About Le Parisien

Le Parisien is the go-to neighborhood bistrot for Murray Hill, offering classic French food like steak frites, escargots and moules marinieres, paired with a well-edited list of french wines.
Chef Johnathan Masse brings his expert knowledge of comfort food, having most recently served as sous chef at the Waverly Inn, and also for Chef Jonathan Waxman of Barbuto. Along with owner Christian Merand, formerly of Jean-Claude in Soho, they have created a restaurant that focuses on serving consistently great traditional food with a lively and unmistakeably French atmosphere.

Also open daily for lunch and brunch on weekends.

A little bit of Paris in NYC. A charming French bistro. Wonderful food. A solid wine selection. Terrific deserts.

We like this place. It’s a cross between a rough around the edges NYC neighborhood café and a backstreet Parisian bistro. The menu is by-the-book bistro, no imaginative leaps here, but everything is beautifully made. If you’re craving bistro and you can’t make it to Paris, you found your place.

Did my research and settled on Le Parisien because I wanted a cozy, authentic French bistro. We were not disappointed. The food from start to finish was delicious. The place is very small, and one must be mindful not to linger too long, as they have different seating times each night. I believe the owners were there, working hard to keep all patrons served well and in a timely fashion. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and will return when next in NYC.

I came here for a birthday dinner (third time now) and was not disappointed. The mussels are fresh and delicious. The special was divine. They have a good wine list and the servers are so attentive and friendly!
This time we had dessert and I would literally come here JUST for the profiteroles. It was the perfect finish to this dinner.

I found Le Parisien a few years ago when looking for Chicken. I have since tried to come back each time I am in NYC. Food is consistent, service professional, attentive but not hovering. So reminds me of dinner in any French city.

Great food. A little bit loud to my taste, and a little bit too close to other tables. But it’s a French restaurant. No complaints.

Great little French place. Always have great food there. It can get a bit cramped but that’s part of the NYC experience. Still one of my favorite places to come when I visit.

Very pleased with our dinner here. Place is tiny and we were fortunate to be seated at the window. The food here is first rate and authentic. Wine list small but perfectly matched to menu. Will definitely go back next time in town.

A small restaurant that is exactly what it says it is... traditional French bistro food. Think escargots, onion soup, duck confit, etc. Not innovative, but that's the point. You go here to refresh some distant memory of visiting France back when bistro food was your definition of "great French cuisine". Service was good with waiters with French accents. Kitchen staff (which you pass by enroute to the restroom) were not French. No matter. Food was good. A bit noisy, so a little challenging for conversation. On a cold winter's night - it was just what wanted!

All for of us had an absolutely delicious meal here! One of the best dinners I had in a while. Can whole heartedly recommend the artichoke salad, onion soup, duck confit, steak frites. Don’t skip dessert either! My single criticism about the meal was that the profiteroles weren’t filled with cream like I expected but vanilla ice cream instead.

We were greeted with big smiles from both proprietors into this cozy, charming French Bistro space. A large blackboard gave exactly enough information regarding wines that were thoughtfully offered. A variety of Italian, French and Argentine by the glass, 1/2 Litre or bottle. The service was informative, cheerful and not rushed. There are about 15-20 tables, it seems, which makes this a cozy, romantic, almost secret enclave feeling. It felt as though we were in
Paris, on a side street or almost anywhere in a small town in France or Italy. Completely recommend for comfort food with a twist (roasted fresh artichoke and tomato salad with lemon tarragon dressing), French Onion Soup (not gloppy or burned or too sweet, just perfect). My husband had seared tuna over wild rice. My choice was the 1/2 roasted chicken over mushrooms with a side of spinach and garlic. Perfectly prepared! There is a Floating Island on the dessert menu which we will order next time. This is a neighborhood find!

Wonderful food. First time here. My only complaint is that the host/hostess came over 4 times to get our dinner order within the first 10 minutes Of sitting down (we had a 6:00 reservation and were seated on time. I ordered a glass of wine immediately but like to drink for 15-20 minutes before I order food. After the 4th time they asked if we were ready to order (6:10) I told him a bit irritated that I would let him know when we were ready to order. Then he finally said they need to turn over the table. I asked him when. He said 7:30. I told him NO problem that we’d be gone by then. We were done by 7:15 as I knew we would be. Just rude of them to be so aggressive.

We dined at Le Parisien this past Saturday after participating in the Women’s March. The restaurant is very small and is suitable for couples who want a delicious French meal in a space that feels a little bit like Paris. Tables are close together and do not really permit very private conversations. The wine list is limited so you won’t spend a lot of time choosing the perfect bottle. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. I loved the sautéed pork medallions and my wife enjoyed the trout with lentils. Dessert was equally good with the Apple tarte being my selection. Wait staff was courteous and efficient. This is a nice neighborhood bistro for a tasty meal without the kids.

Food is great, service is warm and efficient and not overly fussy. Food came out much too quickly though and there was not enough time between courses. Everything else is so authentically French so this surprised me. Tables are very close together (again typical of a French bistrot), but maybe just a bit too close. Great wine values.

It was casual yet a tasteful fining experience. Our meals came fast and the waiter was accomadating. Best part was there wine selection. The price fit the quality of the bottle. Didnt feel like I was ripped off. 10/10 experience in my book

One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. This is the quintessential French neighborhood restaurant, from the ambiance to the food. We ordered quite a few items on the menu, and I highly recommend all of the dishes.

This is the second time we've been to Le Parisien. The food is magnificent, the portions are just right, the atmosphere is a sort of muted- lively while cozy and intimate, and the wait staff is excellent. Le Parisien is a little oasis in the center of the bustling city.

Food was good as usual. But the special NYE dinner wasn't very special, and was relatively expensive. So next year, I'd recommend either preparing some truly festive NYE options - felt magnon, duck, posters, for gras, etc. , or holding to the usual men u, which is far better than the current NYE one.

We've been to Le Parisian several times recently and each time the service has been excellent, our meals delicious. The place is small and very French. Tables are close but we didn't mind. The food has been consistently delicious and satisfying. The mussels and fish dishes are well seasoned and well matched sides. A great neighborhood bistro for a casual meal with friends and family. Good reasonable wine list. We'll be back!

We really enjoyed out meal! Due to Tunnel traffic, the restaurant honored our reservation despite being 30 minutes late. The portions were adequate and we enjoyed the Escargot, filet carpaccio , Steak frites and the skate. It was well prepared classic french bistro cuisine. I felt that the Onion soup was a bit too sweet. The waiter did not smile at all and seemed quite distant until we left. Another table noted his unhappy attitude. However the food was otherwise very good and it would be a neighbor staple if we lived in Murray Hill. Well done!!

Le Parisien is a neighborhood favorite, though it is not what it was in six months ago. Likely there is now a cook who is not well versed in preparing French food. I’ve never eaten caramelized onions that were so sweet they overwhelmed the steak frites and the French onion soup. Staff has a Parisien attitude without the food to back it up.
