I had friends coming in from out of town and they didn't honor my reservation. They mentioned that they needed to update OpenTable on the fact they don't take Sunday reservations. They made this my problem and threw a wrench in our Sunday plans. It was an awful experience.

I'm sure it will get better in time - the menu and execution. I felt like I was in a school cafeteria. The ambience was lacking.

I had heard such good things about this place and was rather disappointed. They seemed rather overwhelmed Sunday morning by the number of people there and were understaffed. We waited 45 minutes to get menus and food, and the quiche I ordered was burnt and way too salty. My tea arrived with loose tea in a pot of water with no strainer..the service was sporadic and chaotic..however with all that being said I would probably go back and try again..perhaps at a more calm and quiet time during the week!

A friend suggested this place as she had a nice lunch a week earlier. I made a booking thru Open Table for lunch. We got there at 12:45 only to be told that 5 of the 7 options for lunch were not available. It was just weird. How could pretty much ALL the options be unavailable. There was no explanation given, just that they were unavailable. I will say that our waitress was very pleasant and accommodating.

Go early for brunch as they ran out of most dishes by 1pm - still, meal was outstanding. Owner was fantastic, waiter less so - not a lot of interest in serving. It's not clear that reservations are needed or helpful - people just seem to take tables, maybe it's different at crunch time. Design and decor are very handsome and all the baked goods rival or are better than a few well known favorites in the Mission.

Food was innovative, very different from the usual, but not pretentious. The flavor combinations were quite amazing, blended but with sparkle. For example, I had the braised spring onions to start & kale spaetzle as a main. Mustard seed was used and cooked in such a way that it lent blended flavor to the sauce, but when a seed was encountered it burst with a wonderful accent flavor. House made bread and pastries are also exceedingly good. I am not a dessert person, but the chocolate eclair used extraordinarily good chocolate and was a wonderful combination of textures as well. The service was attentive and helpful without being intrusive. Keep in mind that this is a small bistro with reasonable prices to match. It is a place for casual great food. We went before a performance at Magic Theater at Fort Mason and it was perfect.

I give Le Marais fairly high marks for fod. The service was lackluster -- so lax that we were almost late for the theater. Given the low patronage during our meal there is no excuse for poor sevice.
