which is known as the Garden of France". Much of
what is found in the overflowing markets of Paris,
originates from this region. The Loire is home to
some of the most beautiful and distinctive wines to be found, with many pairing superbly with a wide variety of cuisine. With hundred of cheeses,
thousands of different wine producers, sea food,
fish and meats, it is not a surprise that the lovely
Loire valley excels.
Le Monde was the perfect choice for our family birthday dinner out, and they went all-out to please us. The service was impeccable and the food uniformly divine, from the succulent escargots to the crispy “frites” accompanying my husband’s juicy burger. Especially recommend the goat cheese salad and the Sunday-night special, sole meunière. They even surprised us with desserts on the house, including an ethereal creme brûlée and luscious lemon tart. Tout le monde loved Le Monde. We will def be back!
Nicely spaced tables, attentive service without hovering. Brought birthday dessert with candle free of charge. Will be back and dream of the duck hash in the meantime
just a lovely place; old world feeling.
Our family go to in our neighborhood. We love the food and the staff!
excellent service, good range of choices on menu, tasty food, superb coffee. loud as all NYC restaurants are, but not so loud that conversation was impossible.
Quiet restaurant, excellent service, delicious food.
I enjoyed the company I was with and your service was very good. My only complaint is that I ordered the quiche of the day and though it was a very good ham and cheese quiche, it was rather small in size. Your sister restaurant French Roast a little over a mile south on Broadway used to have a quiche of the day that was more sizable than the one at LeMonde. Unfortunately French Roast has given up that daily lunchtime choice. I was very impressed by the variety of choices at LeMonde for lunch. It was hard to decide. To repeat, only wish that the quiche was a larger portion.
Le Monde has been one of my favorites for years. Love the French menu and atmosphere. The service and staff are amazing. They are truly sweet people. One caveat: While personally I will go there any chance I get, the tables are close together, and it can get crowded during peak hours.
Outstanding service. Predictively good food. We were a group of 9 and they set us up on a separate little alcove table like a private dining room. Manager was incredibly hospitable. All in all a fantastic experience give it was Xmas day.
this restaurant was open late on Christmas eve, one of 3 in the whole neighborhood. So despite the mediocre, underprepared, overcooked food and the 40 minute wait for our drinks, I'm grateful this place was around and the waiter was as cheerful as could be expected working on christmas eve.
As usual Le Monde did not disappoint! I have been dining here for many years. It is lovely. The food is always consistent and delicious. True French standards. The service and management are friendly and accommodating. The price is on point and actually inexpensive for Manhattan. I hope they continue to be successful. I look forward to dining here for many more years.
The food could be better. It was nice but, I think the duck hadn't enough flavor.
Second trip to LeMonde for dinner before a concert at the Cathedral of St John the Divine. Very convenient. Food is excellent. Had escargot, deliciously garlicky. Main was roasted cod with artichokes and mashed purple potatoes. The cod was sweet and perfectly cooked. Others enjoyed grilled octopus salad, veggie burger and mussels, and everyone was happy with their meal. Unfortunately the service was less than attentive. We waited for our drinks when we first arrived, and after dinner we sat quite a while before we had to ask to have the table cleared. Aside from this, we were very happy to have returned to LeMonde and will recommend it to friends going uptown.
Very nice restaurant with good French ambiance and excellent value for Manhattan. Would give it a higher rating except for high noise level and too hot on the evening we were there.
le Monde has been a solid go to French bistro in UWS on border with Harlem and in the vicinity of Columbia U and the Cathedral of St John the Divine. Steak frites, mussels, duck confit, burgers, and all the usual bistro fare very nicely and with modest prices.
Nice atmosphere. Attentive service. Esgargot is delicious. Tasty plat du jour. The best was the gateaux de chocolate with vanilla ice cream-homemade!!!
Food is good, and the service was right on. The server was attentive without being pushy.
All three of us enjoyed the Le Monde Burger, served on a brioche with Bernaise Sauce and crispy French fries on the side. The best Burger I had, cooked to perfection. One of us had the French Onion Soup, which he praised and we all shared the tarte tattain, again excellent. Our waiter was polite and efficient.
