There was a heavy metal band playing above the restaurant almost like it was in the restaurant. I don’t understand why they put up with it.
Intimate atmosphere and superb food
The service was great as always. But the food has really gone downhill. Some dishes were so acidic and out of balance they were almost painful to eat. Others were muddy and tasted of nothing in particular, like something left in the slow cooker for an extra day. And it seemed like every dish was decorated with odd daubs of sauce that didn't even work with the rest. The whole experience convinced me not to go back any time soon.
Best restaurant in Portland!
Visiting Portland from DC for my 30th- this was the perfect spot to celebrate. Thank you & well done! We hope to come again soon!
We had the 7 courses meal with pairing and my only complain would be that each meal came to quickly one after another. We didn't even have time to finish our wine and the next meal with wine was at our table. We wanted to have a long evening relaxing enjoying food and drinks but we felt a bit push.
Love this place. The food, atmosphere and service are all wonderful. This evening we had the seared foie gras, followed by the beef cheeks that were very rich in flavor. Look forward to visiting again in the near future.
Very loud concert next door that night unfortunately but dinner was amazing and it is always a great experience!!
Birthday dinner was quite the experience, some foods over salted slightly, great music in background, fun night thank you
Creative and well prepared food. Zero privacy with tables elbow to elbow. Main courses were priced fairly. Apps were over priced. Glad I went. Wouldn't be in regular rotation given the variety of restaurants in Portland.
The food was incredible!! We did the tasting menu, and every single dish was phenomenal. Also may have been the best dessert I’ve ever had!
Exceeded our expectations on every level.
Every dish was superb and beautifully presented.
Best desert ever! I wish I can eat their deserts every day.
Chef Gabe is an absolute genius. The tasting menu he walked us through was incredible. Each plate complimented the last and was perfectly balanced both flavor and portion.
Wonderful food and perfect service. Never a miss
One of the best restaurants in Portland. I've been here twice now and it is becoming my favorite. The tasting menu with the wine pairings is superb. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Excellent menu. Food was fantastic. Acoustics are bad - very loud!
Per usual, Le Pigeon never disappoints. Food was amazing, wait staff was great, and the foie gras profiteroles are always amazing - so glad they remain on the menu!
Excellent 5 course tasting menu with wine pairing! Top notch service and amazingly delicious cuisine!!’
This place is small. 3 of us got crammed into a corner sitting barely 2 feet from the next table. We were expecting an uncomfortable experience but the experience was so good, we didn't really mind. The food was amazing. Creative and tasty. Not a single bad dish from our "tasting" menu selection. Relatively affordable(by San Francisco, LA and NYC standards). Will definitely go back when I'm back in the Portland area.
We had reservations and were seated promptly. It is small and intimate. We went with the tasting menu. I had seven course and my wife the five. Each dish was well thought out and complex. I can’t begin to stress the excellent levels of taste each dish had.
At the end of the dinner I couldn’t eat on of the savory courses and they took it off the bill. Overall a wonderful dinner...
Le Pigeon was fabulous – food (the variety! the presentation! the flavors!), ambiance, and service were all phenomenal. Highly recommend the beverage pairings – the staff taught us so much about the different wines we drank and why they were chosen to complement the different tasting menu dishes. We will return next time we’re in town!
We had a 9:15 reservation but stopped by at 8:45 just to see if by chance they could seat us early. Although busy (this place is tiny!) a table had recently left and so we were able to get our table after a short wait, which was nice.
We did the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings and it did not disappoint. Our server took the time to explain the wines and why they were chosen to accommodate each dish. Everything was presented in a sincere yet unstuffy manner. We always had everything that we needed before we even realized we needed it (water, new utensils, etc). We were treated to a surprise glass of sherry towards the end of our meal, which was a pleasant surprise.
The food was exceptional. The presentations were beautiful and the portions generous- they seemed to increase in volume with every course. The timing for each course was perfect.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would absolutely recommend Le Pigeon.
Birthday dinner
Butter lettuce and salmon appetizers were good. We had fried chicken with truffle - didn’t taste the truffle because so many overpowering flavors. We also had the beef cheeks and the sauce was a bit strong. The frois gras dessert was good.
We liked 3/8 meals we had in the tasting menu. Most of the food was salty or had strange flavors. Service was fine but nothing wow. Overall, disappointed that less than half the dishes were descent, especially for the price.
Everything was amazing. Only downside was it shares a wall with a bar and their music was shaking the restaurant at times
I'm not really sure there is anything that can be said about this restaurant that hasn't been said before. The quality of the food and service was amazing. We barely glanced at the menu and went with the tasting menu and wine pairings and it did not disappoint at all. Every item that came out was visually appealing and flavorful. The service was top notch and the staff gave excellent descriptions of each item as it was presented. We will definitely come back again.
Really fantastic
our table wasn't ready when we arrived but the wait staff was apologetic and gave us complimentary after dinner drinks. the food was great as was the ambiance. one of my favorite places in town.
Amazing food
Nothing but good things to say. Excellent service, food and wine. Highly recommend.
The service was excellent. The kitchen staff was able to work around my dietary restriction to produce a dinner with excellent flavors that looked as good as it tasted. Certainly a place that I would go back to without any hesitation.
Everything is great except for the loud music blasting from a club next door. Didn't anticipate that.
We had a wonderful evening here. Our waiter David was terrific and very attentive. Our food was fantastic. We especially loved the fried chicken dish, tres bon!!
There was excellent care taken to make my experience a special one. I’ve been coming here every year on my birthday and it is special and unique every time!
Too noisy, ordinary and expensive food
I hadn't been to Le Pigeon for many months. It is still fantastic! Our table of 4 had the 5-course tasting menu with wine pairings. Everything was excellent. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Food was creative and delicious (especially the boeuf bourguignon). Wines were interesting and nicely complimented each course.
One of Portland's best restaurants (maybe "the best").
Flew from Los Angeles just to have dinner. Well worth the 2hr flight. Chef Gabriel is awesome and his staff was amazing. Very friendly and professional service through the entire night.
