This was our second visit to Le Lyonnais, and it did not disappoint! The wine list has been carefully curated, the menu changes with the seasons, and the staff is wonderful. Both times we had excellent service, from the front desk to the bar to the table.

The food was amazing. Service was good just a little slow near the end. This wasn’t really the servers fault he had quite a few tables to deal with. If you have an 8pm showing may want to do a 6pm reservation instead of a 630. We definitely will be back

Our first visit to Le Lyonnais was for dinner pre theater. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Dinner was delicious! Service was good. Will definitely return again for dinner and to try apps and dessert. We were a bit tight on time due to going to the theater and only ordered entrees. Happy hour in the bar is excellent with good variety and very reasonable prices.

Like this better than Sonoma (prior), nice happy offerings and varied options on the entrée menu. Not as good as being in France, but not too bad.

Second time dining; and did not disappoint! The experience was exceptional. Great menu choices; portions are ample; and food preparation and creativity was amazing. Beef cheeks were fabulous; have a second meal waiting for me at home; too much to finish. Salmon was exceptional. Service was outstanding and attentive. Will return for sure!

One of the best meals we have experienced in Pittsburgh. Great menu to choose from, large portions for a French restaurant, superb service.
We can’t wait to return.

Sonoma grille, take two. Food decent, nothing special, but at least reasonably priced. Wine list pretty good, but like most PGH restaurants, WAY overpriced. Ambiance blah, trying to straddle between trendy at bar and quiet at dining tables but missing at both ends because bar electronica competes with quiet meal. Service mediocre. We were at our table for a good fifteen minutes before a server even came by to fill our water glasses and give us menus. Pass on this place.

What a wonderful surprise to have a bit of France in the Pittsburgh Cultural District . I had the steak au Poivre and it was just perfect . We will certainly make this restaurant one of our "GO TO " before a concert

This was exactly what we were looking for...Good wine, cheese, dinner, bread, and dessert. We weren't rushed (stayed for about 3 hours) and we were able to talk comfortably to each other. Friendly server (she was a bartender who was assigned to be a server and if she didn't know the answer to our questions, she asked someone). Overall great experience.

massive portions of somewhat overcooked foods. Salad laitue overdressed and soggy. Sweetened butter for otherwise superb Baguette (5 Points Bakery). Pretty awful service. Waiter rubbed or patted my shoulder after every interaction and wanted to shake hands when we left. Pretty weird. Oh, the decor hasn't changed since it was Sonoma Grill. Tired and inappropriate. Don't waste your time or money here.

Very good. I think the change was for the better. Pates could have been better. Did not enjoy the mushroom pate at all. Ham and cheese croquettes very good.

Service was attentive and friendly. Pork belly not as tender as I'd hoped but the pork tenderloin my husband had was very tender and tasty. My noodles in gravy were very good and plentiful and the tomato salad was lovely.

Great find. In Pittsburgh for a Steeler game and restaurant was located next to our hotel on Penn. Was attracted by the atmosphere, outdoor seating and the menu. Our waiter took his time explaining the various selections available. French comfort food. Next time we are in town we will return.

Was nervous to dine here before a show due to reviews stating service was very slow. We had a very good meal and the server was attentive. The trio of pates were our favorite. The onion soup was bland and uninspired. My husband had the Cornish hen which was delicious, the sauce had great flavors.

Overall a very nice evening, although it wasn’t over the top special. Too many places to have a nice dinner in Pittsburgh to put this one at the top. Service was top notch, and cocktails were fantastic, but overall food and ambiance was good, not great.

It's a really good thing for this restaurant that the food was very good, otherwise the poorly trained staff would make it enough for me not to come back. If they concentrate on upping the level of service and attention to basics, I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Still feels like Sonoma Grill. Friends liked their beef cheeks and lamb, but my crab meat tartine was on hard-to-cut toast and just not very comforting. Slow, somewhat clunky service. Feels not quite gelling. Was placed in the cavernous back, felt a little lost; it is probably nicer up toward the front windows.

