Le Provencal Ratings and Reviews
As always the food was exquisite! The staff was totally attentive to our every need without being intrusive. Our favorite French restaurant in South Florida! I had the roast duck and it was divinely delicious. My wife enjoyed the salmon from the three-course menu along with onion soup and a pear tartine. We will keep coming back time and time again.
This has been a steady favorite for many years in Coral Gables. Check the current construction on Miracle Mile. Fortunately this restaurant has a rear entrance and a parking garage easily accessible. We had a delicious dinner. Frog legs, moules, scallops and salmon. Service was perfect as we had to make a concert !
The seared Foix Gras was a perfect way to start the dinner. We had the filet with green peppercorn sauce and the veal chop in truffle sauce. Both were incredible. The veal chop cooked medium with the truffle slivers was absolutely incredible. We chose some of the more expensive items on the menu but we were not let down. We will definitely go again, and will not hesitate to order the same.
My meal at Le Provencal was great. Nothing in particular stands out as being outrageously bad or over the top incredible. Service was very friendly and considerate, food was tasty, and there were only a couple other tables in use, most likely due to all the construction along the street. If I didn't have hundreds of other restaurants to explore in the Gables, I would certainly come back.
Le Provençal is a wonderful French restaurant with a charming ambiance, friendly, competent service, and delicious, reliable standards.
We started with French Onion Soup and Chicken Liver Mousse. The soup was done right and very tasty. The mousse was a very good slice, light spreading and delicate, served with traditional cornichons and piccolines.
For main courses, both of us had Kidneys with Mustard Sauce. Delicious! The side accompaniments are worth noting, the French fries, celeriac purée and broiled tomato with a dab of pesto. There are Frogs Legs on the menu that I'll be ordering on our next visit. Other favorites that are difficult to find are also on the menu. I wish they served sweetbreads and calves liver with sauteed shallots; both favorite classics of mine.
It's good to know that there's an entrance to the restaurant from the back muse right adjacent to the covered parking garage. Enter the parking garage on Andalusia and you're there. There really isn't a reason to valet or circle for street parking on Miracle Mile. Plus the restaurant validates parking for the garage.
With a pleasant, lively atmosphere, charming, efficient staff, and reliable, well prepared and presented food selection, Le Provençal gets a two thumbs up from us.
MIAMI'S BEST FRENCH RESTAURANT
No one could possibly go wrong eating here. Madame, I send kudos to you for your sensational cuisine that never fails to be the best. Your $39 all inclusive dinner is a the best. The A la carte menu is filled with French home cooking as well as owner and chef inspired hard to find menu items. The soupe de poisson is my favorite and exactly like eating in the Province. Don't miss the steak au proive!
The place was empty on a Thursday night. I was like a ghost town, with two other tables there when had our reservation for 8:45. We chose to split the Coral Gables Restaurant Week Special which consisted of an appetizer, entree, and dessert. The soup was just okay. The braised leg of lamb was quite tasty to be honest, and the dessert, although I enjoyed it, my companion did not.
This was our 3rd visit to Le Provencal and it has become our go to place when we yearn for more refined French offerings than we find in our home base of Key Largo. The service has been terrific at lunch and dinner and the food always excellent. We love the classic French offerings executed flawlessly. Their version of vichyssoise is a favorite as well as a light as air ile flottante. The lamb shanks were sublime. The veal kidneys, while very good, were a little heavy. Le Provencal is the next best thing to dining in Paris. We will be back!
Le Provencal has been a gem of Coral Gables forever and quality of food never disappoints. Escargot, best in Miami with an authentic sauce just waiting for you to dip a piece of your warm freshly baked bread into. Each dish prepared with perfection; exceptional Salmon and Beef Medallions. Bottles of wine, overpriced however they do offer bottles of their house wine; Pierre Henri for a reasonable $29 each. This is authentic French cuisine and staff and if you have ever traveled France, then you know what to expect; service which may seem slow is really just "laid back" with no finesse or charm. Allow the food to speak for itself and it is really, really good, enjoy!
Had a wonderful, quick lunch there - very delicious. Then went for dinner on Mother's Day, and had the opposite experience. Took over 2 hours to get our food - a simple order. Very, very, very slow. Staff apologized, but seemed hard to explain how it could have taken so long. They did give us the table we asked for in our reservation, and the food was good - when it finally arrived, but no real excuse for that slow service!!! Sorry.
We took my 94 yr old mother for Mothers Day lunch. Our food was very good, especially my mothers risotto. Service was a little slow but it was a very large crowd for the holiday. My husband and I have gone there on 2 other occasions after being at the theater and the service was very good both of those times.
I was hoping for more; as this restaurant was recommended by friends whose tastes are similar. Maybe the service & food quality is different at dinner than lunch. The fixed price lunch is certainly a good price with lots of selections for the main entree. My husband liked his fish entree a lot. My chicken was overcooked; tough & dry. The dessert - pear in a pudding & chocolate sauce was really not good - you couldn't slice thru the pear with s steak knife! If the fruit isn't ripe & ready to go; don't serve it!! The rolls tasted packaged. Service was erratic; the young man who initially seated us & brought water & wine was not friendly or informative. The other young woman who collected plates & brought entrees at least smiled & was friendly. All in all, it was an okay lunch experience but certainly not French quality.
