Classic French Cuisine - one of my favorites. Convenient to the theater district.
Very accomodating after matinee or pre theater dinner -- prix fixe meal -- the french onion soup is delicious . The service was the best part of the experience.
Exactly what I expect from a classic French bistro. I came with 2 other friends for NYC Restaurant Week. But little did we know that their regular Sunday brunch menu would have so many other options and still for an affordable price. 3 courses for $35 each. For myself, I had the french onion soup and the pate de campagne, both classics as appetizers. For my main course, I ordered the calf liver. I wanted to order something that I knew I'd never be able to cook myself, and this certainly fit that criteria. Overall, a great time. Servers checked on us a few times, consistently filled our water, and answered any questions we had about the menu. I would definitely come back.
The value of the pre fixe was wonderful, the server was friendly and informative and the food was outstanding. I have celiac disease ad they were accommodating and informative. Charming and romantic spot with soft, sweet french music. Can't wait to go back!
Great pre theatre prix fixe menu with plenty of options from which to choose. I have a gluten allergy and our waitress was excellent about helping me to make the right choices. The food was fantastic! Nice Hells Kitchen location.
Great price performer in a super convenient location. Authentic French cuisine. Dishes our group were all quite good and pricing was pretty reasonable for mid-town NYC. One very significant note! We requested as quiet a table as possible since we were dining with old friends we hadn't seen in about a year and wanted to catch up. The maitre'd found us the best, quietest table in the place, for which we are most appreciative! That kind of service earns repeat business and glowing kudus.
It was a nice restaurant however food was bland felt like nice homemade meal.
Perfect for pre-show or anytime. All the wait staff were best ever and sang for my mother’s birthday. Couldn’t have been better. Merci!!!
Out of all the restaurants to choose from in New York, this wouldn't be at the top of my list again. It's a cute place, but the Prix Fixe menu doesn't have remarkable offerings.
Our first visit...food and service were dynamite!
Wonderful experience and the waiter was amazing as well as the food.
We have been to this charming French restaurant a few times. It is always a pleasure. The food is so delicious and the atmosphere is very relaxing. The price fixed menu is beyond a bargain. Already looking
forward to our next visit!
When French cuisine comes to mind, this IS the place to go in the Theatre District. Their pre=performance three course dinner is simply VERY impressive. Choices for all seasoned palates. Service very proferssional, thank you Ellen, wish we could have said good night, well paced and proper portions to thoroughly enjoy each course. Shall we go back...absolutely YES. Even with ALL the choices in NYC, this was an experience to remember...and repeat. Thank you team Le Rivage. Bravo et merci beaucoup.
I would not make a reservation with open table for this restaurant. Apparently they did not know about our reservation through open table even though we had a confirmation and showed it. The hostess looked at me like I had two heads they finally did seat us as though doing us a favor. However that put a little damper on things. But the food and service was very good. Just suggest you call for a reservation instead of the convenience of open table.
We had a wonderful meal and time at Le Rivage. There was one error with our order (an over cooked filet mignon), but our waiter spotted the issue immediately and addressed it with great attention. This wonderful service was further highlighted by the fact that the filet was for a 12-year old. The host also came over to ensure all was good and spoke directly with our daughter to ensure she was satisfied with the newly delivered filet. They also then treated us to additional desserts as a kind gesture. Wonderful service and attention to their patrons. Will definitely go back.
Went to Play
Classic french bistro, great lunch pre fixe
This is a customer friendly, lovely French restaurant that has excellent service, an attentive staff and serves nicely prepared meals. The three of us all ordered different entrees and all three were delicious. The wine list is excellent and cocktails were nicely done.
The location is perfect for anyone looking for pre theater or post theater dining.
We really enjoyed our dinner here and will be back.
Very mediocre food though the onion burger was very good
It was my birthday & the service & food was delicious !
It's a fine restaurant in a pinch, but you're in NYC with so many other options.
Authentic even though mass produced.
Overall the food exceeded my expectations. I wouldn’t generally expect the food to be outstanding in Times Square. For the area, the price is also reasonable. Both my husband’s steak and my salmon were well prepared and cooked. The options were very good for a prix fix as well. That being said, the decor is very tired, verging on dingy and my dinner came with a short dark hair on the plate. They replaced the food onto a clean plate but it was clearly still the same food....
Very crowded Saturday at 5pm. Table was VERY close to neighbor (4 top split in two). Should be a table for 4 only.
We love this place. The food is so good. Our waiter was ok but didn’t seem to really understand French food. We’ll always go back
The the servers were friendly and attended to our needs. The food was flavorful beautifully presented and enjoyable. The environment of the restaurant was warm cozy and appealing.
Lovely staff! Great food! So cosy!
My wife’s Xmas present.. and our final night out in nyc together before our first child is born.
A quaint French restaurant on restaurant row NYC. I'm not a French food expert but my sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals. They have a live jazz band on Mondays & Thursdays evenings, I think they start at 7:30. It's a prefixe menu, 3 courses $45 with a few additional items for a $10 surcharge. I even tried escargot for the 1st time and it was delicious. If you want to end your meal with a truly old world French flair order an absinthe.
We felt so welcomed and valued. The food and wine were excellent and priced reasonably. We’d definitely go back whenever we’re in town.
Fabulous Food and Great Service! I highly recommend this place to my family and friends! The waiters/waitresses are warm and friendly. I love the Maitre D. You are greeted with a warm smile. Being hearing impaired I am given a table where I can hear other people at my table.
Great lunch at bar, best French onion soup burger in city
This pretty French restaurant is a theater district gem. The pre fix menu is reasonably priced and the food is delicious. The wait staff is friendly, and accommodating. We will definitely go back.
Definitely a pre-theater place. They get you in and out on time. We didn't feel rushed. But place is very busy and small so wait staff is running around and you feel them whizzing to & fro.
Delicious food, wonderful service, great before a show.
Beautiful setting, wonderful service, fantastic food. We were a little worried about being under-dressed, as we were just in NYC for the weekend and running from place to place without time to change. But we found ourselves between people in jeans and people in glittery evening clothes, and we were dressed inbetween. The server was patient with our college-aged daughters asking questions about the menu, as they had never tried many of the items listed. They had escargots for the first time and definitely want to return. Everything we had was delicious, not to big portion sizes that meant we could have multiple courses. The creme brulee [pardon my lack of accents] was the best I've ever tasted.
The service was excellent and very attentive. However the food was just so-so. I found the baked mussels to be chewy and lacking in flavor, and the duck a l'orange was dry. The potato leek soup was OK. We did enjoy the beef bourguignon and the desserts. Not planning to return.
Pre-theatre lunch. Best quiche I ever had!
Excellent on every level! Service food and ambiance
