which is known as the Garden of France". Much of
what is found in the overflowing markets of Paris,
originates from this region. The Loire is home to
some of the most beautiful and distinctive wines to be found, with many pairing superbly with a wide variety of cuisine. With hundred of cheeses,
thousands of different wine producers, sea food,
fish and meats, it is not a surprise that the lovely
Loire valley excels.
Food excellent, service so-so. A lovely atmosphere. Good place if you are in Morningside Heights.
Great experience sitting outside along Broadway eating French classics with picturesque buildings all around. Gave our party a St Germain feeling.
I would recommend Le Monde to a friend because I have faith the food remains very good, and I have faith that the service can improve. I've been going to this restaurant for over ten years, and the food and service have always been outstanding. This time, however, the service was awful. I booked a reservation a week in advance and specified that I wanted an outdoor table. I arrive at 6 and the table wasn't ready. Five minutes later the table still wasn't ready, and the hostess seemed like she didn't know what she was doing. I didn't want to wait, so I asked to be seated inside. I was. After the waiter took our orders, we hardly ever saw him. I had to go looking for him whenever we needed something, and I had to ask someone else to bring the check over. The food was very good, but I believe that if your service remains this bad, you will lose customers. I will give the restaurant one more chance, but if I encounter this kind of service again, I will not be back.
This is a great neighborhood French restaurant that gets it right. I had the hanger steak this most recent visit, and it was outstanding, but I've had most of the classics on the menu, and they are all very good. This is a great place to go when you want to have a conversation.
This was our first time at Le Monde. We live in the area and decided to give it a try. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was pleasant (we sat outside, but the interior is nice, also). Service was very good until the server got busier. We had to refill our wine glasses ourselves because he didn’t come back. No big deal, but I do think he had more tables than one person can handle. Prices are a bit high, but the quality is good, so that’s ok. Overall, it was a great dinner and we will be back.
The servers were pleasant and attentive. The food was tasty.
Great neighborhood French restaurant; a little overpriced, but worth it for the location and the ambiance.
The overall experience at Le Monde was positive. The service is good, and everyone who works there is very nice. The ambiance is relaxing. The lighting became very dark so everyone was using their cell phone flashlights to see the menu. The food was average. Portions are generous. The dishes were pricey, but that’s normal for NYC. The average entree is $25 to $30, although there are some selections less than $20. The menu is varied. I would recommend Le Monde.
Been here many times, food is always delicious and reliable. I love the vibe here, and staff is super friendly, and most of all incredibly welcome to toddlers :)
Le Monde was a great choice for us. We were coming down from Northern Westchester and our friends were staying in Midtown. Really good French cuisine, not fussy, great service, lovely ambience. We were seated outside and when it started raining our waiter quickly got us inside and seated at the perfect table. We didn’t feel rushed and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
It was a mild evening so we had a very nice meal at the sidewalk tables. Food was well prepared and came with a good cadence. I was disappointed that our first choice for wine was not available but the 2016 Morgon was excellent and I was very happy with that. Overall, Le Monde offers a nice bistro atmosphere and menu and I would be happy to go there again.
The food is good but mediocre and the drinks are below average. The prices are WAAYYY to expensive for how mediocre it is. The atmosphere was the best part, it was perfect. The service was bad, the server was very nice but he forgot to bring some of our order and didn’t bring out a drink until after our plates were already taken away. He gave us our check and we immediately had everything ready but we watched as he walked away and stood in a corner staring out at the tables doing nothing for a solid 5 minutes before returning.
Very tasty brunch. Delicious eggs Benedict. Attentive and pleasant service. Noise level high because of too many small children. A bit crowded with the strollers, maybe these could be put to the side. Like the decor, reminds me of a Paris bistro.
We're a group of Easter Paraders who brunch at Le Monde for the past few years before heading to Fifth Avenue & the Easter Parade. LOVE the service and the food -- at a price our group can afford and still feel like we've enjoyed fine dining! There's a reason we're always able to leave our waiter a hefty tip! We want to urge Le Monde: Keep the current price point, and you'll keep us coming back next time!
We have had dinner a few times here, the service and food has been consistently outstanding.
I loved this place two years ago when I came. But I thought the food was poor to average on my recent trip. Stay away from the gristly steak and eggs at brunch. And, really, the service was kinda subpar, as well. Too bad, because the location is exceptionally convenient for me. Just seems like they aren't working that hard anymore to satisfy customers.
Went in for an anniversary dinner and the service was top notch, food was delicious, and decor was warm & inviting.
The setting is great, a little noisy and table are tight. Don't sit in the banquet.
The service was very slow for a Saturday afternoon. It took 45 minutes for 3 burgers and 1 avocado toast. The order wasn’t complicated and the table next to us who were seated after us already got their orders before we did. We also had a baby at our table so time was of the essence.
Excellent service and food. They gave us a nice quiet table per our request. They allowed us to stay late and didn’t rush us at all. Couldn’t have been more pleased.
Excellent food and very attentive service. A very nice neighborhood crowd. An extensive menu with a wide range of choices. So convenient to the Columbia campus.
Spectacular service and warm ambiance. The managers and servers took excellent care of our large group. Everyone loved their choices. We can’t wait to go back!
Great service! Great food!
Delicious food and great ambience. My favorite restaurant on th upper west side. I highly recommend.
Delicious meal, great service.
The food was good, although my main course portion of duck confit was small and not crispy; my wife's main course was "fine". My desert was good. It was very busy, possibly understaffed for a Friday night, but the service was pleasant and as as good as possible under the circumstances.
We had a gluten free diner who needed to be sure there was no contamination. We appreciated that our server knew what would be safe and - more importantly- what wouldn't, so we could be confident that everything would be OK. Great food all around.
We were three people who hadn’t seen each other in a decade and the staff let us sit there for three hours - no rushing. Didn’t bring the check until we asked.
Beef short ribs were rich and delicious. Brussel sprouts were good, not great. Ex Libris Cabernet Suavignon wine from Washington State was very good
Le Monde is one of a group of French bistros in NYC with a common owner, Chef Driven Group. We visit several of them fairly regularly for their ambiance that reminds us of Paris and the food that is consistently good to excellent. Le Monde in particular is in the perfect location, just a block from the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, where we frequently attend musical performances in their Great Music in a Great Space series. Seating can be a little crowded, and the chairs and tables could be a little more comfortable, but these are minor considerations that are quickly forgotten when the food arrives.
We were a large group for brunch and we were truly accomodated. Efficient service, great food and we never felt rushed.
Yes, but I saved for three years (sister’s birthday), my friends aren’t likely to partake...
Extremely welcoming and gracious staff for our first wedding anniversary dinner. This was where we had our first date 8 years ago and they have never let us down.
Good neighborhood place for when the better spots are booked.
Classy, sweet ambiance, and delicious food
Overall Le Monde was a low-key trendy but still down to earth place to take my wife out for a Thursday night meal. The focus was good (not best I've ever had), but the ambiance was exactly what I wanted. I would recommend as a spot to visit in a pinch.
Amazing meal. The manager on duty on Saturday night was kind and helpful. He moved us to a really nice big table without us asking.
I’ve been here for breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch and enjoyed it every time and will be back again.
Consistently good food and service in a charming relaxing atmosphere. A neighborhood gem and also worth the drive.
Our waiter seemed like he was in another planet! He forgot things, and. didn’t pay any attention to us. The phone ringing was intrusive- maybe it was where we were seated- I’ve been to the restaurant before and never experienced that. The food was not as good as past times there.
