Le menu MTL à table était très décevant. Portions minuscules, pommes de terre crues, aucun accompagnement... Ce genre d'événement représente une chance de faire connaître le restaurant, mais vraiment, c'est RATÉ! Carte des cocktails extrêmement chère (15 à 20 $ pour un verre).
Delicious food in a pleasant brasserie setting.
We had great, friendly service. The recommended french onion soup was the best I have tasted- lots of cheese, great broth. The mushroom-stuffed chicken rolls were superb, accompanied by delicately seasoned vegetables. The creme brûlée was as also excellent, as was the special brownie. Portions were small and prices moderately high, but the Table d'Hote meal package was only $31 Canadian dollars. Worth a visit.
Very pricey for very ordinary fare. A filet of Mediterranean Sea Bass with an arrangement of vegetables was $42 per person. I was expecting better especially since the Brasserie Lipp chef from Zurich was the feature chef. Service and ambiance were good. I never complain when I dine with my wife at Lemeac. I would have liked to have left a more positive review but I would not be telling the truth alas.
The food was quite good, delicious desserts. The price point is slightly on the higher side for a Montreal French restaurant. The service was very slow... we waited over 30 minutes for someone to come by after dessert. In the mean time, we saw other waiters doing other tasks instead of taking care of customers. Overall, it was not worth it.
Went there for brunch, the food was good but the baked beans were way undercooked, portion sizes are big or small, no in between. The coffee was pretty bad, served from a huge percolator. To be fair the smoked salmon on toast was really good but the portion size was a bit small compared to the other plates.
Visiting Montreal with my daughter. Found this restaurant online while looking for a place to dine on our last pm in town. Lovely decor, very attentive staff, and professional in service. Varied menu. Our server (sorry I forget his name but so lovely!) helped us to select a lovely French wine. Would definitely visit again.
Our server, Frank, was a delightful young man. We dined there the evening of September 24. He truly made our dining experience very enjoyable.
We ate outside because the air conditioning was not working in the restaurant. Two downsides to sitting outside: if by the tree, lots of spider webs and the trash is too close to the restaurant, so if it's windy, it may smell. It also attracts homeless folks looking for recyclable products.
We go to Montreal once or twice a year and always try to find a good restaurant. Pois Penche was great- so worth the drive from NY State. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. We sat by the window people watching and enjoyed shared appetizers of oysters and rilletes. For my entree I had a fabulous saffron flavored seafood stew and my husband had steak tartare with shaved Parmesan and truffles. I can't say enough about the service- our waiter was fantastic. We will go back but unfortunately not until next year.
Seafood platter was good.
Service was disorganised, we were not offered any sides with our order, had to order them separately after the meal arrived.
After the first bottle of wine for the appetizer, Sommelier did not come to the table prior to main course had to chase her, had to rush order a bottle of wine.
The server proposed the fresh whole fish of the day, the 50$ fish was severely, I mean severely overcooked.
Desserts were great.
I started with an appetizer of 12 oysters of various kinds, pricey but delicious. I ordered the veal chop for my main dish; it came with fingerling potatoes and mushrooms, everything was cooked to perfection.
The restaurant offers a great selection of wine but I opted for a Bloody Caesar and water afterwards as I was going to a concert at the Bell Center.
I would recommend leaving yourself some extra time as the service is not rushed here.
Had read a lot of the reviews and the place seemed to be very good. Got an 8pm reservation for August 10th. Arrived at the restaurant and was well received and promptly seated. Things went south from there.
We ordered the Steamed Mussels and when they arrived they were at room temperature. Called the waiter over to complained and he got the manager who gave us some freshly cooked mussels that had not been sitting at the waiter pickup counter for 20 minutes.
My wife ordered the Porgy fish and the waiter returned 20 minutes later to inform us that they had sold there last one so she would need to order something else. She ordered the Duck which was hot when she got it but was very dried out and tasteless. Tasted like it was cooked hours earlier and just reheated. Didn't even bother telling the waiter as he would only occasionally drop by the table and we very getting hungry.
I ordered the Veal Chop. I was amazed that no one asked how i would like it cooked but saw that it was cooked at rare to medium rare which is the way I like it anyway. Started to cut the meat with the steak knife they provided and found it an extremely tough piece of meat. This pointed to either a very poor cut of meat or very poor quality knives. I did point out to the waiter that the tip of the knife was bent 90 degrees and that just added to the frustration of trying to cut the chop as it caught on the fork every time I tried to cut the meat. He really didn't seem to care. Amazing attitude given I paid $40 for the veal chop.
Took almost 2 hours from the time we were seated to the time we finished the main course which is unacceptable given that the restaurant was only half full and there were lots of waiters running around.
I would have though that given that the manager had gotten involved they would have tried to do something to improved the experience but they did nothing. Paying $250 for a miserable dinner experience is not something I will forget soon. Poor service all around.
Kudos to the chef as the meals were excellent! However, the service was the diametrical opposite of the cuisine. While I observed our waiter spending a great deal of time with the two tables of guests beside us, he hardly addressed us and neither did his team members. At 1915, they were already out of three items on the menu and waited to devulge that until I had already chosen one for my meal. The pillars of a great dining experience involve so much more than the cuisine. These people are in the business of providing more than just a meal, but I did not feel that way this evening. For that reason, I cannot recommend.
Overall we really enjoyed our dinner here. The food was excellent through all courses. Our first waiter was extremely attentive without being over bearing. Unfortunately, his shift ended and the second waiter was much less attentive and long gaps occurred between courses, getting the check etc. Fortunately, we were not on the clock, so it did not really matter. Anyway, very very good food.
