Le Rivage never fails to disappoint. Whenever I am in New York, this is my go-to place. I have had brunch, lunch and dinner there and never leave without rave reviews.
I love the fixed price meals because the portions are so generous, and I leave full every single time. The varied selection offers something for everyone and the quality of the food is spectacular.
The people who work at Le Rivage all seem to love being there. Although it is a very busy place, I always feel special while dining there. Never rushed.
Good pre fixe. Many choices including specials.
Loved the restaurant food and service! Trout was fabulous As were the mussels. Price fix was good and service perfect to get us out for our show. Apple tart was excellent but wish it was heated.
Our party was seated quickly, we enjoyed ever. Food served promptly, hot and with a great dollar value.
Great food, great value and a hidden gem on 46th street. Weather before the theater, a date, special occasion or just in the mood for some great French food I always have fun here great food for a great price.
Went with Francophile friend. They loved it too!
Excellent service, delicious food, romantic atmosphere
Le Rivage is truly a gem on Restaurant Row! If you're looking for a "French" experience -- you'll find it here. You're greeted warmly, seated comfortably in a charming setting, and fed the most delicious menu of French specialties. A perfect spot for a pre-matinee lunch or dinner before or after the theatre.
Food is great! Cream brûlée is the best ! In every restaurant it’s my favorite desert! This one is above my expectations!Great!
Always consistent. Great service. Old school with very good food, quickly prepared, producing an outstanding product. Added comfort level...the owners are always there greeting and overseeing. Prix fixe very affordable. Adequate wine list. Worth the try if you are in the theater district near restaurant row. Classic ambiance.
solid fare with reasonable prices, a bit noisy, but wait staff moves things along to ensure everyone is out in time for theater
we were pretheater, service was delightfully efficient, the dishes were uniformly delicious and well presented. We had a venison dish, veal liver and fillet steak excellently prepared.
We were old fans of Cafe du Soire on 86th street which we understood had taken over the space, the quality has not diminished, although the prices have increased.
Dining at Le Rivage was a wonderful experience. The food, service, ambiance couldn’t have been better and since we were there at a quiet time of day, it was very easy for my friend and I to chat. This one of the best bargains in New York City!
Host, hostess and service staff were all pleasant and professional. Nice cozy restaurant with good food. Everyone at my table liked what they ordered and we all ordered something different. I would go back.
Food was rather bland.
We love love love Le Rivage! I've been many times and it never disappoints. The food and staff are amazing!
Had the fixed price for lunch which was delicious and very reasonable. Food was perfectly prepared and service was very good. The vegetable quiche was excellent and would definitely go back. Tables are close but despite the sizable number of diners pre-matinee, conversation at normal levels was easy.
The food was delicious and plentiful. We had a very friendly and expeditious server, Sergey. He was nice and efficient. This is great place to grab a pre-show dinner.
We enjoyed the cozy atmosphere, attentive service & delicious menu items. It was a wonderful prelude to a great night of theater.
I have been here many times and Le Rivage is always fantastic! The service is great! The ambiance is great! The food is great! I just love this place and it is always my favorite pre-theatre spot!
A "restaurant row" eatery which usually means tons of tourists heading to shows. We booked at 7:30 so all of that was gone already. A great restaurant. The duck is truly amazing and the mussels are superb. We went on a Thursday evening which meant a jazz trio playing, so if you don't want to listen to that (it tends to be a bit loud in such a small place) pick another night to go. They are famous for the "onion soup burger" which I did not have but my companion did and said it was amazing. My only real complaint is the service... terrible! I had to ask several times to get a waiter. (it wasn't that busy so no excuse). If I have to chase a waiter down to get my cocktail, down goes the experience. When the waitress arrived at the table she asked if we were ready to order dinner. Um, no how about a drink first. She didn't like that response (sorry I don't care, I'm the guest here) and gave us attitude (with some of what she considers humor thrown in). We also had to chase down a waiter for things like water refills and desserts etc. Maybe they are used to bad service because of the tourists, but c'mon. Tourists or local, everyone should get good service and if you don't want to put up with that kind of clientele then get a job elsewhere. Again, great food, lovely "New York" brick wall atmosphere but they need better service.
Lovely meal great
The service and food are excellent, but expensive.
We had a wonderful experience at Le Rivage. Everything about our dinner was great and we very much enjoyed the service of and conversation with our server, Hernandez. We look forward to our next visit to NYC and having dinner at Le Rivage.
Tables too close together,
I will say that we ( 4 of us) arrived half hour late. Maitre D was annoyed that we came late to reservation and said he had just cancelled it. Train was delayed in tunnel and he made an arrogant remar "yes, I hear about trains being delayed" We did not realize how late we were and apologized. They had available tables so it was not a problem. If I were not with others I would have turned and left. However, despite him, I am glad I stayed. The waiter made up for his displeasure.
Pre Theater price fixe was wonderful. Plenty of choices. The French onion soup could have benefitted from some more onions but overall not bad. Salmon cooked to perfection. Others in group had the chicken cordon blue and the onion soup burger. All raved about their food. Desserts are delicious. The chocolate mousse is a must . Also the peach melba. Overall solid experience and would return.
Great pre theatre menu at a great price. So close to the theatre district. And the staff was very curious
We arrived just as the matinee lunch crowd was pouring out, and so had the restaurant to ourselves. So it was perfect and the food is divine. I would have preferred an ala carte menu instead of the prix fixe since neither of us ate much. Service was a tad slow but attentive and solicitous when they got around to us.
Essen, Service sehr gut, die Bestuhlung ist aber sehr eng, also kaum Platz auf und um den Tisch.
Food and service very good. Seated quickly even though early fo reservation. Wait staff very polite and efficient.
Crowded but friendly with good food, excellent service.
We were visiting for theatre and dining. This was our best, and by far not the most expensive, dinner.
Nice French restaurant with very good quality food in the Theater district. Excellent service but not rushed-they just know that everyone is heading out to a show. Delicious seafood crepe and beef bourguignon, and desserts. Good value for $45 for 3 courses. Will go there again.
Excellent meal! Great service. A great place to meetup with close friends
Meet up with auld friends. Perfect finish to a New York night.
The food, always, was very good. The potato leek soup and the duck are two of my favorite dishes anywhere. The ambiance has suffered a bit. The restaurant used to be more quaint and French in atmosphere and service- now unfortunately it has become more generic in tone. We hadn’t been to Le Rivage in a couple of years, after having dined there dozens of times over the years. It wasn’t quite the same. A pity. It used to be a favorite spot.
We had a delicious pre play prefix dinner . It was quite a diverse menu! The food was good and the service outstanding
Birthday celebration. The fixe price menu selection is one of the best I have ever seen. Some of the best wines are available. A truly enjoyable dining experience. We will definitely return.
Food was very mediocre . Not enough spices, bland. Bisque was watery and not tasty whatsoever. Beef rib with noodles in watery sauce and absolutely no salt. Charge for still water$7.50, just unbelievable. Nobody said that water is not free. Can’t complain about service. Staff is friendly and very attentive.
