Le Petit Paris
Le Petit Paris is a casual French bistro where comfort and conversation are key to the dining experience. Head Chef and Owner Alain Sutbon greets every guest and sets the tone for the evening over a glass of his favorite red wine. Located near Chicago's famous Miracle Mile, Le Petit Paris has become a go-to haven for tired tourists and locals after a long day of shopping.
The food at Le Petit Paris is described as approachable French cuisine. Diners can try classic dishes like a Coq a Vin Rouge, which is chicken in a red wine sauce served with bacon, carrots, mushrooms and onions. If guests want a true taste of France, they can choose with the iconic duck a l'orange, served in a grand mariner sauce. Le Petit Paris also keeps an extensive collection of French wines for guests to pair with each meal.

My husband and I have recently returned for our 4th time. The food is outstanding! Every time we come we try something new and we haven't found a single thing that disappoints. It has become our goal to work our way through the entire menu. It's a great date night place, quiet and romantic.
Even for a Frenchman, this person was extremely rude. The service was terrible and slow as he literally sat down with his favorites. For ten minutes at a time. The only good reviews must be his regulars, as he is only selectively polite to them,.
SAVE YOUR MONEY. This was our anniversary dinner and his rude attitude spoiled it. The food was good, but who cares??,
Second time coming to this lovely place. My gf and I have had an amazing experience both times with us trying new menu items both times. This is a must for a date location. We will surely be making this a regular dining location on an at least monthly basis.
Wonderful service, delicious food at a reasonable price. We also appreciated the quiet ambience. No noise or screen distractions, with which to struggle through conversations. Checked all the boxes for our dining pleasure! And if casual & French can be in the same sentence, here it is.
Alain is a wonderful host
Excellent food, outstanding service …. a hidden gem that we will go to again, and again and yet again
Delicious food served in a beautiful atmosphere.
Thank you Alain for keeping the spirit alive! Your energetic service and delicious food are so wonderful! We are thrilled you have kept this special place going almost single handedly during this pandemic! Keep it up! Every morsel was delicious! Especially the chilled bubbly, the best salad and the trout special! Thanks! See you next year!
I could not possibly recommend this restaurant hard enough. The Onion Soup? Probably the finest thing ever to hit my tongue. I will be talking about it for at least three months. My new goal in life is to learn to make it half as well.
Killer martinis with adorable little dividend glasses on ice, a calf liver so perfectly prepared as to literally bring tears to my eyes, and a Beef Bourguignon I will spend any number of hours attempting to decode and reconstruct.
My fiancé floated an easy four feet off of her chair at the supreme service, modesty, and charm of the owner/cook/bartender/server/angel. I was not far behind.
My only regret is that he refused any tip that wasn't a cash offering to the staff (and himself) for beers at the end of the week. Bring a huge bill along with you, you'll beg to add it to the fishbowl.
The only picture I have to memorialize the evening is one of the soup, post-demolishing. It was all simply too ridiculously delicious to remember to capture.
Been to many restaurants in major U.S. cities and Europe. Le Petite Paris is a gem! Our only regret is that we had dinner here our last night in Chicago!!
Great food and private place
I have been to several of the top class French restaurants in the USA . I have to say that La Petite Paris has the best food and service . I now have a favorite French food Restaurant in Chicago and the USA . Thanks to a great dinner
Alain was doing it all and doing it very well. So happy he is still at it.
The food was excellent, everything came out perfect. The simplicity and authenticity of the meal was what made the experience for us.
Classic French cuisine at its finest! In a city full of great restaurants, this is by far one of our favorites. The owner Alain greets every guest and welcomes them with warmth, humor and a fantastic menu which never disappoints. Two of our favorite entrees, Beef bourguignon and steak tartare. If you’re looking for a quiet restaurant with a laid back ambiance and classic French cuisine, this is the place.
Terrific gem of a place in the Gold Coast, off the beaten (and tourist-packed) Mag Mile path. Highly recommended for a chill, classic French bistro where you can actually sit and talk.
As always an outstanding experience! Alaine made sure everything was fantastic. We love Le Petit Paris!
