A traditional brasserie, Le Politique offers a menu of classic French fare, including trout amandine, escargot, steak frites, and an extensive raw bar of oysters, shrimp and lobster. An adjoining patisserie and coffee shop features a selection of house-made pastries and perfectly pulled espresso to-go.
The food at Le Politique was fantastic! I will definitely be returning. My partner and I went for our anniversary dinner and had the gnocci and filet au poivre as entrees, mousse for dessert, and the bread platter for an appetizer. My only complaint was the service from our waitress. Once we were seated, it took her probably 10 minutes to visit our table despite also serving the tables on either side of ours. She walked by at least 10 times tending to them before even greeting us. The service from everyone else (host/hostess, food runners, even another server) was stellar.
Great service, food, and ambiance, as usual. Try the crème brûlée for dessert!
Had a lovely dinner at Le Politique, and for a moment was transported to a Parisian cafe. Cocktails were on point--I had a take on a Manhattan with rye and cognac. Not too sweet or boozy. Tender and buttery escargot preceded a flavorful endive salad. I had duck l'orange cooked to a perfect medium rare. Among other dishes at the table, the gnocchis was pillow soft with a lovely crispness and packed with flavor. Finally, the dessert s were all good (we tried three!) but the bombe au chocolate with dark chocolate mousse, salted caramel, spéculoos, and crème fraîche ice cream--well, shut the door. We love our French cafe in Seattle, Le Pichet, but when in Austin, I'll return to Le Politique for a bit of the Parisian life.
Went here on a first date and it was amazing. The staff was so attentive and explained the menu very well. It was a great place to go for a night out!
The restaurant looks great inside, and we had a fantastic table. The service was comprehensive, but could have been a little bit quicker given how empty the dining room was. The food was plated beautifully, however it was not quite as hot as I would’ve liked it. The overall portion size was good, with the exception of the French fries, which, while fairly tasty, were a tad over priced. The cocktails were good and came out very quickly and our server kept a solid rotation on our waters and iced teas. I ordered a pastry for take-away which looked beautiful, and my girlfriend said it was delicious. Overall a solid spot for a quiet, upscale brunch. I would definitely return next time I’m in Austin for dinner and the raw bar.
I personally thought it was a chic restaurant to go to, it made you feel rich and somewhat fancy for the night. It’s a great place for date night. I will definitely come back— also it’s better to do a reservation that way you don’t have to wait for a table to open up :)
Food was good! The service was awful, we waited 20 minutes before our first drinks even arrived and our waitress came by very little. If they had been busy it would’ve been understandable but it was a very slow day.
Waitress was fantastic. Beautiful space. Dishes with eggs (quiche and omelet) were phenomenal.
Excellent service and the food was great.
Le Politique is a very good local restaurant for us. The cuisine is French inspired. The Trout Almondine is consistently excellent. It is my husband’s first choice. I opt for the Filet Mignon which is also very good.
The bread plate is usually 3 types of bread with fresh jam and butter.
The portions are a good size - perfect amount for dinner.
The service is friendly and efficient. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu options and helpful.
It is a open bright restaurant, comfortable and clean.
Hi, Hate to give any place a bad review but their bouillabaisse soup was truly bland and boring, the fish was overcooked. Same for the escargot, a dose of garlic but otherwise flavorless. Service was excellent. Wine was great. Chocolate desert bombe was delicious.
My partner and I celebrated our anniversary and our experience was wonderful. The service was impeccable and the food delicious. Thank you to our hostess, server and the manager for making our anniversary brunch so lovely. We look forward to dining with y’all again soon.
Wonderful service and food !
Our fav neighborhood joint!
Christmas Eve dinner was a hit! They have specials for the evening which we’re definitely a solid choice as they were amazing. I’d do it again for sure.
Great food not so good service as dishes came out at different times for different people.
