Upon reopening in December, Michelin-starred Chef Raphael François has brought back his most popular dishes while teaming with award winning Sushi Master Noriaki Yasutake (formally SEI Restaurant) presenting French/Asian cuisine, including a full sushi menu (signature Fish and Chips Roll) in an informal, cozy, and romantic setting.     My husband and I were looking for a French bistro to dine at and enjoyed our evening here. We shared some small plates —frog legs was on the menu and quite tasty! and the whole branzino was big enough to share—delicious! I just tried to book a table for indoors tonight and they are full. I’m not surprised—the food is good, the place is fun and the staff are friendly and helpful with wine and food selections.

    There's a surprising dearth of nice sit-down restaurants in the downtown area that don't require an expense account to enjoy. Le DeSales, located around the corner from the Mayflower Hotel, serves well turned-out dishes from two very different traditions: French and Japanese. Any decent French restaurant worth its salt can produce delicious Steak Frites and roast chicken, and DeSales excels on both counts. It also offers one of the very best mac & cheese variations I've ever had. Duck prosciutto is a fantastic charcuterie offering, and the sushi maki choices are interesting and good. The only dish I didn't love was the poke bowl, mostly because it tasted the same as every other poke bowl I've had.

    My burger was excellent as was my husband’s fish. My daughter’s steak fritte was spoiled by COLD steak. We sent it back, but it raised questions about the steak and whether it was reheated, frozen or what to come last and cold.

    This is a happening place on a Thursday night. The food was amazing especially the strip steak, kale pomegranate pistachio salad and chocolate pie dessert. Would definitely go back!

    First time visiting this restaurant after reading reviews and decided to make a reservation for our anniversary. Service was fantastic and the food was very delicious. Went in with an open mind and left blown away with the entire experience. Happy to have found this place and we are looking forward to our next visit.

    Went to DC and its just across where we stayed. Happy hours serving portions are very generous, service was good and very attentive staff. Everything was good in this restaurant and have happy hours and dinner there three days in a row.

    Went for Sushi. Was told they had no soy paper yet a table next to ours had 4 rolls with it. They did not say they ran out but didn’t have it?! There were at least 9 servers running around laughing, texting. Reminded me of a low end all inclusive service team.

    Our group of three had a great meal. Drinks: bees knees and old, aged fashioned were excellent. The fish and frites were great- the panko coating on the fish was very crispy and the fish was tender; the tarter sauce was spicy and was a nice compliment. The fries were well seasoned and abundant. The burger was cooked just right and was sizable - had to be cut with a fork & knife to be eaten as it was so tall. The burrata with tomatoes, edamame and the roasted cauliflower were all fresh and delicious. The meal was crowned with the bread pudding and crème brûlée - both excellent. Would definitely return. Only downside was that it was quite loud - we were fortunate stag a table as far from the bar as possible so we could at least carry on a conversation during our meal.

    The menu was diverse enough for 6 with 2 picky eaters diners to dine well. Not often does one see French Onion Soup and Sushi on the same menu. Only complain was noise level. No music, just very little sound absorbance, even after the happy hour crowd died down.

    Frickin amazing! Was looking forward to dinner prior to our arrival at DC and stayed at the Mayflower hotel across the street. Food was beyond was phenomenal, price point was great, service was amazing and attentive and drinks were delightful and refreshing. Easily, Le DeSales had been solidified as one of my favorite DC restaurants and a must for every visit .

    The food was excellent! I had the whole branzino and the kitchen was able to accommodate my need to avoid salt by not salting the fish and putting the persillade on the side, which it was also able to do with the sauce for the cauliflower. My wife had the lamb shank, which was both tender and delicious. The blood orange sorbet was flavorful and not overly sweet, while the crème brûlée was light and creamy, a refreshing change from many of the versions that overcook the custard. Service was attentive but not intrusive, and I appreciated the communication with the kitchen that addressed my dietary needs. Overall, the only negative was the noise level, which was fine when we arrived but topped out at over 81 dB shortly before we left and required us to lean over the middle of the table to hear each other. Much of the sound was generated in the bar area, which was full of patrons on a Thursday evening. Overall, this was a great dining experience for us!

    We always love coming to Le Desales for lunch or dinner. The service is superb, the food choices are varied and delicious, and the location is convenient and not very noisy. The vegetable entrees are exceptional, especially the cauliflower and broccolini. This summer's Gazpacho is a stunner -- thick, delicious and warming, even though it's a cold dish (as it's supposed to be). The sushi selection is wonderful and is fresh as it gets. The fish and frites is a delicious entree and the salmon was sublime.

    Food was excellent and beautifully presented. Ambient music selection was obnoxious with hard, driving shrill voice, and pounding bass beat. However, as the evening progressed, management turn the volume down, which was very much appreciated!