Fabulous food! Interior needs updating and restaurant could use more servers. Owner can be wonderfully attentive or ignore you, all in the same night.
Owner/ waiter edgy.
Try the whitefish it is great. Generous pours on cocktails.
Worst restaurant experience ever. Rude, insulting service. Mediocre food. Just plain bad
Fantastic food, gracious host, great wine. A lovely dinner with French ambiance and quiet French music or jazz playing in the background! We will be back many times. Thank you!
We walked in and no one greeted us for 8 minutes. The owner/chef stared at my husband from across the room. He finally came over and asked if he could help us- as if we were in the wrong place. When we said we had reservations and were a bit early he said “well. That’s a problem. I have nowhere to put you”. There were on 2 tables occupied. He said he could put us in the bar. He proceeds into a dark room off the dining room and flips on a light over what appears to a bar with Xmas decor and approximately 5 bottles of liquor. He moves trash off of the bar and instructs us to sit. He then goes behind the bar where he does not offer us a drink and tells us his waiter, dishwasher and bartender quit but the good news is he is making money. We sat in the dark room for 10 minutes while he goes in and out - never offering a drink or an explanation. We started to look for other reservations and got up to leave and he runs across the restaurant shouting “where are you going???” NEVER again.
Wonderful food and atmosphere!
Wonderful food! Having been in France many times this was as close as it gets to authentic fine dining! Alain was running around trying to please his customers due to the fact that he’s waiters have left to collect unemployment which was sad to see. The restaurant interior is quaint but could use some refurbishing but that did not detract from the delicious food!
We came here for my dad’s birthday and had the most amazing meal. This is our new favorite restaurant to go to. The owner is also very funny and genuinely cares about you having a good dining experience.
If you live in or are visiting the Gold Coast- Streeterville area, and enjoy French cooking, Le Petite Paris should be at the top of your list. It is hands down one of the best intimate dining experiences that exists in downtown Chicago. A gem at the best value.
This is the best restaurant in Chicago. The food is outstanding, the prices are beyond reasonable, the atmosphere is delightful. The owner is amazing and always working to ensure a perfect dining experience. We go here almost every week and have never been disappointed. If you have not been to this somewhat hidden gem
In the middle of the city, make the effort to go!
Owner is amazing! Perfect classic French dishes.
As usual a wonderful, relaxing meal. Our dinner was just what we wanted to celebrate a birthday. Well-executed salads and entrees and perfect cocktails and wine to accompany them.
This has been such a difficult year for neighborhood gems like Le Petit Paris.
We’re so happy that Alain has been able to stay open and we are looking forward to many more lovely meals.
Always have a great experience here. The food and service are terrific. Love the vibe of the restaurant.
Completely enjoyed. One of us slightly disappointed with liver.
The owner really is just rude and doing too much...
We loved this restaurant! Fresh fish was exceptional (we had three different entree fish). Pork medallions excellent as well. Salads generous and delicious. Bread wonderful. Chef/host made us feel welcome. We will go back!!
Anniversary dinner. Intimate, with great food, made better by the personal interaction with the owner who greets and talks with most patrons
It was going to be my special 61 birthday since we all lost on the 2020 birthdays
And the owner/chef. Was so rude for being 10 mins late and also waiting for 7 mins in entrance way for him to come get us
He came out RUDE stating I was late and he gave my table away
As we all know during covid YOU HAVE TO RESERVE ON LINE
Why would I give my money to someone so disrespectful
This is always a treat.
We had the calves liver and the steak tartare.
This is one of the few restaurants where these are executed classically and perfectly.
What a hidden jewel of a bistro.
For those who read this review review, please, just keep it to yourselves.
Everything perfect as always! Food, ambiance, Alain spectacular! Our go to place in the neighborhood!
The food was out of this world! Loved the escargot and the steak
Frites! The portions were generous and everything tasted wonderful. Food and beverages are super well priced.
The only slight negative is that Alain (owner/host/service/chef den cuisine) was the only one on the floor. There was a little lag in between courses and the bill.
Wonderful place for a quiet dinner of excellent French cuisine
