Good Bar and Restaurant. Had a Good Time
I’ve eaten lunch here several times and it’s fine. Nothing memorable but service is good, ambience is”cozy French bistro” and food is ok. My one disappointment is their onion soup, as it’s usually too watery for my taste with not enough thick cheese to cover its entire top. In my humble opinion French onion soup should always have a thick somewhat crispy slab of melted cheese covering the entire crock, as I’ve always eaten it in France. Otherwise their lunch menu is fine
Best French restaurant in NYC the service was incredible!
The kitchen was very slow - it took 50 minutes to get our meal. We arrived at 6:40 and need to leave by 7:30. Food arrived at 7:25! Ruined our meal.
Lovely French spot near Columbia. Service a bit slow but friendly. Comfort food French style. Not gourmet but solid!
It’s always good!
Unfortunately it appeared they were short staffed and our apps took 50 min. We generally have good service there so it was a surprise.
We were a group of 5. We waited an hour an a half for our food to arrive.
Love the classic French bistro style food, and the the drink menu is amazing. Outside dinning is available in the warm weather months so I will be back.
The food is good but the restaurant is consistently let down by patchy, if not poor, service. We have been here several times and the story is always the same - a very nice range of dishes, hit or miss service. This was not a busy night, even though this is Saturday evening in a lively, moderately well-heeled area adjacent to Columbia University, and I requested on the Open Table app a window table. We were seated right at the back of the restaurant against a wall. Oh well. On arrival, barely any greeting from the host. It took quite some time to order three drinks. They were out of tonic water (what??) so gin and tonic was not available. The drinks then took an age to come and it took even longer to order the food and then to get the food. The bussing staff seemed to be working hard but we hardly saw our waiter all evening until he came to give us the check. Considering the area, nicer eating places are a bit thin on the ground. I guess this lack of competition is how Le Monde gets away with it despite the indifferent service. I will say, however, that the food was very good - organic roast chicken, roasted cod, a decent burger - and the drinks including a Manhattan and a house pinot noir were all very tasty. So yes, I suppose I would recommend it to a friend. Only just though.
Usually Le Monde is good. Tonight at 7:30 pm they had run out of four of their main meals.
The food was delicious and I’ll definitely go back.
Great neighborhood restaurant with consistently reliable service and food.
We took out our nephew, a real foodie visiting from CA and he loved it. It was refreshing to be in a quiet restaurant where we could actually talk. All the food was delicious and it was a tremendously enjoyable meal.
food is getting better and better. Very good sea bass. Barbara much liked cassoulet and ANne also her duck confit
The service and the food are always excellent at Le Monde!
very good food except for the Brussels sprouts side dish, which was boring and tasteless and needs bacon, for example, something to give it taste
Classic French dishes served beautifully by lovely wait staff. Lots of great choices no matter mood or diet restriction. Great bread. Don’t want to rave too much becUse I want to go back and don’t want it crazy crowded.
I don't know what to say. I used to like this place but for some reason it looked pretty run-down to me this time even though the food was nice. I ordered huevos rancheros and I wish my eggs would have cooked a little bit more. I felt like they cracked open the last minute and served it. Our server was super patient with us and brought all what we were asking for. Ambiance needs a bit more update. It is 2020 and here is New York.
I always enjoy my experience at Le Monde. But some items are a bit pricey consider the size of the portions,
Staff overwhelmed on New Years Eve. Steak tough chewy inedible fries soft and soggy. Wine overpriced. Place was convenient to St John the Divine. Won’t return. Next year will stay home. There’s no place like home
Authentic Parisian brasserie food, with a Lyonnaise twist. Servers can be brusque (they're French, you know), but warm to you when you become a regular. The price quality ratio is excellent. The wine list is barely adequate, which is surprising, but the food makes up for it. The ambience has a crowded charm.
It took a long time for the drink orders to arrive. The prices were much higher than in the past.
Salmon cooked rare as asked. Attentive waiter, though took a while when needed to bring another glass of wine
Server was rude and did not seem experienced. Asked for order before we even looked at menu. Asked us how our food was after we finished. Had to search him out to ask for check and there were only two tables with people left in the restaurant.
Cow au vin was super salty.
Perfect place to meet up with friends or have a romantic dinner. Wonderful service, great food, and lovely ambiance.
Great food, good service, and reminded me of a café in Paris!
Wonder selection of background jazz (Desmond, Mulligan, Davis) was a perfect complement to the food, which was delicious and value-priced.
This is our nabe resto and it was for a birthday celebration so i really hoped for more. They put us at a teeny tiny table and then it took 2 hours for the food to come out. Sole meuniere was the special so we ordered it. When it came out it was sole amandine - a totally different dish. And when they brought bill out they also brought a credit card receipt from a different party. Not terribly reassuring about privacy. Wish it would be better.
Food for brunch was delicious and unique! I recommend the Belgian waffle which had carmelized pecans, bananas and creme fraiche-never had such a delicious combination on a waffle. That, with a side of bacon and a Bellini to start, was amazing!
Been to Le Monde several timer. First time with a reservation, however the table we got was not good at all. It was really small, nest to the cashier and super noisy.
The brunch was good.
Have in mind that Sundays are really busy and if you want I to have a quiet time this night not be the best place to go.
The food was delicious and service was excellent. We were a party of 8 and we were seated promptly. I would highly recommend Le Monde to anyone looking for a brunch spot.
Perfect spot to have a good, tasty dinner before a concert! Service was great at getting us seated and fed in time for us to make the show.
First-rate experience. My salad lyonnaise and duck confit were outstanding. My companions praised their tomato tart, mussels, and steak frites. Excellent wine, lovely atmosphere, good value. Next time we are in NYC, we'll be back.
