I guess all restaurants have their good and bad days. Tonight was one of those off days for Le Provencal. Too bad it was on a night we came with friends and had recommended the restaurant so highly.
The food was good but the service was not up to the service standard we had had in the past. But we’ll give them one more try and hopefully the next time will be better.
This is a beautiful restaurant with delicious food. The service is excellent and will be going back very often.
Went with a friend to check out their Miami Spice menu. Didn't end up going with that option but I did order a Steak Au Poivre which seemed to create some confusion. They thought I ordered the Filet Mignon au Poivre which I did not. It was not offered on the menu. What came was a NY Strip, with no Au Poivre Sauce and this was not the Flat Iron steak I thought it was going to be, it came with fries, not potatoes and it was supposed to have veggies and it was brought out with a stewed tomato. I've eaten here before, and I'd go again, but I just wish I had known what the confusion was about.
We celebrated a friend on her birthday and organized a brunch for a large group (almost 20 people!) they were very accommodating, food was delicious and service was really good as well! I want to go back with my hubs on a dinner date 😊

The food was delicious, including the desserts. Thomas was helpful in making sure my order was safely gluten and dairy free. I spoke with Chef James, who is very knowledgeable about creating dishes with alternative ingredients for those with food allergies - and the restaurant General Manager has Celiac. Overall a wonderful experience for a special occasion and good for those with food concerns.
One of our favorite restaurants until its renovation. We loved the country French decor and French menu. It was warm, inviting and the food was extraordinary. I am sorry to say that it is no longer the restaurant I loved so much. If I wanted contemporary decor I would go to South Beach. Too many Spanish options on the menu. I’m Spanish, I love the food, but, I wanted all French options. Sorry.
Great restaurant & location, we have been coming here for years ( both locations) . Everyone at our table loved there lunch , eggs Benedict were Great burger was out of this world !!

