Le Provençal Bistro
Le Provencal used to provide an excellent two course prix fixe lunch with a good choice of starters and entrees. And understandably, there was an additional supplement for more expensive entrees. However, now, the choice of starters and entrees have shrunk to two or three very indifferent dishes. Therefore, my son and I chose from the a la carte menu while my wife took the prix fixe. We were uniformly disappointed. The mesclun salad was indifferent and our entrees were not of the quality we remembered. The desserts were especially bad with the tarte tatin being a soggy mess while the lemon tarte was of the processed. supermarket frozen quality.
Similar, authentic French restaurants (Bistro Rollin, Pelham, for example) that saw quality slipping like this were soon out of business. I hope that fate does not befall Le Provencal, although it is doubtful we will eat there again.
Delicious Easter dinner. Lovely service. Relaxed but elegant ambiance. Fabulous!
Understated but outstanding food and service. Rare neighborhood French restaurant with affordable menu...and great service. The new management has supplemented the French menu with some Italian too - takes care of everyone in the group ! Must visit.
Very warm, sophisticated ambiance; great service; wonderful /reliable
French dishes; bracing drinks. One of our very favorites.
Excellent welcome, great food... a great way to end the working day! Excellent mushroom soup, lobster salad, tart tatin even better than in Mont St Michel in France!
New Owners have preserved the ambiance and the food quality, we had a very good meal there.
Celebrating anniversary. Restaurant was very nice gave us a free dessert with candle.
Very friendly people and excellent food!
Wéll go back!
Continues to be fairly consistent with a few hiccups - less than appealing presentation, lumpy polenta (rather than creamy), etc. They greet and seat well and seem to break down on service when they are 75% full and so they miss out on low-hanging fruit like another round of drinks. Looking forward to going back for a round of mussels in-season.
the whole experience was wonderful until the food arrived ( it was luke warm, I guess the
help did not pick it up in a timely fashion ) it did taste wonderful though, everyone was
pleasant enough even though it was pretty loud when the restaurant filled up.
Restaurant week and this bistro is a winner. Been around for ages and now under new ownership. Still same chef who does wonders. One of the few restaurants where tables are far enough apart so diners can hear one another. Excellent cuisine.
The new owners are warm and welcoming hosts and excellent chefs!
We had a wonderful evening at Le Provencal Bistro. Our dinner was prepared perfectly and served professionally. The restaurant is comfortable and attractive. The extensive menu options gave the four of us to satisfy our dining needs. We would definitely return to Le Provencal Bistro.
I love coming here- I bought 5 friends who had never been to the restaurant and they all loved it- we came for restaurant week and you offer so many choices and that is rare during restaurant week! Can’t wait to come again!
