I am not really fond of leaving bad reviews or anything so I apologize if this will upset anybody. This is just my personal opinion (and taste buds) and I don’t want it to be of any factor here.
It was my Birthday and I just wanted to go for dinner with my fiancé and have an intimate dinner and a lovely food experience. I have heard a lot about this place and it was a restaurant that I wanted to visit for a while.
Ambiance: intimate, romantic, classy, elegant.
Noise Level: medium.
Food: I didn’t like at all. Sadly. We ordered foie gras et volaille, monk fish and oysters for apps, sweetbreads with maitake mushrooms (this was good), my main was filet basquaise and his main was Black Sea bass.
Personally foie gras reminded me of tiered “holodez”, not really spreadable and there was no toast next to it. I love foie gras I try it everywhere I go where available and this was not the best at all. My main dish is what left me really upset. I am at work right now and am still upset about it. The sauce they used for the veal and the same sauce for the pie is just way too contradicting, it has somewhat of an old world ragout taste with a hint of sweetness to it. Did not want to taste that on my pie or my veal. The consistency of the veal was great. Just the sauce was a killer. My monk fish I enjoyed but just the essence it was in was way way to strong. I basically wished I picked a different app.
Conclusion: will stick to my other favorite French restaurants.
Happy that the restaurant has reopened! Always a great experience!
Very good spot
Fantastic service, and great food, er had a terrific evening
Wonderful as always
A truly exceptional experience in every way. Food and service both.
We loved the food, atmosphere, the servers. It was out first time there and will definitely be back!
Loved everything about Le Cou Cou…excellent french good, exceptional service and great ambiance
Fantastic restaurant, great service and amazing environment and ambiance. Would definitely go back.
Definitely a very fancy (i.e. a little stuffy) environment, and the food is incredible.
One of the best restaurants in NYC!!!
Food was excellent. One of the best experiences in New York City (or Paris - I dare say). Service was outstanding from the greeting to the departure. Atmosphere was ultra chic and romantic and the crowd was downtown sophisticated.
handsome and romantic establishment staff friendly and professional. we are not meat eaters so our best dish was dover sole. have had quenelle before both in France and at the pre pandemic Cou Cou but the? new recipe at least for me seems different wine prices quite high
in sum great for a romantic evening, a first date with an A lister, or to impress a client
this has been our 4th visit and it is very consistent. The food is delicious and expertly prepared. Beautiful to look out and full flavored with rich sauces and inventive accompaniments. This visit we had the dover Sole Véronique and the sole was tender and flavorful, the cut was thick and firm and the Homard « Bourse et la Vie »
A Maine lobster, sauce poivre, peppery greens and green peppercorns. The lobster was tender and a nice sized portion. For an opener we had Quenelle de brochet, sauce américaine the pike dumpling and lobster sauce. Although delicious in it's own rite, I preferred it's sauce from the past which was some sort of a creamy oyster and caviar based sauce reminiscent of Per Se's Oysters and Pearls. All in all, the meal was delicious! The restaurant itself is quite beautiful, beautifully decorated and appointed with high ceilings and large windows. The wait staff is very professional without being cold. They are friendly, informed, adept and enhance the meal. Definitely will be back!
Very charming place for friends, family and love birds!
Superb in every aspect!
Excelente en todos los sentidos. El servicio inmejorable. Ambiente elegante y romántico. La comida a perfección.
Buena selección de vinos aunque los encontré caros
The staff was amazing and extremely attentive. The food was really good but the plates were small.
had a great experience here! would definitely come back.
Fantastic experience in every way! (Even more so that the chef is not yelling all of the time!)
Absolutely one of the best restaurants in NY!!! If you live here or visiting, THIS IS A MUST!!!! We loved it!!!
Stunning. From the food to the waiters to the decor to the welcome and to the downtown crowd! I am so glad Le Coucou has reopened and it is as good as I remember, if not better. I felt like I was transported to a chic European city.
Nice restaurant on the pricey side, but with good food and a great wine list
The quenelles are INSANELY good!
Best meal in years!
Disappointed with the food. Rabbit was dried & overcooked. Stew was not warm. Fish was blend. Filet mignon was not medium rate. Foei gras were top grade A quality. Uni app was spectacular. 3 out of 4 entrees were too disappointing. Lobster n dessert were good. Front server were knowledgeable with the menu more than captain. Service were on point but food took long. Entree were prepared over an hour. Sat at 6:11pm. Dinner ended at 8:40pm. Drinks were perfect.
Service was a bit disorganized but there was plenty of staff members. The price fixe rotates so this review is specific to the one we had. Everything was over saturated with alcohol - both savory and dessert. The pork and fish needed more seasoning. There were some hits but more misses than hits.
New Year’s Eve special set menu is terrible. Waiter is arrogant and impatient.
Overall experience was not bad. Excellent wine recommendations by the sommelier Gabby, ambiance and overall service was good, however, overall food wasn’t as good as I expected. filet, appetizers were underwhelmed and monkfish was just okay.
It was exquisite! Best dining experience I ever had. The food Wes superb! Well done!
Truly outstanding. The staff is supremely welcoming and professional. The courses and drinks came out like clockwork. The food was flawless.
Spectacular food and cocktails. Service was gracious from start to finish. Will be back soon.
Food, service and ambiance created the perfect package to escape from reality!
The chef's tasting menu is amazing, superb and (almost too) abundant.
Outstanding atmosphere and service; dover sole was unique.
Lovely ambiance, exceptional service (the best I have experienced in a long time) and a gourmet meal. I will be back for sure!
Always perfect. Always a treat. A slice of Paris in NYC. Merci!
Beautiful ambiance, great for a romantic dinner