Can’t believe this restaurant has managed to survive given the really bad combination of self-absorbed staff, meh food and lack of atmosphere.
This was one of the most horrific dining experiences. We showed up at 7:55 for our 8:00 pm reservation and were told our table was not ready. We were finally seated at 8:20, but then it took 15 minutes for a waitress to even come over and ask for our drink order. While placing our order, the waitress abruptly walked away (without saying anything) and then came back a few minutes later. At 9:50, we still had not been served our entrees. We asked for the status and never got a straight answer. After asking several times about our food, we finally asked for the check for our drinks. They then failed to bring our check. We handed cash to the manager on the way out.
The waitress was completely inattentive. No one ever apologized for any of the above.
On top of that, they had an accordion player. He was playing into a microphone. It was so loud you could not hear those seated with you. We asked the waitress to see if he could turn down his speaker. She told us that the manager refused our request.
We will not come back and I strongly urge you to avoid this restaurant. You’ve been warned!
I always enjoy the food at Le Provencal, but on my most recent visit, the poor service detracted from my enjoyment. In that it was Bastille Day, the restaurant was full. We chose to sit outside due to the high noise level in the dining room. From the start, the service was disappointing. We has long waits for everything- drinks, appetizers and entrees- that were beyond acceptable for a busy kitchen. There appeared to be only one server working the entire terrace area. The poached egg on my salad was cold (not standard) by the time I received it, and the pepper I requested when it was served never arrived. Our order of mussels arrived without a spoon or bowl for the shells, and our waiter never checked back on us unless we sought him out for something. For the prices charged at this restaurant, I would expect attentive service to match the caliber of establishment they are trying to portray. Disappointing because the menu is lovely, and in the past, the food has always been good.
The frois gras is out of this world and the 3 branches cocktail is incredible! French onion soup is absolutely perfect and is worth getting as an app. Love this place!
Had not eaten here since it moved from Le Jeune off of Miracle Mile. The menu has changed a bit, we were hoping to have the traditional French fare they used to have. Still, the food was very good, service was very good and the prices were reasonable. I would call this modern French. Only issue was that it was a weeknight, and toward the end of the meal the AC had been turned down or off and it was an unpleasant last 15 minutes. Really nice place, we would go there again.
I went to Le Provençal for brunch with a few girl friends and WOW, we loved EVERYTHING! We really wanted to get a full dining experience, so we ordered a few things off the menu along with some cocktails: Le Burger, Croque Monsieur, Berries Crepe, Spanish Omelet, French Toast and last but definitely not least, Tre Leches Pancakes. It's so hard to pick a favorite, but Le Burger and Tres Leches Pancakes are defintely on the top on the list! As for drinks, we had some bellinis, bloody maria's and the sparkling St. Germin spritzer - the spritzer was soooo good. Overall, we were so, so happy with our amazing service and the quality and presentation of the food. We can't wait to go back!
The food was outstanding. Service was good although a bit slow between drinks and appetizers. Overall we really enjoyed our dinner. It’s great to have a very good French restaurant in the Gables.
When we were finishing dinner tonight at La Provencal, on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables, my wife turned to me and said, “I could come here every night.” That’s the way I feel too. Toby had risotto for her main dish. She has ordered it in restaurants in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Paris, and Miami. But tonight was the best she’s ever tasted, she said. I always like to sample that dish, even though I never order it for dinner and I can understand her reaction. The cheese, the mushrooms, the pine nuts, and the grain combined to make a heavenly taste so delicious I may finally order it for my main dish. But there are so many dishes like that on their menu. Fish, fowl, meat, perfectly cooked with accompanying vegetables beautifully, and appetizingly, presented. In an ambience so pleasant you want to linger over every bite; with service that is gracious, professional, caring, attentive, and very personable. And tonight we ordered a Margaux from a wine list that will impress any wine lover. I love eating there. And if you only knew what a critical, impossible to please person I am you’d understand how rare it is for me to praise any restaurant as I do this one.
Truly great service received from multiple workers aside from the very attentive waitress. Refreshingly, my group was not anywhere hurried to leave upon completion of our meal and drinks.
Puzzling though was how the maitre 'D schmoozed with a guest couple with which he had acquaintance but neglected to chat with any other diners. I'm not saying I cared but it didn't make for good PR and certainly not enough to ruin a near perfect dining experience.
Not the same as before
We were a little disappointed because the Restaurant did not offer regular lunch menu, only Brunch. The food used to be more french than it is now and that was another disappointment.
The food was very good and the service was attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and eat there again.
Eating at Le Provencal is always pleasant. The service is great and the ambiance wonderful. The kitchen though is jus a little off. Notwithstanding a very nice and comfortable spot for dinner with friends.
This was our first visit, and we look forward to coming back. The food and service was reminiscent of some wonderful restaurant experiences in southern France. Very friendly and attentive service, excellent wine selections, and superbly prepared food. Our choices included the cheese platter as starter, and prawns and the halibut special as entrées. All were delicious. We also welcomed the more subdued atmosphere, in contrast to some of the more “high energy“ restaurants in the Gables. Highly recommend!
I have known this restaurant for 30 years and it is not the same. Might it be new owners? Food was ok but the service was very slow. 3 tables were put together and they were at different levels. The Chairs were low. The expresso coffee was so little that I measured it to be 1 1/2 teaspoon. I complained and the waiter brought a normal expresso. Expensive and not a good value
I hadn't been to Le Provencal since they sustained damage from Hurricane Irma. The new decor (there is a new owner) is really nice. The food is finer and the presentation much better. I like it & will be back.
The restaurant has changed ownership in the last 6 months. We did not realize this until arriving and, by chance, meeting the new owner. He seems to be trying to maintain some of the tradition of the old restaurant, but is definitely bringing a new, contemporary approach - to the décor and ambiance, the staff and service, and the food. We did experience some let down on the service, as our initial server was completing a shift from earlier in the day and so did not stay with us throughout and so we were dropped a bit in receiving direct attention. But overall the staff did provide us an adequate and not overly intrusive amount of attention. The new menu is interesting and the food we chose was delicious and shows promise for being a very good quality meal with variety and interest.
The food was terrific. The service was too slow! Arrived at 6pm and left at 9:30pm, unacceptable!
We waited over 1 hour and 15 min after we were seated and placed our order for any morsel of food to arrive! Then just one dish was bought in for my husband and rest of our party waited another 10 minutes for our dishes . BIG disappointment!! Don’t go there - what a shame !!!
The worst experience I had in many years. All the personnel looked like little kids running a restaurant!!!! The dessert was the first plate that came to the table... before the main course....it was Mother’s Day so that added to the poor experience.... my recommendation STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESTAURANT !!!!!!!

It could be an excellent place for dinner on a regular weekly basis but the service we had on May 12 left a lot to be desired. Food was very good but extremely slow out of the kitchen. Waiter was extremely apologetic, but it was out of his control.

We stopped in a few days ago for lunch and the food and service was so outstanding we decided to return for dinner with our fingers crossed. The dinner menu gave us even more wonderful choices and the service was even more attentive. I’m a very difficult and demanding person but I found everything met my (my wife tells me) very high standards for presentation, taste, and service. We are going to France next month. The chef and staff at Le Provençal has given us a very nice preview of all the delicious food we expected to eat there. We expect to return often.

Loved the food which has the classics, ie french onion soup is the best we have had in years, salads were unique and flavorful and entre’s were beautifully and tastefully done. I thought the new menu was good and most of our party of 7 enjoyed their dinners.
However, the restaurant was careless about specific food allergies and had to recook one person's dinner. In addition, they made a mistake on the bill and charged us twice for one meal. It was difficult to get butter, refill on water or special requests. The waiter was either busy or inattentive. Perhaps these are some of the kinks in new ownership or a busy Saturday night. I might give it one more try in a few months, because the food was good.
