Cute French restaurant, extensive list of cheeses, food was tasty, it’s a little dark in some spots upstairs.

La Grenier has a beautiful ambience. The food is mediocre. Stick with appetizers - the escargot and the onion soup are delicious.

Le Grenier is a charming French restaurant dripping in character. Ask for a seat on the balcony on the second floor. The food was rich and delicious and the menu offers enough variety for a large group.

Excellent but portions were a little small even for appetizers. That said quality was great and the staff awesome. I’ll be back and my friend who came for the first time plans to return with her husband.

We went here for date night when visiting the area. It is a very small restaurant, but there are 2 levels. Definitely set up a reservation to avoid a long wait for dinner.
We sat at a small table at upstairs. They have a wide selection of wines, however, only about 5 white and 5 reds that can be purchased by the glass.

We ate a 3 cheese plate, seafood chowder, mushroom filled puffy pastry appetizer, and salmon. They will come around and share fresh baked bread, which I dipped in the delicious soup. The salmon was beautifully plated with bright colors from the butternut squash and beet sauce. The owner did seem to make his way around to all the tables to say hello, which was a courteous gesture.

Got lucky and went on a day that had a free bottle of wine with the food. We had a great cheese spread and meal, I'd recommend their seafood.

The food at Le Grenier is always top notch. This last time, for the Beaujolais Nouveau dinner, it was superb. The management and wait staff are ALWAYS wonderful to customers. And the ambiance is so relaxing, so comfortable. The monthly wine tastings are also great, both the wine and the learnings, along with the free hors d'oeuvres. It's my family's favorite place on Capitol Hill.

Had dinner here with my 12-year-old daughter and her BFF while in town for the weekend. Server incorrectly wrote down or entered our order, so my beet napoleon never came. The girls enjoyed the escargot but I’ve had better; their steak frites was good, and the roasted cauliflower salad was exceptional.

Last minute find when train delays threatened to spoil an evening. Looking for something near Union Station and this lovely spot popped up. Authentic French Bistro cooking in a lovely setting of rustic wood, hanging birdcage lamps and exposed brick. The server/manager was delightful, and had knowledgeable food and wine recommendations. Whether it was an understaffed night or what, we couldn't tell, but there was just no way to describe the service. Different servers, no communication with each other, entrees waiting over 30 minutes, something just fell apart. As this was such a find, and only the first time here, I'm assuming this was a one-off and wouldn't hold it against Le Grenier and intend to recommend and visit again.

We were celebrating my daughter’s birthday. I had purchased a “deal” on Travelzoo that was a scam. The cost for that same deal in the Restaurant was cheaper. On top of that the server was confused and caused a great deal of drama around the deal I had purchased. It was embarrassing for us and ruined the special occasion we were celebrating. I finally gave up and told the server to charge us whatever she wanted so I ended up paying $60 more on top of what I had already paid for the deal. Over Over, the Restaurant was very run down, with average food and below average service. I would not recommend this to anyone.

We had a main course and a desert, the food and wine was very good but the service was very slow. We had to wait for 1,5 hour for the main course to arrive, luckily we weren't in a rush and the food made up for the slow service.

Went to the restaurant after purchasing a travelzoo brunch package. The food was fine, nothing spectacular, but the service was poor. We weren't even acknowledged for the first 10 minutes of us being seated. It wasn't until after I asked who the waiter was that a guy that passed by our table several times was pointed out as the waiter. His attentiveness was poor and his lack of interest in hospitality made the experience subpar. Overall, the food wasn't good enough that I would go back in spite of the service.

The offer states it is for brunch but it is definitely NOT clear that it is from a VERY limited price fixe menu.
We suggested allowing us to order whatever we wanted and just apply the $45 credit. We would have spent way more than $45 to be able to eat what we preferred but we're rudely told we would forfeit the whole amount if we did so.
NEVER going there again despite the fact that it was a cool place for Sunday brunch.

We drove across DC to dine at LaGrenier. It's has a charming atmosphere, great food, and excellent staff. It's a little loud so that detracts from conversations but that was our only negative aspect experienced. Love this place.

Le Grenier was a find of my wife's. We are here on vacation for a month and had already tried several restaurants that were not to our liking but were pleasantly surprised by Le Grenier. A very good menu, good wine list, patient, knowledgeable staff and spectacular food. There were several dishes we are anxious to try so we will be back.

We were in DC for just 4 nights and ate here two of those--enough said! Funky H Street bistro with contemporary spin on classic French cuisine. The Salmon Flip Flop (grilled salmon, goat cheese tart, and cucumber sorbet) is highly recommended! Be warned that wine by the glass portions are tiny. It is best if you can see your way to buy a bottle.

Highly recommend- my friend and I ate dinner here for the first time for my birthday on a Saturday night and it had steady business but was never overcrowded. Our server was great- very French and vaguely annoyed by everything (as the French often are) but attentive and never rude.

Our food was INCREDIBLE. We started with a crepe for an app, then I had the salmon with a delicious goat cheese tart and my friend had some of the juiciest, most tender pork I've ever tasted.

Music and decor is very fun. This is a neighborhood gem! :)

The food was very good, but the service was ok. The uninterested and rude French server acted like he was doing us a favor for having us there. Bread was fresh and warm with cold butter, but pour for wine was not generous at all.