The busboy required some training since he made an awful lot of noise clearing the tables. Our nice waiter took care of this too.
we enjoyed it very much and the food was very good. The service was excellent too. Our only issue was being seated very near a noisy party
Lovely place that is ideal for lunch, coffee or dinner, and conversation. The ambiance is laid back, and it’s one of the few NYC spots where you can have a conversation without having to shout, and offers enough room that you aren’t sitting on top of the next table.
The food was good - nothing too fancy but well done. The service is a bit taciturn. At times I’ve had very attentive service but at the most recent visit, it took quite some time for the server to bring menus, food, etc.; by the time we got to the dessert/coffee menu and the server didn’t come by to take an order for 15 minutes, we decided we were done.
Nonetheless, Le Monde is a great neighborhood option in Morningside Heights to catch up with friends or family and enjoy a low key, nicely prepared meal.
My husband and I enjoyed a great dinner. We wanted a nice, semi-casual spot to enjoy a Saturday night dinner. This was perfect. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. When my husband attempted to order another beer, they had run out of what he was drinking. The manager brought him a comparable selection on the house. The food was beyond delicious and everything tasted well-made and fresh. We both had a wonderful experience and will definitely be coming back soon!
Diverse and creative brunch options - tasty and filling. Our server got lost after the drink order, but the maitre d'hotel was responsive. Never did get that after brunch coffee though. Highly recommend the food!
The food was great and the service was outstanding
I have eaten at Le Monde a few times and always liked it but they recently changed their menu (lots of new vegetable choices) and it is great! Between the 5 of us we ordered a few different dishes and they were all excellent. The service is so good and the restaurant is beautiful. Will definitely be back!
Food is great. Service seriously needs work! - our table was overlooked and it was very hard to track down a server.
Solid good quality, excellent service. Perfect for business or pleasure meal.
A reliable bistro for a casual dinner. Good food, adequate wine and beer list, conversational noise level, reasonable prices and great service make ‘‘tis an excellent choice for casual dining
We had a lovely breakfast! The food was delicious, especially the waffles. The service was excellent- very friendly to our kids, and made my husband feel special for his birthday!
Service was terrible. My bouillabaisse was bland and flavorless. The portions were extremely small for the price. I left still hungry, and all the diners with me were unhappy.
Generally, we go for brunch and it’s been great at those times. But tonight was disappointing, and we will not be returning for dinner.
Service was excellent and the beet salad and bouillabaisse were very good. The duck confit was good but not great, maybe a bit dry could have been a bit fresher tasting. French onion soups was very good as well. Overall good and the service was excellent! Manager went out of his way to accommodate our seating and service needs. Very personable.
Our server nicely split the day’s special soup into two cups from a bowl which made a wonderful combination of soup and salad for our lunch. Excellent!
I very much enjoyed dining here for lunch. It has the appropriate French-vibe which I enjoy and the French onion soup was delicious. The only negative was the time it took for the soup to arrive. I would say it was at least 20 minutes if not more. We had decided to first have our soup before the remainder of the meal so we sat there a rather long time nibbling on bread. Our waiter was extremely courteous and efficient and eventually approached our table to apologize for the long wait, explaining that they were backed up in the kitchen with the soup orders.
I never got the fancy cheese I had ordered. Other than that the place continues to be a solid, reliable source of food.
The food is generally good. However, the organic chicken I ordered was a bit on the bland side. This was unusual because it is usually quite good. Just an off night I guess.
The manager and staff were amazing. The food delicious
We had dinner here a few nights ago and the food was very good. The hostess, however, never welcomed us or smiled at us and took a 3 minute phone call after she greeted us. Our waiter was adequate but little personality. A bistro atmosphere with $32 entrees should be more welcoming a friendly.
A phrase I hate, but it is what it is. Everything is perfectly okay. They do not strive for a Michelin star, they are a bistro. The drinks are good, the food is good, the people are swell as is the ambiance.
The Coq au Vin was overrated and expensive. The sauce is way too rich and the chicken almost non existent, replaced by a ton of bacon.
The salad was under dressed. The split pea soup was excellent, the green beans were excellent.
Overall it was very expensive for the value. We have eaten there before and had better meals.
I have eaten at Le Monde many times, I ordered Coq au Vin for the entree. It was awful, it tasted like it was re- heated many times and was old. I took 2 bites and ate no more. I love this restaurant and other entrees at other times we’re fine to very good.
Wine recommendations were good but the ravioli was bland, especially the sauce. The coq Au vin was ok but tasted slightly burnt. The escargot was very good.