This place used to be wonderful, but I just don't know what's happened. The food quality has gone way down, and since they were always spendy, regrettably I think this is no longer a favorite stand-by for us. The gougeres were big puffed balls, and an order was only 2, where you used to get a little basket of several. The gnocchi was bland and needed... help. They were out of oysters (but the shipment had gone off, so I'm totally okay with that). And the menu has changed so that many favored options are no longer available. On the plus side, the wine list remains strong, and the snails were good. It's disappointing overall, when I recall how fab this restaurant used to be.
Lunch at Le Politique with Pere Noel is going to be a new tradition for me and my daughter. The food was delicious, our servers were attentive and professional, and the restaurant was lovely. Seeing Santa and decorating a few sugar cookies was delightful. My Daughter and I will be back next December, and and my husband and I will be back much sooner than that.
The service was 5-star from the moment we entered. The waiter had great recommendations and was knowledgeable about the menu. Our food was beautifully presented and the 4 courses progressed naturally. Our glasses were always full and the wine selection is thorough yet not overwhelming. I will definitely return and recommend Le Politique to colleagues, friends, and family.
Food was excellent and the service was better. We asked to be moved as we were celebrating our anniversary and wanted a bit more personal space and they accommodated quickly. Then we received 2 complimentary flutes of champagne (which was delicious!!). Entree, bread, dessert were decadent. Highly recommend!!
Very disappointing. Food is just OK – service was negligent and will not be going back.
The seafood isn’t that great - we were a bit disappointed. Oysters were good!
We had a lovely, delicious meal with very good service
Not vegan friendly and dishes were super small and not really shareable. Nothing tasted that great - a “fall vegetables” salad was one cup of uncooked zucchini and carrots. Ambience and decor were great, food just wasn’t that exciting.
Our waiter was just okay. He wasn't attentive and didn't offer us dessert menus. The food was pretty good.
Love this place but DO NoT like the barking, snarling, fighting dogs on the patio. Can we not ban dogs like several other restaurants are doing? My dining experience is not meant to be disturbed by dogs - or owners who pick their dog up and put it IN THE Table.
Our waiter tried to make best out of the situation. Nice guy.
Beautiful ambiance and interior design, the food was delicious and the service was great~ perfect place to celebrate something!!
Date night for us!
Food isn’t as good anymore, and food took a long time.
What a lovely place! The food is excellent, our waiter was so patient and charming. I look forward to returning soon for the amazing Kouign Amman😃
This is a very good restaurant. Steak tartare was not what I expected. House wines were good. French onion soup was great. Bread great.
Do yourself a favor: get an outdoor table here on a nice night. Good veg options, surprising for a French-inspired place. Love the vibe, food, service - all of it. (Inside is nice too, I’m just a sucker for lovely outdoor spaces.)
Menu script so small I couldn't read it. The menu wasn't very exciting. Nothing really caught my eye so I ended up getting the burger. Fries were excellent. Creme brulee was lacking in texture but flavor was spot on. Wouldnt necessarily be super excited to go back there.
Went for dinner on a Saturday; full and busy, but noise level was appropriate. Not the place for a quiet conversation, but definitely fine for a fun dinner. Good menu with something for everyone, and everything we had was very good. Not fine French cuisine, but very good bistro-type food. Good wine list, with plenty of reasonable bottles, and higher end if you want to go there. Service was casual, but very good. Only parking is around the corner for $10, if that matters.
Service was polite and fast! Food was outstanding for the price and I will visit again.
Way overpriced for what you get. Food is mediocre at best. Nice ambiance and service. I love the idea of this upscale French Bistro, but it disappoints. Will not return.
Excellent all around, including the wonderful gluten free bread for the escargot!
Went on a Sunday evening and restaurant pretty empty. Service was slow and so we let them know we had a show to go around 8 pm. Escargot was okay, but could only remove 3 of the six (they didn’t charge us). Ordered the filet but apparently they sold out the night before, but we were able to have ribeye prepared with the same sauce and asparagus and it was delicious. Because entrees were slow to come out they brought us complimentary pommes frites and they were yummy.
So food great, servers pleasant but there seemed to be an issue with the kitchen and the bar service was slow but cocktails great! Not sure what’s going on because service seemed off from when I was last there in August. I’ll definitely go again because food delish and I like the employees.
