Best desert ever! I wish I can eat their deserts every day.
Chef Gabe is an absolute genius. The tasting menu he walked us through was incredible. Each plate complimented the last and was perfectly balanced both flavor and portion.
Wonderful food and perfect service. Never a miss
One of the best restaurants in Portland. I've been here twice now and it is becoming my favorite. The tasting menu with the wine pairings is superb. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Excellent menu. Food was fantastic. Acoustics are bad - very loud!
Per usual, Le Pigeon never disappoints. Food was amazing, wait staff was great, and the foie gras profiteroles are always amazing - so glad they remain on the menu!
Excellent 5 course tasting menu with wine pairing! Top notch service and amazingly delicious cuisine!!’
We had reservations and were seated promptly. It is small and intimate. We went with the tasting menu. I had seven course and my wife the five. Each dish was well thought out and complex. I can’t begin to stress the excellent levels of taste each dish had.
At the end of the dinner I couldn’t eat on of the savory courses and they took it off the bill. Overall a wonderful dinner...
Le Pigeon was fabulous – food (the variety! the presentation! the flavors!), ambiance, and service were all phenomenal. Highly recommend the beverage pairings – the staff taught us so much about the different wines we drank and why they were chosen to complement the different tasting menu dishes. We will return next time we’re in town!
We had a 9:15 reservation but stopped by at 8:45 just to see if by chance they could seat us early. Although busy (this place is tiny!) a table had recently left and so we were able to get our table after a short wait, which was nice.
We did the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings and it did not disappoint. Our server took the time to explain the wines and why they were chosen to accommodate each dish. Everything was presented in a sincere yet unstuffy manner. We always had everything that we needed before we even realized we needed it (water, new utensils, etc). We were treated to a surprise glass of sherry towards the end of our meal, which was a pleasant surprise.
The food was exceptional. The presentations were beautiful and the portions generous- they seemed to increase in volume with every course. The timing for each course was perfect.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would absolutely recommend Le Pigeon.
Butter lettuce and salmon appetizers were good. We had fried chicken with truffle - didn’t taste the truffle because so many overpowering flavors. We also had the beef cheeks and the sauce was a bit strong. The frois gras dessert was good.
We liked 3/8 meals we had in the tasting menu. Most of the food was salty or had strange flavors. Service was fine but nothing wow. Overall, disappointed that less than half the dishes were descent, especially for the price.
Everything was amazing. Only downside was it shares a wall with a bar and their music was shaking the restaurant at times
I'm not really sure there is anything that can be said about this restaurant that hasn't been said before. The quality of the food and service was amazing. We barely glanced at the menu and went with the tasting menu and wine pairings and it did not disappoint at all. Every item that came out was visually appealing and flavorful. The service was top notch and the staff gave excellent descriptions of each item as it was presented. We will definitely come back again.
our table wasn't ready when we arrived but the wait staff was apologetic and gave us complimentary after dinner drinks. the food was great as was the ambiance. one of my favorite places in town.
Nothing but good things to say. Excellent service, food and wine. Highly recommend.
The service was excellent. The kitchen staff was able to work around my dietary restriction to produce a dinner with excellent flavors that looked as good as it tasted. Certainly a place that I would go back to without any hesitation.
Everything is great except for the loud music blasting from a club next door. Didn't anticipate that.
We had a wonderful evening here. Our waiter David was terrific and very attentive. Our food was fantastic. We especially loved the fried chicken dish, tres bon!!
There was excellent care taken to make my experience a special one. I’ve been coming here every year on my birthday and it is special and unique every time!
Too noisy, ordinary and expensive food
I hadn't been to Le Pigeon for many months. It is still fantastic! Our table of 4 had the 5-course tasting menu with wine pairings. Everything was excellent. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Food was creative and delicious (especially the boeuf bourguignon). Wines were interesting and nicely complimented each course.
One of Portland's best restaurants (maybe "the best").
Flew from Los Angeles just to have dinner. Well worth the 2hr flight. Chef Gabriel is awesome and his staff was amazing. Very friendly and professional service through the entire night.
Really exceptional food.
Visiting from hawaii
Finally got a reservation when visiting Portland and was well worth it. Every dish was amazing and fabulous service!
