Friendly staff, excellent food, and spacious rooms for good ventilation on the time of Covid.
Excellent food at this lovely restaurant. We had a late Christmas Day meal which was wonderful,
A terrific Christmas dinner.
Usually Le Monde is a go-to, but this was a fail. It was Christmas Eve, but when we got there it was only a bit busy. Still we waiting 20 minutes for the waitress, who asked if I wanted gin or vodka in my Manhattan. We ordered wine for dinner, but it came before the cocktail.
I usually go for the steak frites--and had been looking forward to it all week. Special menu though (I should have checked), so it was prime rib instead. Fatty, with meh sides, including some puck-like potatoes. I didn't even finish half.
Then the waitress stopped us, grabbed my arm, in fact, to make sure we paid. It was cash, so yes. And please don't touch me.
So, a failed birthday dinner. I don't know that we'll be back, despite the previous 25 years of dining there.
Very nice lovely restaurant. I like the vibes and the décor. I liked the food and the Spicy Margarita .
We chose to eat outside so we didn’t enjoy the restaurant’s ambiance. Everything was very good. I had the steak frites. It was very good. As was the endive salad and onion soup.
We've been eating at Le Monde since the first week it opened. We've enjoyed their burgers and, especially, their French fries. It seems that the menu has become somewhat more sophisticated in recent months--all to the good. With that increased sophistication has come an increase in prices. Many people, we included, are reluctant to eat indoors so they have fewer seats to offer their customers. I think that's part of the reason for the increase in prices. I understand and don't object.
However, it's hard to find a bottle of wine and a price that I feel is commensurate with the style--even the sophisticated style of the restaurant as it is a neighborhood venue and not a destination place.
Dining at Le Monde was an eye-opening experience. This was our first-time visit; but will not be our last. We enjoyed every aspect of the place. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. The service was fine. I would recommend Le Monde to all. It was a bit of Paris on the Upper West Side.
I recommend the excellent Vietnamese salad with the salmon addition!
We dined at an off hour, so the restaurant was relatively quiet. Still we waited 30 minutes for appetizers. 2 of the 3 main courses came out before the appetizers were finished. One main course (duck breast) took 10 minutes longer to arrive and was practically raw. By the time it was recooked, everyone else had finished eating.
Very French ambience. Food + service were very good
Always an exceptional dining experience
So happy to be back at LeMonde after almost two years. Everything about it is satisfying and as good as before Covid. Familiar menu, just what I expect in a French bistro, excellent wait staff, quiet enough to hear our dinner companions easily. Will return often.
The food and service were mostly pretty good.
Last night the noise level was much higher than usual. At 6:30 the place was packed. It quieted down after about half an hour. Food and service excellent as usual though so we'll definitely keep coming back.
I used to find Le Monde quite boring culinary-wise but always a nice place to have a glass of wine. I have now been back twice in the past two months and have found the food to be exceptional - creative and delicious! Am spreading the word to friends.
The food was terrible. My husband's lamb shank was fatty, barely edible, and my fish tasted like salty rubber. Spinach and green beans were overcooked, buttery and oily. Severely overpriced for the quality. The atmosphere, however, was festive and in keeping with most NYC bistros. The drinks were good. We will go back in the future, but only for cocktails. Will eat elsewhere.
The tables are remaining nicely separated, so for anyone wary of dining indoors, this place feels very safe. And festive for the holidays!
We just had Thanksgiving dinner at LeMonde. It is a neighborhood restaurant for us. the Prix Fixe was less than any other restaurant we called and the food was delicious. LeMonde has plenty of room between tables-- a plus in this pandemic time-- and the service is gracious and polite. They let us linger after dinner over our coffee and desert. Love this place.
It was excellent! We had mostly breakfast foods but 2 delicious hamburgers also. All great!
So fun, great food, space and cocktails
Fantastic outdoor dining
I had dinner at LeMonde-- my cod dish was really delicious-- I had lunch there about 6 months ago and was disappointed so this dinner renewed my faith in this restaurant. I will definitely be back. The service was also very good. We sat outside, which was nice except for the noise on Broadway -- but that isn't the restaurants fault.
Beautifully prepared and presented French bistro dishes—consistently excellent… for a neighborhood meal or a special get together.
Delicious dinner, as always. And the outdoor dining arrangements are really excellent - sheltered but safe, with individual heat lamps at every table, Very much appreciate the care that went into designing this space - and it is, of course, matched by the wonderful food. Perfect French onion soup, and an outstanding goat cheese salad with your choice of add-ons, like the salmon which was prepared beautifully. I've been a Le Monde customer for over 20 years and it has never, ever disappointed.
Love this place ❤️ Great desserts!
Beautiful day- good food!
Convenient when visiting Barnard. Food was very tasty and staff was friendly. Decent prices.
My friends and I had a delightful dining experience at Le Monde, and are already looking forward to our next visit there. The ambience was warm and friendly, and the food and service were impeccable. C'est Magnifique!
Food and drinks are always stellar. Only downside is that you can tell they are struggling with service (which most restaurants currently are) I hope they figure that out as I enjoy frequenting Le Monde!
The waitress was CONFUSED. Flies got in my drink and people waited so long for service. I did like my duck though
It was delicious, very fun location to do dining and drinking
Always a great choice when visiting our daughter at Columbia!
Le Monde is a delicious French Bistro with plenty of seating inside and out. There are always wonderful specials to add to the menu. Service is very friendly.
The food was average and priced somewhat above average. For the second visit the service was below inattentive. My companion asked for ice; 15 minutes later with none arrived I asked again and was met with an annoyed response. Order taking and check delivery were slow. The restaurant's outdoor spaces were at their quietest when an emergency vehicle with sirens passed in the street.
We really enjoyed dining here last night to celebrate my wife's birthday. I would have given an excellent rating... it's just that I was expecting at least the dessert to be comp since I informed the restaurant about a special occasion we were celebrating that evening.
We already ordered a lot for dinner and at least was expecting one complimentary gesture for the service.