This was one of the finest French bistro meals we have ever had outside of France. Kudos to the chef, the "man from Lyon". (Le Lyonnaise)

The food was really good, and the cocktails were outstanding. There are many French wines available by the glass as well. The service was a bit understaffed -- our waiter seemed to be covering the entire dining room and the outside tables as well, and it took kind of a long time for the bartender to make our pre-dinner cocktails. The food did come out right away though. We had a show to get to, so I felt a little stressed that we wouldn't be done in time, but we were (we were there for about an hour and 15 minutes total), and I would love to go back some time when I don't have to be anywhere after. There is a nice bar area that opens to Penn Ave, which would be good for a pre-show glass of French wine.

Wow! Where do I start! I go out 3 or 4 times per week. And it's was the absolute worse experience I've ever had at a high end restaurant. They weren't crazy busy and they weren't under staffed. But. Really??!! It took 10 minutes to even have someone greet us. Then when we got sat... another 20 minutes until someone said hi at our table. We told the waitress that we were headed to a show and needed to leave at 7:30. She told us no problem. We placed our order and waited 45 minutes for our apps to come out. By the time our entrees finally showed up it was time for us to leave. We weren't the only one to have this issue. It was absolutely disappointing.

The food was great, but we weren't able to enjoy it because everything came so slow. We arrived at 6 but didn't get our salad and soup until about 7:10. With tickets for an 8 o'clock lecture, we were in a panic. Entrees did not arrive until almost 7:30. They comped the entrees and we wolfed down what we could. Staff was nice and apologetic but it was a lousy experience. Many other diners got up and left. All the food was tremendous. Such a shame.

My wife and I arrived at Le Lyonnasis 6:10 p.m. on Wednesday evening for dinner and a show at 8:00 p.m. The waitress did not appear at our table within 10 minutes of our seating, when she did arrive at our table she answered questions about the menu and she disappeared for another 10 minutes. When she returned we placed our order for a salad and two entrees and a cocktail and then we sat and sat. After being at our table for an hour we had been served water, a bread plate for my wife (I have celiac disease) and a cocktail for me. I approached the manager and explained that we were 45 minutes from show time and no food had arrived and I placed the question to the manager of whether or not we would be served. His answer was that he did not know and he would go to the kitchen to get an answer, which he did. After 10 or more minutes in the kitchen he returned to a table of 4 near us, words were exchanged and the foursome got up in unison and one of the patrons picked up a set of show tickets and they marched off out of the restaurant. Meanwhile, the manager passed our table by and headed to the bar area. I waited a few minutes and got up to find the manager and to receive an answer on the prospect of our dinner in time for the show. When I found the manager and asked if we would receive our meal in time for the show he said he did not know. The tickets for the show cost as much or slightly less that the amount the dinner, drinks and dessert would have cost us so I indicated I would settle up for the cost of the drink and we would move on to an area bar and grille which could feed us quickly. He compted the drink and we moved across the street for a quick light meal. This is the second time we have arrived at Le Lyonnais for a meal and the second time the service was slow, poor or non-existent. I hope this is helpful to aid you in applying resources to train the wait staff, the chefs and kitchen staff to improve service to the evening show dinner crowd.

Had an absolutely delicious and lovely lunch .

the service was great, got to sit outside on a beautiful October sunny day and my entree which was the tomato, basil, burrata salad with a piece of salmon was divine.

Ordered the short rib poutine. It tasted very good but the cheese curds were completely melted as if the dish sat under a heat lamp for too long. Good taste, not the proper texture. Also the flatware was very watermarked--get a new dishwasher or water softener. Other two people in the party enjoyed their meal.

The host seating us look very serious like we were at a funeral parlor. He spoke in such a low voice about the menu and specials you couldn't understand a single word. It was never explained why there were two servers waiting on us. The main complaint was the $35 steak was very tough. Had to Chew and chew and chew.

We always loved this spot as Sonoma Grille. Now it is under the same ownership but has switched to a country French theme. Nice menu with lots of appealing options. Appealing soups, which we tried, and lots of other appetizers, etc. Our entrees of a veal special and Beouf Bourgignon were excellent, and we shared a large carafe of wine. Service was smooth and efficient, although they were not very busy on a Tuesday. Nothing about the décor has changed but we enjoyed our visit. We plan to return.