Arguably my favorite restaurant in Portland. It was my wife’s birthday and we ordered the 7 course tasting menu which was fantastic
Location makes for difficult parking, but this is not necessarily the fault of the restaurant. Perhaps I am a little stingy with my stars, but I will explain. The restaurant is small, and it is a bit of squeeze to enter and leave. The ambiance is o.k., not amazing. Noise level is not deafening, and our party did not have to yell to be heard. The negroni cocktail was very delicious, and the wine menu is quite extensive.
We ordered the king crab and teriyaki salmon starters. Very interesting pairings of ingredients. Crab was overcooked and a bit rubbery. Salmon starter is served with salty rice ice cream, which actually was very good.
We each selected different entrees: agnolotti, rack of lamb, duck confit, and the fish special (Alaskan black cod). Presentation of three dishes was very nice; the agnolotti had a decorative smear that looked like refried beans or worse. It did not look mouth-watering, but tasted good nonetheless. Again, a very interesting pairing of flavors made for an enjoyable meal.
Service was very good and not at all intrusive.
Overall, this was a pleasant experience with a few less-than-perfect dishes. For the prices, I expected near perfection on all fronts and it fell a tad short. It is a place to try unique ingredient pairings.
Chef’s tasting menu was one of the best meals I’ve ever had
My husband and I hadn't had a date in months, it was exactly what we had hoped for. The food was very beautiful and so delicious. The tuna tartare and foie profiteroles were the stars.
Service was perfect, love the space, glad we finally made it in.
DELICIOUS. Share a wine pairing with another person or you will get super drunk. Good value. Mind-blowing food.
This place is the BOMB.
I cant explain how delicious these dishes were.
I would highly recommend the lamb and the fried chicken dishes.
The server was also great at recommending which wine to pair with the dishes.
I wasn't a huge fan of the beef cheek lasagna dish. However their cod special was really interesting. I would also recommend you to try that as well.
BEST MEAL IN YEARS 🙌🏼
Great experience can't thank the chef and his team for the hospitality enough. He knew my girlfriend was vegetarian and offered a fried mushroom take of the fried chicken option and it was great. Big and rich with that heavy handed French food, was really great experience. Was visiting from Mpls and a fellow cook was very happy to eat there and little bird for my first time in Portland and after years of going through your cookbook. Thanks again, can't wait to try your new venue once it opens
Simply the best customer service I've ever had at a restaurant. We booked several weeks ahead for my husband's 30th birthday and when we got there it was clear why! It's a small space with excellent food so it's understandable why they book up early. We were seated immediately and I liked how even though some neighboring tables were near by to ours they had seating arranged for optimal privacy and comfort. I'm pregnant and asked for a non alcoholic cocktail and was served one of the best drinks I've ever had - they made me a kiwi, lime, coconut spritzer with fresh squeezed kiwi! It tasted tropical and light and I appreciated their creativity.
We split the crab and pork belly appetizer which was fantastic. The bread and butter they had at the table was fresh and addictive. For our main courses I had the seafood daily special - a salmon dish. It was very generous in terms of proportion and the flavors were spot on! My husband got the duck which he also loved. We also split a creme brulee for dessert that had such a beautiful glaze on the top.
Service was sublime - our water cups never even got halfway empty, when getting up to use the restroom you would return to your napkin freshly folded by the hostess. It was all these little attentions to detail that made the meal even more special! The cherry on top of the whole night was when our waiter brought out my boxed up leftovers he said there was a little present for us and he pulled out a onesie for our baby (that's still in my belly). It was so sweet I almost cried. It said Le Pigeon above and Dirty Birdie below. Adorable! Thanks to all the staff at Le Pigeon who made my husband's 30th birthday so memorable and I can't wait to put our baby girl in the onesie when she's born!
Gabe and Team continue to amaze me with their creativity and execution! Food was fabulous! Help with matching wine to our selected dishes was perfectly on point. Keep doing what you do :-)
A very Portland location with exquisite food and amiable service. Our foodie friends enjoyed the meal immensely as did my wife and I. I had the five course tasting menu while my wife had the crab starter and a salad which she found sufficient. We did not do a wine pairing but opted for a server recommended red which with replenishment carried us through the meal. The quality of the food and service was similar to Gary Dankos in San Francisco. We will return.
It can take some effort to get a reservation as this place is still very popular. I would say worth the effort as the food was excellent. Our party of four each ordered a different entre, from fried chicken to beef tongue lasagna bourguignon and all were superb. My only hesitation is that the place is really small and tightly packed. Just makes it hard for me to focus and enjoy the meal fully.
