Food and service was great. A very enjoyable dining experience. I wish I could have had multiple delicious sounding item on the menu.
We had a wonderful dinner. The food, the service and the ambiance met all of our expectations.
My wife and I went to NY for an overnight visit and a play. Le Rivage was so good that after the first night we decided to eat there the second night. I love good food and especially French food. I had the muscles and bisque appetizers, the duck and the beef bourgonione, with the napoleon and bread pudding for desert. My wife had the muscles both evenings, the salmon, then the trout, the chocolate mousse and the apple tart. All were excellent, the Mussels and duck were the best I have ever eaten. The Prixe Fixe menu is a great bargain, and I will be back. Service was great and personable, atmosphere very romantic. A close to perfect experience. Thank you Le Rivage!
We came during French Restaurant week and found your restaurant through that venue. However, when we arrived on 7.14, the waiter did not honor the $38 price nor did he give our one glass of wine free (which was on the website along with entrees, etc.). Other than that, the food was excellent.
Their burger is wonderful. It looks like a hole in the wall from the outside, but it's a deep hole. It's actually a pretty big restaurant inside.
Absolutely wonderful. I've never had quiche so good -- fluffy as a cloud. And the lobster bisque was heavenly. Will definitely return.
Great authentic French restaurant
Price fix good value
Amazing food , great service
Wonderful Service and Food for Birthday Celebration. Pre Theater Price-Fix great deal for 39.99. Sea food crepe and strip steak outstanding. Good variety of choices.
We went there for French restaurant week. The good was delicious and the service was outstanding.
Our server was terrific. We let her know we had a 7 PM curtain and she made sure the food - all 3 courses of the pre fixe dinners for 6 of us - came in time. She was very pleasant without being fawning. The food was good and plentiful.
This is my second time at this restaurant and
It was excellent. The service was top notch and the food...wonderful. We never felt rushed. Everyone should give it a try.
The food was great. Did the Restaurant week lunch menu. It’s intimate for a date and not too loud. I would come here again.
La Rivage never disappoints!!
The pre-fixe dinner is authentic and the staff are so friendly and attentive. A favorite on restaurant row almost everytime I visit NYC!
Very good traditional French fare. Exceptional value in the $39 price fix pre theatre menu. I would recommend !
Because of plan changes, I had to change the reservation time. There was no problem. Arrived 15 minutes early and were seated immediately. The food was very good. Had their onion soup burger.
My only complaint is that there was supposed to be a special menu for “French Restaurant Week”. That was never offered.
Date Night with my favorite person in the world my CUZ was absolutely amazing! Our waiter was so pleasant and gave great advice about the menu and drinks! Definitely will visit again. We were very impressed and our faith in French cuisine was resorted!
the shortribs was slightly overcooked but otherwise everything else was delish
The Duck was Dry . The Beouf Bourguignon was ok ( some dry overcooked chunks of lean meat )
Overall expensive for the quality of the food we got .
Service was ok ; unfriendly waiter
This is our favorite restaurant I the city. The food is amazing!!!! Staff is perfect. Every time we got to a Broadway show, we have dinner here first. Cozy with great ambience. It feels like you are in Bilbao Bagins house in the shire. Highly recommend!!
We booked Le Rivage for dining between 2 plays. The fixed price menu worked out ideally as we were able to order down to the dessert in advance. As a result we were able to enjoy each segment of our meal without concerns about the time. My friend had a beet appetizer, which was very good. However, my seafood bisque was short on seafood and the traditional flavor. We both had the salmon fro our entree and it was prepared very well with an appropriate amount of fingerling potatoes and broccoli. The chocolate mousse and peach melba were very good. Service was appropriately attentive.
Our family had an excellent dining experience at La Rivage. We were greeted warmly at the door and we found the staff very attentive despite the fact the restaurant was busy. We would highly recommend the French Onion Burger and the Coq Au Vin.
We went here after theatre. Food is traditional French Bistro; very good, and excellent value. Lovely atmosphere, great service. Excellent for pre- and post-theatre.
The prix fixe menu has a lot of options. We enjoyed the trout almandine and beef bourguignon. The soup was very good, but the salad was disappointing. Both desserts, the apple tart and cherry sundae were very good. Service was good, even though it was very busy with pre-theater diners.
This was our 2nd visit to Le Rivage. Food was excellent. the offering on the Prix-Fixe were not limited to just a small menu, as with most places. one of the better restaurants on restaurant roe.
I've dined at Le Rivage at least 10 times in the last four years. I've enjoyed each occasion. I've brought friends here for their birthdays. It is a lovely get away from the noise of the theater district. Can't wait to go again.
We were not theater people and it was very packed when we first arrived around 7pm. We waited for a larger table and they were very accommodating. Food was very very good. My waiter even sang for my birthday. My only issue was waiting for the check.
This is definitely a tourist restaurant. Meals are rushed and staff wearing stereotypical outfits. It reminds me of the French restaurant at Disney Epcot vs a serious NYC restaurant.
Great service with the pre-theater prix fixe. Also, they did a great job with our son who has a nut allergy.
This was the best meal we've had in the theater district. Our reservation was July 4th at 5:45 PM, so it was quiet. Very pleasant atmosphere-our server, Sarah, went above & beyond to make sure we were happy. My husband and I each had their signature burger - It was super scrumptious. We gave it a 4/4 napkin(s) rating (literally and figuratively) !
Went for girls night, ended up staying for 4 hours. The best dirty martinis in the city!!!
Service was slower than normal this time but food was outstanding as always!!!!
Was amazing !!!! They had live music and the ambiance was wonderful . Great food too !!! And it was nice to be able to dress nice casual and pay a moderate price for fine food and experience .
We were part of the theater crowd so the place was jumping. Apart from the initial ordering to get drinks which was slow, everything thereafter was seamless.
The courses were excellent in terms of quantity and quality. The veal liver just melted in the mouth.
We live in FL and visit NY multiple times a year. Over several years we and our friends ( its never the same ones) have dined here without once being disappointed.
I was nervous about trying this place but was SO pleasantly surprised. Perfect location near theatre, diverse price fixed menu. Cozy atmosphere yet not crowded. Excellent attentive staff, flavorful meal, lovely ambiance. Chocolate mousse was divine. We will be back!
Having lived in France for many years, we've come to know and appeciate the quality of food, service and ambiance that defines French haute cuisine. Le Rivage is loyal to the owner's French heritage but for me it was a little too Americanized that one would not normally see in French cuisine (i.e. an Onion Soup Hamburger or a pork chop).
We went for a Saturday pre-concert dinner and luckily we had reservations. Despite that, it took nearly 15 min for our server to take our order and all 3 courses of their prix fixe meal had to be ordered then.
The menu has a good selection and my wife had the seafood crepe and I ordered boeuf bourgignon. Normally boeuf bourgignon is so tender the meat doesn't need a knife. Not the case here.
My wife's seafood crepe was done well but she felt that some of the seafood was overcooked.
As to the ambiance, it was a pre-show crowd so quite noisy. However no one asked how our meal was and I had to ask 2x for water.
Admittedly the restaurant was packed and a number of diners were adamant about having their meals served quickly which put pressure on the kitchen staff.
We may very well come back on a quieter night since I'm sure the restaurant can be an excellent dining choice for fine dining.
Great before theater meal.
I can confirm that Le Rivage is an excellent pre- theatre dining experience!
A fine place to dine with an intimate atmosphere, great service and fantastic food. Try the Roast Long Island Duckling.
LaRivage has an excellent menu, service is excellent and a fine wine list.
The seating, food and service were excellent, as always, thanks to Gigi and Thibauld!
