I eat all over the world and this is one of my favorite restaurants. The tasting menu is fool proof. The wine list is exceptional and a good value. Order the 5 course tasting and a bottle of Oregon Pinot and enjoy! A must in a city with many many great places to eat.

Had an excellent dinner (as always). Finally tried the beef cheeks and they did not disappoint. The crab appetizer was gone about 2 minutes after it arrived. Nice bottle of wine. It was a good evening. Thanks!

Always a pleasure to dine at Le Pigeon. Dinner was fantastic as expected with faves...short rib, crud and foie gras! Great to see Chef Rucker and his wonderful staff. Danny and Anne are fantastic. Thanks again for a wonderful dining experience. We look forward to our next visit.

We had the tasting menu and the first course was a cold seafood soup that was lick your bowl clean but everything after was a disappointment. The pork belly and king crab dish was tough and confusing. The third course had grit in the snails and the salmon was terrible. When my wife said their was grit in the snails we were given attitude. The fourth Course was the Pigeon and for a signature dish it did not provide much. I honestly think it is time to reinvent your restaurant as it seems like you are riding your reputation into the ground. The fifth course was dessert and was dry and messy. The wine pairing had a better story than flavor and besides the bubbly should be taken off the menu.

Overall well cooked items. The best dish from our 5 course tasting was the tuna, well balanced flavours and very appetizing. The pork ragu was tasty but heavily sauced. The two meat dishes were okay, we both found elements we disliked. We found there dishes to be overly complicated. Sometimes it worked however on many occasions it detracted from their dishes.

We tried Le Pigeon as a birthday treat for the firsr time in August and it was just that good that we had to come back again! Wonderful celebration and phenomenally impressive eats. We can't wait for the next excuse to return.

Absolutely wonderful, flavorful, beautiful food. Don't let the casual decor fool you, this is serious place, serious about the food & service. My app was sweetbreads-a gorgeous display of deep fried meat, with fruit, sauce & a stunning presentation. Both my wife & I had beef Bourguinon, super tender beef in a deep dark sauce. Yum! Dessert was creme brulee, but with a side of dried cherries & (maybe) a creme patisserie. Reservations a must & hard to get. Do it!

The assertive lack of elegance (a blatantly uncomfortable table and a din of noise that might force out hostage takers) is more than outweighed by service that is both friendly and professional and by the food, which is extraordinary. I would strongly recommend a tasting menu, since the dishes I enjoyed the most were not ones I would have ordered a la carte. Foie gras profiteroles? Who knew? May not be the perfect experience for everyone, but a foodie's delight.

My husband and I were not aware of this particular establishment. Our daughter gave us a gift card to try out the restaurant and we went for our 36th Wedding Anniversary which was a couple of weeks prior to our visit. We both enjoyed the ambience and the food. My husband, who almost never compliments food, was quite enthralled with the myriad of flavors in the dishes we had. We had a tasty duck appetizer and for the main dishes he had a beef dish and I had chicken with shrimp. We were stuffed! And felt our pallets and senses were quite satisfied with all of the lovely flavors of mint and oregano, and unexpected crunch of nuts. A delightful experience! We will recommend it to our friends!

Excellent food! Great place for a date or a special occasion. I had the wagyu brisket and my fiance had the beef cheek bourguignon, both dishes were perfectly prepared and extremely tender. The foie gras is to die for too.

Absolutely... Amazing!! I've had the privilege of eating at Le Pigeon several times now over the years and it's always an awesome experience. Mr Rucker is a creative genius who clearly doesn't run out of ideas, but rather seems to be getting better & better as each season passes, he gracefully ushers in the next with such brilliantly delicious distinctions. Bravo Sir, bravo.

Everything about the restaurant was great except the drunken loud bachelorette party I was seated next to. Wished they could've had their own separate area as it was difficult to have a conversation with my date.

We booked Le Pigeon at the recommendation of a friend. She had suggested we eat at the bar and I now see why. The communal table we were sat at was very crowded to the point where someone hade to get up to let the person next to them leave. It was rather like being on an airplane. The close proximity made conversation across the table limited because one couldn't help overhearing the person you were rubbing shoulders with. All this would have been forgiven if the service and food had been exceptional as promised. Unfortunately this wasn't the case. We ordered the braised beef cheeks and the skate. The skate, one of my favorite fish, was good but not exceptional and the beef cheeks tasted like a rather tired beef stew. The service fluctuated between friendly and dismissive. At these prices and with all the raves we were very disappointed.

This is undoubtedly my favorite restaurant in Portland. Initially, I expected it to be much like Petit Trois in LA, but after doing the tasting, it went a completely different direction for the better. This may actually be my new favorite restaurant on the West Coast.

I hugged all the staff including the chefs at 12:45am, a few hours before the 2017 Eclipse. Le Pigeon made my Portland visit magical. Enough said.

I've been several times, the quality of the food is excellent and inventive. This time I felt that the inventiveness went a little to far. Of the four dishes we had (excluding the fois gras profiteroles) 3 were misses. Unlike our previous 5 visits, we felt that the combinations did not work well together. i.e. Beet and roughtfourt tortellini and roast pigeon - the cheese was WAY too strong and overwhelming, mixed with the Asian spices was well - weird. Felt the same way about the sweet breads and the mackerel paring.

We've appreciate Gabriel's inventiveness many times so we'll surely be back to try again.

I was visiting Portland and chose this restaurant based on reviews. Excellent food marred by poor service. The optional juice pairing contained watermelon. I explained that my daughter dislikes watermelon so we declined the juice pairing. The first course was a delicious tuna tartare in a watermelon broth. Our server never checked on us. The restaurant wasn't busy. After awhile I flagged down another server and asked if the dish could be remade without the broth. It was. Our server returned annoyed and condescendingly reminded us that she had asked us about food prefernces. If my daughter didn't want watermelon juice, why would she want watermelon broth? After this our server pretty much ignored us. My daughter did not like her drink. The glass sat full on the table throughout 3 more courses. No one ever asked us if she liked the drink or if she would prefer another drink. I watched our server behave differently to all her other tables. She smiled and chatted with the patrons at her other tables. She never asked us if we were enjoying our meal. I enjoy fine dining and know how servers should treat all their customers. We are African American. We were treated poorly at this restaurant and therefore cannot recommend it. Too bad because the food was excellent.

Our third time back, always getting the five-course tasting menu, and as always an exceptional meal. I've had some great meals, but this one tops the list hands down. We haven't done French Laundry yet, but I think Le Pigeon is going to stay right up there with it.
