location to theatre on "Restaurant Row." We ordered the Prix fixe dinner with three courses. Food was just ok, but I sent back my dessert -- soggy creme brûlée that had been prepared for awhile -- and replaced it with an ordinary chocolate mousse. For the price, one would expect better.
Ambiance and service good. Disappointed in entree beef dish that was somewhat dried. Dessert was very good.
Aside from the tiny table that we were seated at, it was a delightful experience. The maitre d' apologized profusely about that and promised a better table next time.
Grreat pre-theatre dinner - especially for Moulin Rouge around the corner!
Le Rivage is a gem in the theatre district. I was looking for an authentic French restaurant and found it. My husband and son and I each had the $35 prix fixe lunch and we were all happy with our choices of coq au vin and salmon as entrees and mussels and escargot for appetizers. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. Will definitely return and recommend to friends.
A most enjoyable evening, all around - excellent service and food.
We will definitely be back when we return to NYC!
We celebrated my son’s birthday
We are regulars since the food the ambiance and staff are very friendly especially Tibaud
I would highly recommend this restaurant
I’ve gone to Le Rivage for years and this is the first time I’ve been disappointed. The waiter was very inattentive on Wednesday night and the night was saved by the young waitress who had served us on Tuesday night coming to our rescue and getting our desserts and coffee. The desserts were excellent, the main course was good but the soups ...squash and onion — were watery. The noise level is always high but the location —particularly if you’re going to shows — is excellent.
Nice menu, excellent for theatre crowd, super “aim to please” staff, charming ambiance and reasonably priced. A go-to place for >$100 pp. love ya!
Restuarant Row standby that always gets you to the theater curtain on time. Good food at a reasonable price. Cant beat it if you are seeing a show.
We have recommended Le Rivage to many friends over the years. My husband and I always enjoy our experience here. The food is consistently good, service is friendly and not rushed. We find the ambience delightful. The addition of Jazz on Monday and Thursday nights is an added plus and we try to go often.
My husband feels the frogs legs are the best!!
We like this restaurant because it is quiet, but on this Sunday evening, they removed chairs from a number of tables, carrying them out the front while we were dining. A waiter began to vacuum while we ate (7:15 reservation). This was not the quiet restaurant that we had experienced in the past. New potatoes were undercooked. So sad that it disappointed for the first time on our last night in the city!
Lovely value for prefix
Everything was excellent!!! Food, service, ambiance.
The price fixed menu was awesome, great choices!!
Reasonably priced delicious Prix fixe dinner with a wide selection of options. Great for pre-theater dinner. It is easier to make a reservation via OpenTable then by phone.
We have been going to this restaurant for dinner before the theater for 10 years. Never been disappointed. Food is very good and they do adjust the plates at your request.
Nice ambience and delicious French standards!
Friendly and accommodating staff.
Great French menu and specials
Good French food, excellent service, very accommodating. Nice location.
Convenient before a show. Food was okay. No wow factor here. Basic old school French. Not upscale. They prefer you have the prefix dinner and we're reluctant to give us the ala carte menu. Mind you this was a Thursday night and Halloween and not busy at all. I had short ribs and my girlfriend had trout. Both just okay. I also judge the restaurant immediately by the bread They serve, which was not so yummy. Anyhow I guess they feel that they can do the minimum and get away with it since there are so many tourists. No need for concern about repeat Customers. I'm a New Yorker and I wouldn't bother going back based on this dinner. Positives- It's convenient t to theatre
Went for pre-matinee performance and while this was an unusual Thursday matinee (Moulin Rouge), they had their price fixed menu which was great. We both had salads, the fabulous burger and delicious chocolate mousse, adding only a glass each of very good Cabernet at a reasonable price. The service and ambiance of this cozy restaurant were very enjoyable and we surely would both recommend to friends and return ourselves.
Had a delicious dinner and a very nice experience. Would definetely revisit.
We went there pre-theater. It was crowded and noisy. The food was great as was the service. If you are going pre-theater, you will need a reservation.
Well oiled machine providing nice duning experience and food for the pre-theatre crowd. Highly densely populated restaurant with accompanyed noise level. Nicw, tssty menu for the price
Highly recommend this restaurant for a Pre- theatre meal. I would recommend at least 2.5 hrs because they get super busy and food takes awhile to come out. Service and quality is top notch here. Excellent value for $45 pre-fixe meal. I highly recommend the escargot and the french onion burger. cooked to perfection and fries just the way i like it. Also recommend the Cast Iron Pan Seared Calf Liver and if your willing to add $10, get the Filet Mignon. I will def go back.
Excellent food and service, and I hope to return the next time we are in NYC. I highly recommend Le Rivage to friends,
My wife chose the Boeuf Bourguignon it was anything but, it had pasta in it which is not French, and is in fact a cheap filler for the bowl, Below are the ingredients of Boeuf Bourguignon I noted the one missing from theses which was bacon or lardons We have both eaten Boeuf Bourguignon in France this was not Boeuf Bourguignon
I had the rack of lamb which was dry judging by the temperature of the plate it had been left in a hot oven waiting on my wife's meal to be ready
I would not recommend Le Ravage as a good French restaurant,
ON the positive the Jazz was good and
6 oz (180g) bacon , chopped NONE
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 lb (1.4kg) stewing beef , cut into 2-inch cubes
1 carrot , sliced
1 onion , chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons flour
3 cups red wine
2-3 cups beef stock
1 tablespoon tomato paste
2 cloves garlic , mashed
1/2 teaspoon fresh thyme
Le Rivage was steps away from our hotel. What a great meal in beautiful surroundings and live music. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience!
Shared our mother's 77th Birthday with Le Rivage. The experience was amazing! The theater menu was full of choices to deliver. The service was impeccable and catered to our every need. Every bite was delicious and the little unexpected extras were a sheer delight! ❤ the aperitif & the jazz trio. A must experience!
Perfect place for a French dinner in couple. Service is excellent and the food incredible. We’ll come back for sure.
Good food and an enjoyable experience
We were celebrating out Daughter and son-in law’s 20th anniversary.
Anniversary weekend kick off dinner. The French onion soup burger is a must try for anyone visiting!
As always, the food and service were outstanding. My daughter and I had the pate, escargot, cordon bleu and beef bourguignon. All were exceptional.
