Wonderful dinner at Le Prive - such authentic French cooking. My salad, branzino and potato puree were all delicious, as were the beignets I had for dessert. The service was outstanding and the prices most reasonable. An amazing dining option in West Hell's Kitchen.
Had a lovely dinner. For a moment we thought we were in Paris!!
Le Prive is always a memorable dining event. The service, especially Omar is Perfect,
the food consistantly very good. The attention to details is second to none. Le Prive is a local Gem. Whenever you in the theather district or the midtown west area on 10th area Le Prive should be your first choice when dining out.
The hostess treat us very bad, but after that the service was fine, the food was veeeery good though!
Very good food and experience. Will definitely come back.
Everyone at the table was extremely happy with the food. If you like duck, I highly recommend it. The service was great!!
Went here for Christmas Eve looking for a nice duck dinner, and for the pre-fixe price it far exceeded expectations. Tender Escargot, an excellent duck over parsnip dish, and beignets for dessert...and free bottle of wine all for $65!
To top it off, they have nice heated outdoor seating, and everyone on staff from the hostess to waiter to servers are top notch, polite, and attentive, and fun to chat with even while working on Chrismas Eve. Wide usually a bit picky, but even she can't recommend enough if you're looking for a pleasant French experience for something a notch above a normal "brasserie" that doesn't break the bank.
The salmon and chicken are both delicious as is the chocolate mousse.
This was our first experience at Le Privé and we’ll definitely return on our next trip! The atmosphere was quiet, the food was excellent- the escargot rivaled that of any I’d had in St-Germain-des-Prés. Our mussels and bouillabaisse were light and aromatic, but the highlight of the night was the poussin - an elegant take on comfort food, but not heavy like it’s southern counterpart. I suggest going early to avoid a crowd and to walk the city after.
Food was so good.
will be back
Our second night dining at La Privé in NYC Hell’s Kitchen- outstanding again. We both had the endive salad and Cornish game hen. Delicious and a great wine recommendation (French red blend) that was perfect with the entree.
Can’t say enough about the warm and professional service all around.
Good and service were amazing. We didn’t feel rushed at all but still felt taken care of. Would visit again
So glad we tried LePrive. Service, food and ambiance were all wonderful. Fabulous food including salads, classic Bistro dishes including duck breast, steak frites and salmon with lentils. Cocktails and wine selections also outstanding as is friendly and professional service.
Awesome dinner. Chad was outstanding! Please dine here!
Next best thing to being in Paris!
Great place that feels French in every possible way.
Birthday brunch. My friend was bummed that her crepes were hard and tough to even cut or chew, and my salad was okay, but the seared tuna was over cooked. It was fine, but wouldn’t go back.
Solid neighborhood spot.
Chad behind the bar is great.
Thanksgiving prix fixe dinner included a bottle of wine.
Red wine -excellent
Escargot appetizer - delicious
Turkey was from a turkey roll not a whole roasted turkey
Gravy was thin consistency & mild flavor
Brussels sprouts with bacon were severely overcooked
No cranberry sauce
No pie for dessert
Dessert were so-so.
The chicken and duck liver is really good .
Good food and service. Beautiful garden for warm weather. Pretty inside.
Probably the worst (non-welcome) ever from the female host. We were rained on really hard around 2PM this afternoon and she literally didn't say anything when I was saying, we have a reservation under Joanne. Sorry we were rained on etc and I literally needed to fix my hair in the ladies room. She just ignored everything. Lacks compassion. The worst host ever. Service was made up for by Chad and the other bartender. Also she didn't look up our reservation so no special occasion table as well. Considering I've bookmarked this in like forever, I was really turned off.
First off the table we were seated as was so dark you couldn't see the menu w/o your flashlight. It wasn't just us, the party of 3 next to us who were 25 years younger easy made the exact same comment upon being seated. Absurd to not be able to see it was so ark. Waiter was rude from the start...no name introduction just what can I get you. We had to ask for specials & there wasn't one. The appetizer we ordered (mussels which was actually an entrée offering) were cold. They came in a tureen which should have been covered IMO but to no avail so they were cold. But please note our entree's arrived at the same time as the appetizer. The server who brought everything was like well I didn't take your order.
Our server then showed up & asked me "what do you want me to do"? Really....you need to ask what the hell needs to be done? Of course he was none too happy & it was evident but at that point I was none too happy with his attitude & screw up he didn't take responsibility for.
I sent them back (I had the duck breast & my wife had the mac n cheese) & asked they not be held under the heat lamp but remade. His reply was we don't have heat lamps here which I know is a bunch of BS since I've personally worked in many professional kitchens. I would say everyone of them has had heat lamps up on the expediting line.
The duck was not cooked to my asking. I specifically said "no pink" medium & he suggested I not do that but I said listen I don't want pink. Too bad, I got pink so clearly that was ignored. They took it back to heat it how I don't know but the parsnip puree was lukewarm & the duck was still mildly warm for $32.00!
The mac n' cheese was okay nothing outstanding as we were told it would be but at least it was hot. The bread on the table was really small slices from a really small baguette as one can tell w/ olive oil side.
We will not be back nor should you go unless you care to be really disappointed. It was not worth the price of admission.
