About Le Parisien
Le Parisien is the go-to neighborhood bistrot for Murray Hill, offering classic French food like steak frites, escargots and moules marinieres, paired with a well-edited list of french wines.
Chef Johnathan Masse brings his expert knowledge of comfort food, having most recently served as sous chef at the Waverly Inn, and also for Chef Jonathan Waxman of Barbuto. Along with owner Christian Merand, formerly of Jean-Claude in Soho, they have created a restaurant that focuses on serving consistently great traditional food with a lively and unmistakeably French atmosphere.

Le Parisien Ratings and Reviews
service is rushed, food is tasteless & overpriced, tables are too close to each other. had a grilled artichoke salad for $13 that was a pile of arugula & canned artichokes lightly browned! very disappointing. the busboy took my plate out from under me while I still had the fork in my mouth. horrid, rushed service.
While I enjoyed my steak and my husband his salmon, we found the tables spaced too close together and the noise level didn't lend itself to conversation.
Not very friendly wait staff. Our waitress never asked how we were enjoying our food, or if we needed anything.
Based on the aforementioned, we won't be back anytime soon.
I have been to Le Parisien with friends and family multiple times, eaten almost everything on the menu and never been disappointed. This most recent visit, we had three different kinds of mussels, which were all spectacular, salad and creme brulee. The service is courteous and swift but not hovering. I do recommend making a reservation because it's becoming better and better known as a find.
I can't say enough about this place. The casual setting, delicious food, excellent wine, great service, and unbeatable prices! Everything mixed together made for a truly spectacular evening. Highly recommend Le Parisien! Definitely make a reservation since there are limited tables and was full throughout the evening.
Delicious food in a charming little boîte. About 12 -15 tables. We can recommend the skate, the special zucchini soup, the endive salad, and the tarte tatin. Wines by the glass fell short for us. Very limited wine list and those we drank were sub-par. Efficient, friendly service.
We love Le Parisien; the food is always top-quality and it's a cozy neighborhood favorite. I feel like we have our own busy bistro tucked away right by Lex and 33rd. But it's not like no one knows it--the place is always packed, for good reason. Hard to find something so dependable and reasonable these days.
I came here with my boyfriend on Valentine's day for the pre-fixe menu. Each course was delicious, I LOVED my salmon with veggie risotto main course which the waiter recommended for me. The restaurant is small and cozy--so beware that you will be sitting very close to the people next to you. This didn't bother us one bit though. The staff were all nice and attentive. Overall it was a great dinner we were really happy with our choice to come here.
The food was good and I would return. The space is very small and while we did go here late on a Friday evening I was disappointed that they were out of creme brûlée and the apple tart. Additionally I chose this restaurant because I wanted something very specific which I found out they did not have on their winter menu; however, the restaurant's website did not specify whether the menus available online was for spring or winter.
Le Parisien is not a large restaurant but it has wonderful ambiance and the food is really quite good. The dishes are very nicely presented and delicious. The menu is not extensive but there is sufficient variety as well as specials so you can avoid repeats. Although not repeating some of the dishes is hard. This is one of our go to places in NYC.
LE PARISIEN is a wonderfully warm bistro, a little bit of Paris in the Murray Hill area. Everyone there is so personable and the food is always well prepared and plated with care. The atmosphere is one that Collette would have recognized and felt at home in. I have tried everything on the menu and it is all wonderful. Don't pass up a chance to have a wonderful evening at Le Parisien.
As many other reviewers have said, this small, intimate space has wonderful atmosphere; you really do feel transported to someplace very far east of 33rd and 3rd--i.e. to France. The portion of moules I had was very generous, loved the choice of 4 ways to serve them, and my husband, a coq au vin affianado, was extremely pleased with his. We will definitely go back. We were searching the neighborhood and found this thanks to Open Table!
Nice Paris style bistro
Enjoyed casual lunch in an unrushed atmosphere. I had endive salad with roquefort & pears (very tasty). My dining companion had mussels and she also liked it very much. The space is very cozy but can feel a little tight. Quite a lovely place -I'd like to try it for dinner next time.
In a very small space, the owners of Le Parisien have created bistro French food of a high quality. My skate was superb accompanied by caramelized onions & artichoke puree; my husband had Rainbow trout with lentils which was good, but not superb. The tarte tantan was delicious & the prices were moderate.
Le Parisien was definitely a find. A very small restaurant, it was good we made reservations. The food and wine were very good. It was a bit noisy and we were seated in a crowded area where you could listen to the next table's conversation. But overall, i would go there again.
We had a very nice dinner but we accidentally spilled a glass of wine that caused some spray towards our neighbor. We apologized but they were not so accepting. The wait staff gave them a glass of wine on the house and cleaned our mess with efficiency and politeness. I can not say more about how well the staff handled a difficult situation during a very busy time. I will always recommend this restaurant for the food and the great staff!
We tried its white wine. It tastes great! And the food was very delicious. We like the order of courses very much. As part of my girlfriend's words, it was very similar to what she got in France. We came on New Year's Eve, so the food was special for the peculiar day.