Visiting NYC, looking for a nice pre-theater dinner experience. Broadway Direct suggested Le Prive as a favored spot near our theater. Made a reservation on Open Table. When OT asked for confirmation, confirmed. The day before, Le Prive called to confirm reservation; I called and left a confirming message. The day of, Le Prive called again. Two hours later they cancelled the Open Table reservation. I called to confirm. 1.5 hours before arrival time, they called and asked for a credit card. When we arrived, right on time, there were NO other tables occupied - not one! SIX communications required to secure a reservation where NO other diners apparently planned to go! Too much work.
Food was OK, nothing memorable. We were rushed along, as if there were others waiting for our table (not). We were offered dessert, no menu. Ordered one mousse au chocolat to split -- its texture was solid and dense, not fluffy like mousse should be. Then they charged us $14 for it. Coffee was horrible. I left with a bad taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively.
My advice to theater-goers in the neighborhood: There are many attractive French restaurants nearby. Choose one of them.
Very nice place. Just went for a couple cups of wine and some cheese and had a wonderful time. Waiters are amazing
Very nice staff, great food. Very welcoming and helpful!
A must try!! We had an absolutely incredible experience!!
The food, service, and atmosphere was EXCELLENT. Our waiter Omar took the time to answer any questions we had, offered honest recommendations, and made us feel welcomed.
The manager, Gary, was also extremely kind. He came over and made sure we were happy with our visit. He gave us other suggestions at their sister restaurant next door, and even took the time to bring us over.
Their menu had a great selection, and every dish we ordered was delicious. We will definitely go back when we are in the city again!
Great staff and lovely food.
My husband Peter and I had the opportunity of dinning at Le Privé not long after it opened and found it wonderful. We frequented the restaurant with friends a few times when passing through NYC. Then Covid hit and we have been away nearly two years and hoped and prayed it could survive. It has! Once we were able to travel again we made at trip to East Coast from our home in Hawaii but detoured to NYC to once again dine at Le Privé. What a treat! The two of us dined on French onion soup a fish salad and the fabulous duck. The staff was as courteous as ever, overseen by Fabrice who could not have been more gracious.
The following night we invited friends to join us and each one commented on the exquisite flavor of everything. The duck again was perfect and two thought the bouillabaisse was the best they had ever had. We tried three of the deserts and the were fantastic.
I highly recommend Le Privé and the food and atmosphere are wonderful and prices reasonable
Our waiter was wonderful and very attentive. Fabrice came over and greeted us. He remembered us from previous visits!
I had the French onion soup and fish salad. Both were awesome. My husband had the duck which was excellent. Le Privé is our favorite French restaurant in NYC and we were so delighted to know that they had survived the financial crunch of Covid. We will be back on our next trip to the city!
Excellent staff, excellent service and excellent food! We were a large group and everyone was pleased! Will definitely visit again when we return to NY! Thanks for taking great care of us!
Located in Hell's Kitchen of Manhattan and prior to our matinee show, my partner and I met an old friend/ex-coworker to catch up at this French establishment. Le Privé means "the secret" in French and a classic neighborhood bistro with both indoor and outdoor dining. Reservation is recommended as it's a cozy place and easily made via Open Table. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the host Christin who was friendly and informative. Inside they have these amazing chandeliers that take you back to the time when we went to Paris. Since it was gorgeous day, we decided to sit outside and our servers were Nate and Gary. Ordering off of their brunch menu, we had Soupe à l'Oignon (Onion soup, gruyere crustade) with a side of fries, Moules Frites (Mussels, dijon mustard, chardonnay, fennel, garlic, and basil) and Le Hamburger consisting of Raclette, pickled green tomato, paprika aioli, arugula on a brioche bun. The dishes were very well prepared, tasty and the portions just right. Unfortunately we didn't have room for desserts but may look into the powdered beignets or creme brûlée next time. The staff was very cordial and the price was comparable to any bistro. So if you're in Hell's Kitchen area and want French, we can recommend this place.
wonderful friendly service, delicious food, great HK vibe
Absolutely wonderful! The food was delicious, service was perfect, and the staff were very easy. Will absolutely be back.
We have been there several times & have never had a poor experience. This time was a little disappointing in that we ordered the Pate. Immediately one guest noticed it didn’t taste right. When we brought it up to the server, he said it could’ve been the last one in a batch & did replace it however
Fantastic service once again. Le Privé is quickly becoming our friend group favorite. The staff is fun and friendly - and the food & drinks men offer something for everyone’s tastes. Thank you for a wonderful time.
It was fantastic - we sat outside but it was a lovely day. The service was sublime - thank you Fabrice and his friend! The food was fabulous.
Also great espresso!!!!
Lovely backyard that is a sanctuary in Hell’s Kitchen. Delicious food and drinks. Great service!
We love Le Prive. Excellent French food in midtown for less than $$$$ is hard to find.
The pate is fabulous and can be shared. The Salade du Jardin was filled with seasonal goodies. The Boulliabaise was fabulous. And of course we ended with beignets
The wait staff was warm, friendly, attentive , and knowledgeable--another thing you don't always find at a French restaurant.
